Maybe Only for iPhone and iPod touch  rating of B&N eReader

This is great! I downloaded the app and it works just fine! I read the other reviews and was afraid until i saw 2 that actually said it worked so i gave it a try and BAM!! So as to why it didn't work for the other majority here's my best guess:
They didn't have an iPod TOUCH or and iPHONE
If you had either one of those it shouldn't be a problem cuz mine works just fine! I haven't put any books on it yet so i'll keep praying it doesn't crash.

Thanks to the user that posted a fix to the constant crashes. If the app is always crashing, delete it and then completely shut down your iPhone. Turn the phone back on and then reinstall the app. That cured my constant crashes and I've been able to read two books ove the last few days with the app working as advertised. I like the B&N GUI much better than the Kindle app.The key is to shut off the phone after the delete... then reinstall.

My wife and I needed to read a book a the same time. She had the paper verdin so I bought the ebook, at less than half the price, AND had abilitybto search, make notes, highlight, etc. NB because of licensing agreements it APPEARS that some (many?) books are available in the US only, which is why in some cases it will ask for a US billing address. There is still a simple way to buy the book. Love the Meriam Webster dictionary integration. Just select a word and you can get the definition. Not sure if the dictionary was there from the beginning or only after I bought a book. In general this is similar to Stanza and other ereader apps: love the ability to search, bookmark, highlight and make notes. Would be nice if you could unhighlight something you had previously highlighted.

I have never written a review before, but this app deserves one. I really liked ereader, but struggled buying books because I can't spend $20 on a book I'm not sure I want. I've always been the one spending countless hours thumbing through books to find that one that makes me excited to own.The Barnes and Noble app gives me that option online. I will buy many more books through b&n because I have the opportunity to get a sample before I spend. Other readers should offer this feature!

I have a version of this app on nearly every device I have. Sharing the books between them I can have my books with me where ever I am. The ebook versions are cheaper than the physical copies and with my Barnes and Noble members card I get 10 percent off. Also about once a week a new book is given away for free. I typically find it easier to search and buy book on the bn.com website and then sync my library with my other devices.

Love this eReader!  rating of B&N eReader

Okay, so, I admit I tried out this and Kindle for iPhone...even wrote a good review for Kindle, BUT that was before I used B&N's in depth. There's pro's and con's to both eReaders, of course, but I think B&N has got it spot on, frankly.
Pro's:
- Plenty of options for text and layout, such as size and font style
- Comes with a few free books
- Remembers your place no matter where you stop, with ability to leaflet any page you want to remember or go back to later
- Ability to rename the books, in case you want a shorter or more accurate title
Con's:
- Books cost more than Kindle, but hey, you get what you pay for with quality
- Crashes if overloaded (IE: Doing things too fast, not having too many books)
Obviously the pro's outweigh the con's, so this one is a no brainer. I only had it crash a couple times on me, which were bad enough I had to delete the app and reinstall it to make it work again, otherwise it kept crashing on load from that point. Weird. I just take things slow now and it doesn't crash.
Thanks to this app, I actually like reading! I've never been an avid reader, but now I keep trying to find more books to read. Love the app, go for it guys!

Wow, what can i say. I've been using the Barnes and Noble eReader since July now. For anyone curious it's the best ap out at the moment for the ipod. The optimizations you're able to use while reading are definitely an improvement over the other readers, and it's quite simple to use. For anyone that loves books, this is a great ap to use. For those of you complaining about getting free books, are you serious? This is an eReader for a book store. Of course they're not gonna have all the public domain books, you can find them with other aps if you really want to.
But in all honesty, i've yet to find anything worth reading that was free, anywhere. It's true i wish the prices were a little lower, being that i'm not actually buying the book. However, because i can take my library with me, wherever i go it's not that much of an issue. In all honesty, i wish MORE eBooks were available than there currently are since it's a new feature.
The one thing that B&N really needs to fix however is how you shop with the ap. In all honesty, it's pretty horrible to have to search by name, In fact i don't bother trying to search for a book using the ap. I find what i want to read by pc/laptop first and then download to read on my ipod. If B&N wants to really boost sales, they're going to need to find a better way to browse their ebook selection with the ipod, otherwise it's harder for people to find something they may really want to read.
My last comment is that i absolutely LOVE the fact that you can preview the eBooks. You have no idea how much more helpful it is to be able to read the first 50 pages or so of a book to tell if it's really a book you're going to enjoy, and want to buy. It's an excellent idea to gather more customers. In the mean time while hopefully they're fixing the ap, i'll be reading another book!

