Reviews:
can't find a problem... By: jew$420 - Jul 5, 2009 Version: 1.1 i was a little apprehensive to buy this after reading some of the reviews but I gave it a try anyway, I mean come on it's a buck. after browsing through the thousands of titles I decided my test download would be the curious case of Benjamin Button. five minutes later I was listening to the great short story. haven't had a problem yet. only complaint is I don't think books can be downloaded when the app isn't open. other than that, excellent app!
Works perfectly, Read the Directions!!! By: phreakinowski - Jul 7, 2009 Version: 1.1 With so many saying this did not work I was leery... But it absolutely does work, and is much better than the free Audiobooks app. However it will appear to be broken if you do not follow the correct steps, or if you fail to keep it open while downloading chapters. 1) Search for a book and click the "Add Book" button, this does not download the book it only adds it to your list of books. 2) Click the "My Books" button at the bottom. 3) Select the book which will bring up the book info and chapters. 4) Now either download the whole book or individual chapters. If not on a WiFi network I suggest the individual chapters. 5) Now click the "My Que" button which will show you what you have chosen to download. 6) Click the "Start" button at the top right to actually begin the download. In the lower left you can see the progress of the download. 7) Do Not Close the App or Switch Out of the My Que Section Until the Download is Complete. If you do, then clear the que, close and relaunch the app, add it back to the que and press Start once again. It will work and downloading is significantly better than having to stream it as you are forced to with the free app, especially when the free app has a sad tendency to refuse to complete chapters and skips midway to the next one. While it would be very nice if could handle background downloading, or allow you to listen to chapter 1, while downloading chapter 2... Etc, as long as you kepp your que window open and complete the download it works extremely well.
Great app! By: QuPop - Oct 16, 2009 Version: 1.3 Lot if people complain about the voice quality but it's public domain and not read by professionals though some are just great. The app it self is great. Easy to use. You can decide to play chapter by chapter or continously. Add books to listen for later. One thing that is either missing or not intuitive is the volume bar, wth is it?!? That alone knocked it down a star. Worth .99? Yes. Sure you can download them then add them into your iPod but a .99 convience is worth it to me.
Great App By: Novice4 - Jun 4, 2009 Version: 1.0 Another hit out of the ballpark! The developer of RSS Podcast Player has done it again with his new and recent issue of Audiobook Player. This App allows one to search for, download and play public domain books on your iPhone or iTouch. While all the basic controls are available such as volume, pause, start and fast forward (in both directions) one also has the option of downloading either individual chapters or the entire book. If you leave a book in the middle of the chapter you will restart the next session at that point. The interface is very easy to use with an included "search function" built-in to narrow the topics. If you are a fan of open source audio books then give this application a try.
A Very Good Application By: Fr. Ignatius - Jul 29, 2009 Version: 1.1 I read most of the reviews and was very leery about buying this application (even for $1). Since Audiobooks has been stopped from having their audiobooks downloaded, I needed a new application. So I downloaded this application. I then tried to download an audiobook. I went to Search, went to Author, then to A, then to Austen...but "No Matches". What? Then I tried a lot of popular Classic Authors, but the same, "No Matches". Oh no, I have been duped. They (the reviewers) had warned me, but I had bought it, anyway. Apple wouldn't allow this to occur if this was a dud. I then went searching iTunes and the Internet to find an avenue to contact the developer and tell them there is a Problem. While this was happening, I tried the application during the rest of that night and during the next day. Same message, "No Matches". By the evening, I found an eMail address (the one that was on iTunes during the night when I downloaded the application - didn't work). I wrote Alex an eMail stating the problem. Also, on his website, I saw a Twitter feed. I looked at it and it mentioned that his Server had been down, and it was now up. I then went to a WiFi area (nearby) and sure enough - I got audiobooks. I started downloading right away. It is a very good audiobook player (as its name says). I have learned the hard way (seems this is the only way that I learn) don't judge before you know all the facts. Give Alex (or any other application developer) the benefit of the doubt. They are doing a service for us, and we should be appreciative. Thank you for listening.
'The app' to hear to books from librivox By: Nj user - Jun 7, 2009 Version: 1.0 This app integrates well with librivox collection and I love the idea and concept. Used it for couple of days and am hooked on to it. However there are some rough edges. 1. Cannot search/list books based on categories. 2. No list all feature; you need to go back to your browser/computer to list all books. 3. No configuration screen; cannot dictate to the application how much to buffer when to auto delete etc. These are minor issues and trust it’ll be fixed in subsequent updates.

So happy with this app By: Audiobookphile - Feb 18, 2010 Version: 1.3.1 Very easy to use. Makes my commutes fly by even during traffic jams.
Great app!! By: Advaughn59 - Feb 16, 2010 Version: 1.3.1 Really well done, better than the more expensive apps. If I see one more person complaining about Harry potter books not being on here, i'm gonna scream. Read (or listen) to something good. Tons of good stuff on this app.
Diamonds Found By: Cfgen1 - Feb 7, 2010 Version: 1.3.1 As in all things, self effort is required to find the true value in what one searches for. Precious gems are found through searching. The gem found only reveals it's beauty and value after effort is applied to the seemingly valueless rock. This app has given me the tool to search for and find gems in the realm of literature, some of which have been true diamonds.
Great! By: Laurel W - Jan 29, 2010 Version: 1.3.1 This is a very nice app. Those of you who are complaining about the fact that these are old books don't understand what the Gutenberg Project is. If you're looking for new books, those titles are still under copyright and thus would not be free like they are here. These titles, I believe, are from authors who have been dead for 80 or more years and so can be read or listened to for free.
Oh Pioneers By: Girllawyer - Jan 24, 2010 Version: 1.3.1 Well spoken audio, great pronunciation & inflection in the speaker's voice . I highly recommend if you are too tired to read, particularly after a long day in Court, & are suffering through insomnia from too much work!!! Wonderful application . The best application I have ever bought as a tired woman lawyer who also cares for her mother & pets. Buy this. You will not be sorry!
Loving every min By: Goldbareye - Jan 19, 2010 Version: 1.3.1 This app is great I love it. With out it I would lose so much more money then 99 cents
A Princess of Mars E. R. Burroughs By: westred - Jan 12, 2010 Version: 1.3.1 Awesome adventure Sci - Fi!! Read it!!
Libravox By: 207darcy - Jan 2, 2010 Version: 1.3.1 I love this app and use it daily. It is easy to use and has a great book selection.
Indispensable. By: appstorejunkie123 - Dec 29, 2009 Version: 1.3.1 Works wonderful. I use it everyday. Everyone needs to understand that this plays public domain books, not everything one sees at the bookstore. If you didn't read the app description, then you deserve to be disappointed. My only request would be an update to allow the audio to play while using other apps. Otherwise, this app is faultless.
Great app! By: msyvg1 - Dec 23, 2009 Version: 1.3.1 I use this app a lot. It has a good selection of books.
Great app By: bradleychambers28 - Dec 5, 2009 Version: 1.3.1 Great app at a cheap price. Works well and the developer is always pushing out updates

Long time in coming By: t2lltp - Dec 4, 2009 Version: 1.3.1 I have used computer voice software but it's unavailable on the iPhone. Now I can listen to books without a computer, for two dollars! Choices are ample and the application smooth. I guess I won't be watching movies while doing cardio anymore. Thanks guys!
