Awesome for on the go reading...Killer Night Reading! By: MattJohnson0001 - Oct 16, 2009 Version: 2.0 What do when you are shopping with the wife, waiting for the kids at school, or sitting in the doctor's office and you the thriller you are halfway through is at home. With Shortcovers I can have it with me on the go! It has been a lifesaver. Plus the page flipping and user adjustable options (I love night riding!) are the best of any of the ebook readers I have tried on the iPhone or the Kindle.....
Now best ebook app for iPhone! By: Distractor - 13-Nov-2009 Version: 1.5.1 Such a huge improvement in this new version! Having used Stanza, eReader, etc. I've decided that Shortcovers is the best of the bunch. Full store right in the app - I can browse everything without getting thrown to some web page in safari. Super simple to buy. Great reading experience. Prices are awesome. Offline reading for flights, subway. Integrates to twitter, so i can tell my friends when im reading something good. And I can take my books with me to another device like a Sony Reader - I'm not locked into Kindle hardware. Things I'd love to see: some kind of frequent buyer program. Would be great to earn some credits as I buy more. Great work!
wow - huge improvement, thousands of great books By: P Winzy - 23-May-2009 Version: 1.5 Love the new reading experience, and built in features, popular and other lists. You can personalize your reading settings (font, colours, night reading...), how you scroll/turn pages. With the built in store functionality this is a pretty complete package. Seems like more content too at pretty cheap prices...plus more FREE content. They still need to provide a better browsing experience - like being in a store - so i can navigate by genre. Hopefully that's coming next. I'd also like to see some OS3.0 features...maybe also take advantage of location.... all in all a big upgrade.
Love everything but the discontinuity By: Photo kid - Oct 28, 2009 Version: 2.0 I've used shortcovers along with ereader and kindle on my iPhone. Love shortcovers settings and book selection. Very easy to use. Great to have access to another whole set of books as alternatives to my other readers. The only negative is the chopped up books. I read late at night in 'black background' mode; I don't enjoy the "white screen" that shows up every time a new section is loaded. This is also a bit annoying in daytime, I read quickly and don't like to wait to load every few pages. Can you fix the discontinuities? When you do, and add a bunch more mystery and suspense and world authors, I'll up my rating to 5 stars. For now, well done!!
Not bad By: jake137 - May 25, 2009 Version: 1.5 This app offers first chapters, which is great, because it saves you from buying a book and then not liking it. I wish more offered this. Try-before-you-buy is a great feature. There are also tons of free books to check out.
On the downside, it quits a lot when you're browsing books, and there's no way to lock rotation. Other than that, this app is reasonably easy to use and the text is easy to read.
A good start... but has some room for improvement By: CN31672 - Feb 28, 2009 Version: 1.0 I have been waiting for this app for a while now. After some initial pains in setup (I think the app was running before their site was working properly), I was able to purchase a book and download it to my iPhone. Only problem is that the book was unreadable; garbled text, etc.. So why am I giving this a 4-star rating??? Well customer service quickly responded to my incident and told me that they would not charge me for the book, told me that the fix for the issue was already submitted to Apple and should be available early next week, and also would let me know when the new release was out so that I could read the book free of charge. With customer service like that, I am certain that they will get the less than perfect interface up to par, and that this will be the premiere ebook reader for the iPhone.... 4-Stars for customer service and potential of this app... :)
Great Start. Huge Potential for this eReader. By: App-etizer - Feb 28, 2009 Version: 1.0 Speaking as an owner of an Amazon Kindle & Sony PRS 505, I can say that this application does have some great things going for it, and room for improvement. I love the Free Chapter feature and have already found a few "next reads" using this feature. I am a bit puzzled though that I could not purchase the entire book for a few of the sample chapters I read. I would also like to eliminate the scrolling of text in favor of a simple tap or swipe to page forward or back. The reading experience is fine and I did not have any issues with eye fatigue. A variety of background colors would be nice to have. It synchs flawlessly with the Shortcovers webs site and the content will only get better. With a few tweaks, this app will be superb. Oh yes, I do read more since my iphone is always with me and can whip it out when the mood hits me. The Kindle & Sony, great as they are, are not something I carry around with me all the time, so Shortcovers offers me that flexibility and convenience. Give it a try.
Find something new! By: Jdoherty000 - 9-Nov-2009 Version: 2.0 I love being able to have access to so many online books and have consistently taken advantage of the free books of the week - purchasing books is so easy from my touch and any communication I have had with the shortcovers team has been courteous and helpful.I sometimes wonder what draft version of the books we get on this software as there gas almost always been typos in the books I have read - I guess I won't complain about the free ones!
Great Application By: JerrytheIpodGamer - 27-Oct-2009 Version: 2.0 I had one book that wouldn't work right, but all the rest are working great - one chapter leading into the next, automatically saving exactly where you left off in each book.I was getting the problem of needing Internet access to read the books or to switch from one book to another - which drove me crazy on the bus when I do much of my reading on my Ipod - UNTIL I found out this app has a setting as to how much space it will store books in on your device. Once I changed my settings (I figured I could allocate one GB to all my books, and wouldn't have to worry about it later), I have not had any problems accessing books or switching between books - as they were now located on my Ipod and I didn't have to get any (or the rest) of the book online.
Perfect for arthritis hands By: Bobby132 - Nov 12, 2009 Version: 2.0 I have rheumatoid arthritis and holding books has become too painful for me. The Shortcovers app for iPhone has allowed me to enjoy my books again!

Simple and functional By: Eco-gal - Nov 3, 2009 Version: 2.0 Being able to switch to night mode is great, allows night reading without disturbing others or dealing with semi effective reading lights. Also you can turn off auto rotate easily to read laying down.