JUST INPUT A US ADDRESS!!! Reading app reviews I despair for human intellegence. Love the highlighting, annotating feature My wife and I needed to read a book at the same time. Best App I've ever downloaded!!!  rating of B&N eReader

If you love to read like I do, then you HAVE to download this app! I have over 45 apps on my iPhone, but this has to be the best one yet!!! I apsolutely LOVE this app. I was able to download all my eBooks and take them with me where ever I go. Whenever I feel like picking up where I left off on my book, all I do is tap the app, choose the book, and I'm in my own little world. But that's not even the best part. You can customize the way your screen looks when you're reading! Choose a set of pre-determined themes or pick each color individually. You can also search for a specific word or highlight a specific area in the book and much more! If you are always on the go and you love to read but don't feel like carrying all of your books, then download the app that's synced with the best rated bookstore in the nation, Barnes & Nobles!

I really like the App. I mean, you have to have Wifi to buy books, which requires a creditcard or B&N Giftcard, and it does that through the web browser *lame*. however, once you get your books, its an Awesome Reader. it has a built in Dictionary too, no Wifi needed for that. so this App is a free dictionary, and a really Awesome Reader. Cant wait to get some money and get down to reading more than Samples :D if you like to read, know how to read, can spell read or just know what reading is, get this App. its Beast. its free, its 4 megabytes. good for cheating on vocab quizzes. or reading the Hitchhikers Guide :D

Love it! Love it! Love it! My favorite thing to do while waiting for the bus. You can also download (for free) previews of the books that allow you to read a substantial amount, about 30-50 pages so you can get a real feel for the book and decide if you want it. Most of the complaints people have about the application can be fixed in the settings ( for instance if you don't want the toolbar to always be on, go to the settings and turn off the option that says to always keep the toolbar on.) Great app! I like it more than the kindle for Iphone which doesn't seem to have as many features.

POS  rating of B&N eReader

This thing is horrible. Did the authors decide one day it might be fun to write an apple app and just make it up as they went along? Because IT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. I have a good mind to not honor the bn charges for a couple of ebooks I bought from barnes and noble, if this is the kind of crap they dish out.UPDATE -- it works now -- it threw up all over a couple of books I loaded but I kept starting it up and now it works. I don't know if this will help the developers any or not. It seems to die a horrible death when newly installed, and if the developers have their reader beyond this point it would be difficult for them to replicate the issue. My reader has been solid for several days now and I have bought a couple more books. No crashes, and it used to just spit me out to the screen with all the app icons, gleefully. Don't know of any reason for this. I have a second generation ipod touch updated to the latest firmware.

(updated review for 1.1.2) fixed  rating of B&N eReader
By: JimCriz - Jan 4, 2010

I'm updating this for those still having problems with this app. My previous review is below. I deleted the app, restarted my phone, then downloaded the app again. This gave me the updated app. I don't know why it's not getting updated normally, but there you have it. Anyway, the updated version isn't having the crashing problem. I can exit and re-enter the app without issue, so it is now functioning as a good reader. I really like the Google and Wikipedia search functions when you select a word or phrase. I've used it a lot for Dan Brown's Lost Symbol, since I can go look at the art he refers to. I only wish now that it had the up-down swipe dimmer like Stanza. So below was my old review, good luck everyone getting the app working.Ok. The constant need to reinstall this thing is a pain. If you are reasons a purchased, you can avoid the crash by always exiting the book to your library before you exit the app. But really, if all other things are equal, use Stanza. But I have a gift card with B&N, so I bought a couple books already and gave to use it. I'll wait for an update before I do it again.Really, is this too hard of a fix for these guys?

I found the answer to getting in to B&N  rating of B&N eReader
By: ilovemarylandtoo - Dec 31, 2009

I just received an email from B&N saying they know people have had problems getting into the app. They suggested to remove the ebook you can't get into and reinstall it. BUT since I (like other recent commenters) haven't been able to get the app to even open up, I deleted the whole app from my iTouch and reinstalled it. Now it works perfectly! And per the B&N email, we should see a new and improved update after New Year's.
