Description:
The Children’s Bible is an app which contains comic books about the Bible for children of ages between 7 and 13 years old. The contents of the Children’s Bible cover the most important passages of Sacred History and the Gospels. “Allow the little children to come to me, and don’t hinder them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Most assuredly, I tell you, whoever doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.” Luke 18,15-17 What is Children’s Bible? ========================= Children’s Bible is the first cartoon ‘comic book’ style adaptation of the greatest stories of the Bible for the iPhone and iPod touch. Bring the greatest stories of the Bible to life for young children with this comic book edition Bible for ages 7 and up! All comics are available in seven different languages: english, spanish, french, italian, deutsch, portuguese and catalan. Reviews from users ========================= Really lovely, well thought out comic book (5 of 5) by hilarywhitney (United States) Version 1.0 – 15/12/2009 I really enjoyed this app for several reasons outside of even the story content itself. It seems the designers put a great deal of effort and thought into usability as well as the design of the comic book. The illustrations are nice and the narration is good. The variety of languages increases the accessibility of the app which is great as well. Navigation is a breeze and in case it doesn’t come naturally to you, they have a great tutorial that is brief and effective. I especially enjoy that the comic book naturally starts zoomed in on the text on the page and when you tap for the “next page” it goes first to a zoomed out version of the page so you can get the whole picture. Definitely a great app to add to your collection. Included in the Free App ======================== Just in time for Christmas, we are offering the story of the First Christmas free with download! The “Birth of Jesus” comic is 4 pages and tells the story of the angel appearing to Mary, the search for a room at an inn, the birth in a manger and the shepherds visit in stunning full color comics. (Part of the “Land of Nazareth” full comic). Available for In-App Purchase ============================= Each additional comic is 25 pages in length, and includes not only the comic book style bible stories. Currently available for in-app purchase is: “Land of Nazareth” ($2.99) 25 Pages Including: Annunciation of the Birth Birth of Jesus Visit of the Wise Men of the East Childhood of Jesus Baptism of Jesus Temptations of Jesus Call of the disciples Wedding at Cana Sermon on the Mount: the Beatitudes Sermon on the Mount: Love your enemy Sermon on the Mount: the Prayer The full list of titles to be available in-app include: OLD TESTAMENT 1. Paradise Lost (the Genesis) 25 pages 2. Deep in the desert (the Exodus) 25 pages 3. The word of the prophet (biblical characters) 25 pages NEW TESTAMENT 4. Really lovely, well thought out comic book By: hilarywhitney - Dec 15, 2009 Version: 1.0 I really enjoyed this app for several reasons outside of even the story content itself. A Comic Book Bible! AMEN! By: PlayingDoctr - Dec 15, 2009 Version: 1.0 When I was growing up, I had a two inch thick comic book bible that I use to read before going to bed. At one point, my parents told me that the Sunday School teacher commented that I already knew all the bible stories that they were teaching - and that was why! No kid wants to try to read the standard bible - too much small print and no pictures is just way too daunting. The stories though facinate them, and when presented properly - like they are here - can help enrich them and help them grow spiritually.
Rating based primarily on concept... By: dsytnr - Dec 15, 2009 Version: 1.0 The concept and format are great. There wasn't always three panels as advised in the "how to" section, but it was fairly easy to navigate. I think the language could also be more simplified to meet the younger age group and still get the message across. I don't know if there would be a demand for this to be narrated (especially with the different language options - this would allow exposure to the Bible as well as to other languages). It may expand the age that would have access to this. I think flipping through the pages is a nice touch. I could see where parents attending church could use this to have their children participate in the message and not be "bored" in an adult setting.

Great concept and awesome layout By: mrsbkw - Dec 15, 2009 Version: 1.0 This is a great app for kids and 'older' kids! I liked the way it works, flipping pages thru the comic book. Excellent teaching tool, my 9 yr old really likes using it.
Great App - Educational & Fun By: ladedagrl - Dec 15, 2009 Version: 1.0 Beautiful app that is a terrific blend of technology and design. Impressed that it is available in so many languages! My kids are learning Spanish and French - so we downloaded The Birth Of Jesus comic in those languages and are having fun translating. The comic style is a great way to engage the kids in Bible stories. Looking forward to the additional content.
Bring on the Good News By: UCShanDiego - Dec 20, 2009 Version: 1.0 I love the concept, and Im suprised it took this long to get a comic book bible on the iPhone, I just wish they had used the Good News Bible version as the grammer is better suited to a younger audiance. Keep up the good work!
Children's bible By: Rocky Librarian - Dec 18, 2009 Version: 1.0 It was pretty cool and my kids enjoyed it - though not something I can see someone really needing. Also the language was a bit old fashioned for the kids - might be better with more modern language to reach the kids.
And it was written By: checkyaself - Dec 17, 2009 Version: 1.0 The art and visual parts of this app are exactly as advertised. The translation (while totally accurate) isn't what I want in a comic. I do think there is room for simplifying/modernizing the bible in a format like this without offending people. I would totally buy more books if I didn't have to explain so much of the language to my kids. Thrilled with the concept and okay with the execution.

Simple, easy to follow but.... By: Basketguy - Dec 15, 2009 Version: 1.0 A couple of the pages were missing dialogue. It was easy to follow the characters and who was speaking. I wish more units were free. The illustraions are a bit simple. Overall fair
childrens bible By: a davis - Dec 15, 2009 Version: 1.0 i went through the app and its just ok..I dont beleive many will actually sit down and read this on a phone to a child. and I am sure kids wont have an iphone to read. its nice but I would never pay for it for my family..sorry
This app is a foot in the door for pay comics. And censored. By: Zokapi - Dec 16, 2009 Version: 1.0 This app is polished technically and appears to be written with sincere intentions. But downloading it only invites you to purchase more comics for $2.99. The application itself, is just a comic holder. The 'free' part is 4 pages of the 25 page Nazareth Comic. As well, the stories, 'for children' are censored. Surely the old testament contains material that is not appropriate for children. But how can one choose which parts to omit? The comic appears to pick and choose. It leaves in that mary was a virgin, but leaves out why generations of people fear god. I agree with the author that much of the bible is not appropriate. But why not an app that talks about what the bible actually says? Won't censored versions only teach believers to hide from their texts? Instead of preying on believers with a free app that allows you to buy things and glossing over what many believers consider 'the unerring word of god' try keeping beliefs on the table. Sincere believers may struggle to reconcile the inappropriateness of the bible with their experiences of morals and ethics in the modern world. The author's attempt to exploit that struggle is the offensive part.
