It's actually a pleasure to use this app to read a book. I love how the programmers took advantage of the accelerometer inside the iPhone. I read very quickly, and I always hate having to wait for the next page to "uncurl", or "unfold". I started reading about 10 minutes ago, and am already on chapter 4. Good job! Totally user-definably in all regards. I hope to see more books from these guys! Keep up the good work.

Loved this app!! Adorable short story and great interface, I loved the scrolling but am a very quick reader so I turned it off. I think there should be a bigger range of scrolling speed, but other than that, neat!! :-D I gotta say, I preferred the movie though. It's crazy how they made a three hour movie from a tiny short story like that, but it's cool! Still, maybe I'm a little biased- the short story didn't have Brad Pitt, topless, on a motorcycle!!! What can you do- that was the movie's trump card. :-) Can I just say, I've been reading loads and loads of stories about Brangelina breaking up and Brad texting and having coffee with Jen. IS IT TRUE????????? I HOPE SO, ANGELINA IS sooooo ANNOYING AND A FREAK. JEN IS AWESOME AND HER AND BRAD MAKE THE CUTEST COUPLE!! I HOPE ITS TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, whatever. Get this app. It's fun and neat. And cute and funny. I really like the story. I'm sure you'll like it too!! I use Classics to read books like these usually. This is a really good way to read as turning pages can be quite annoying and interrupts your flow. Tilting the phone changes the speed of scrolling which takes zero time to get used to. They have hundreds more books you can buy but they're a bit overpriced since they're just text files and easily downloaded for free from the internet anyway. Hopefully more book reading apps will employ this tilt-to-scroll technology soon.

Not an especially good story in my view, but (obviously!) that's not the app's fault; the app itself is very good. The text size is just right and the interface is intuitive. I was dubious about the automatic scroll, but actually it's really good, very easy to use. Have now downloaded other books from these developers and am similarly impressed with their usability. Look forward to more. The fact that they're free means you can't lose. Great work!!!

Why such a reaction u may ask. It's beacause I am a 27 year old man who has never read a book in his life, apart from Of Mice and Men, when I was at school and I only heard it being read, never got in to it. This little story had me craveing more, was reading it at work and couldn't stop, contemplateing a book for the first time ever, hope it will be as good as this little story. Good app, good work app people. (Never knew reading was good fun.) Thank you.

I absolutely love the BeamItDown software.I Have a Christmas Carol too, it's just so much easier and less tiring to have the text scroll by! Much better than other readers. (I like the how to at the start of this one too). As for the comments on content - these are all books now in the public domain, hence the free or 59p! If you want Harry Potter etc you'll need to be prepared to pay around £20 for it (audio book price, plus a bit for work put in by these guys. That's assuming the publishers would let it go, which I doubt!) Excellent app, if you're unsure go for it -what have you got to lose?

To the reviewer below : The film is BASED on the book ! Of course it won't be exactly the same !! And fine , if you think it's rubbish it's your opinion but I would DEFINETELY recommend this, it is way worth the download .. and if you are in need of space it takes about 2h ( depends on your speed of reading -- it took me less than an hour ) to read so you can delete once you've read it ! A must download .. it's FREE What bad can it do ?

What a great idea... The tilting works perfectly, I got the feel for it in less than a minute.... Totally intuitive. I shall definitely buying other books using this great app. Highly recommended! To the previous reviewer who have this one star because this book is the text of the original F. Scott Fitzgerald novel and not the screenplay of the (admittedly fantastic) current film ADAPTATION- you are a total pratt.

Bravo! This is an exceptionally well done product.

There are prettier reading apps out there, but this one is by far the best for actually reading books. There are no fancy graphics and sound effects to distract you, just large, easy to read text scrolling by smoothly. This makes it very easy to get lost in the material which is what reading is all about. I was considering the 50 book collection that they have and after trying out the reader with this freebie, I am definitely going to buy the big collection so I always have something great to read with me.

For any of you that haven't Been to high school and heard of F. Scott Fitzgerald; he writes short stories. The movie was based on a "short" story. So don't get mad about it being so short. The story is amzing, the idea is genius and the story puts it all into perspective so nicely. Love the story of Benjamin. The movie was great, should have beat out Slumdog Millionaire but that's a different story. LOL. F. Scott Fitzgerald is a BEAST!

It's short, but great! At first I thought this was a short version of the book, I found out THIS is a short story, not a novel. So it's worth it! Very interesting!! I love the features it has and I think I will buy the full version and by that I mean the 100 books app, I never thought I'd read books on my iPhone I thought it would strain my eyes too much but it didn't, the font was large and it was great! Plus it's free!!! The only thing bad might be spelling errors in some parts but I don't mind them, not so many I can't understand it--so two thumbs up!

Bravo! This is an exceptionally well done product.

I had hoped for a reader app, a la the Kindle, when I first got my iPhone, but didn't find any. I am so happy to now find one! The interface is perfect. Just set the type style and size to your preference, then start reading! Getting used to controlling the speed of the scroll with the tilt of the iPhone is almost automatic. I stumbled on the freebie sample when I was on a train - bored out of my mind and uncomfortable in my seat. Reading on the iPhone took me away just like a real book would have. Right away I ordered the 50 books for $9.99 so I'll always have something to read as long as I have my iPhone on hand.

An essential read - BeamIt's great!

Okay, it is not the best story it lacks depth and doesn't seem to explain what happened to many of the characters, like Mr and Mrs Button and Hildegarde. However despite this it it essential reading especially if you have or are going to see the movie. It is great to know what the movie is based on and as a result of reading the story I personally appreciate the adaptations which were made. BeamIt is a amazing and makes reading that much easier. I do hope though that the BeamIt guys to add a wider range of books covering different genres.

Love this application!! Works well and has had no problems with it all. Takes a few minutes to get used to but I lived being able to enjoy a book on the go that's very easy to use. Very well thought out.
