Great recorder for a free app. Thanks! Here are some improvements that would get me to dish out 5 or 6 bucks (after-all I can do all of the following for free on my pc, but I want to save time with my iPhone) 1. I would buy the paid one if I could convert my files to different formats (mp3,wav,etc) after I've recorded my clip. 2. Let me attach a sound clip to a new email from within iTalk. 3. Add a conversation recording feature so you can record your phone meetings. Then with the conversion tools I suggested earlier, you could format, email and post your recordings completely from your iPhone.

I've actually had this app on my phone for many months and barely used it until this morning when I was listening to rather complex lecture and decided to give it a try. Okay, wow...even though I was sitting at the far side of the room it caught the lecture perfectly. Nor did it stop randomly like I've experienced other players do. The free wifi sync is simply awesome. I also like how the screen rotates depending on which end of the phone you want to use to record with. I want to find other uses for this application now!

I use the app to record myself at chorus rehearsals so I can review later. It's great for that, and great for recording meetings as well. I wish I had this when I was in school! There's two things on my wish list for the app tho- 1- a way to stop/start recordings using the apple headset so I don't have to reach into my pocket to do it 2- a way to adjust the gain on the mic. I find that my singing often causes the recording to clip, but I can't put the mic farther away because it'll pick up too much of other people instead of just me. Is there a directional mic with build in gain control for the iPhone? That'd be sweet! Cheers!

I downloaded this thinking that it would be another one of those "you get what you pay for" apps. Not so -- this is a great app and does the job. I recorded several voice blurbs and they came out fine. I started using this app to record my music and play it back and make personal albums on iTunes. It records in AIFF but in iTunes, you can convert to MP3, add info, album art, etc. This app is very useful and highly recommended.

All the others I had were ones where you have to email each note one at a time, so irritating. I m recording 2 minute song ideas constantly... this app lets you drag them all in one go over wifi - I just transferred 9 ideas in less than a minute. Fantastic app - and it's free?? WHAT? I don't know what the fuss is with a tiny advert at the bottom - doesn't interfere with functionality whatsoever! I would pay upto £4.99 for this - less than I spent on all the others!

Brilliant in terms of sound quality, on a par with SpeakEasy and much better than the IMA compressed iDicto - iTalk interface needs a lot of work, particularly with regards to placement of buttons. First off it is as easy to click the ad at the bottom of the page as it is to hit 'Done' especially if walking etc. What happens at this point is that the App Store loads and you LOSE the recording you are making ALL OF IT. There is also no way to discard a recording and start again. There is no way to append a recording. Like SpeakEasy suffer the same random digital glitches (loud burst of noise for no reason in a recording). Brilliant in terms of file transfer and by far the best recorder I have tried so far with drag and drop interface.

Previous to downloading iTalk, I used Voxie Pro for my dictations. However, the latter could only transfer recordings to my Mac by email. Surely there was an easier way? Using the small client application, transferring recordings can be done wirelessly and so this is now my weapon of choice for mobile recording and another tool to make my lovely new iPhone a truly mobile device. Highly recommended!

People don't seem to have time to update their bad reviews, even after updates fix the problem. I use this with iPod touch 1st gen and it works flawlessly with the mccally ivoice iii. The sync feature is great (on mac - don't use pc). Files can go straight into iTunes, or even into garage band if that 's your thing. Oh, and it's free...how can anyone complain about that? Installing can be a challenge for touch owners, but there are ways fortunately Finally, the icon is really cool - which is a must when this apps usefulness places it on my first page of apps...ok, that's not so important...

I'm a university student and I currently record all my lectures using a Olympus dictaphone. These recordings are of great use when it comes to problem sheets, assignments and revising, and I'm certainly a grade up because of it. I stumbled upon this App by accident and I'm so glad I did because it's AMAZING! The sound quality is fantastic! It's on par with my current Olympus dictaphone. Using WI-FI you can effortlessly transfer your recordings to iTunes for easy audio management and organisation. The only problem seems to be how it handles incoming text messages (see earlier reviews). My suggestion to the problem would be to record in Offline mode to a.) prevent the recording being cut short. b.) preserve battery life. The product is so good that it's now replaced my current dictaphone!

I've used this app since before apple decided yo release their version. Apples is definitely best suited for a quick few seconds note. I attempted to use apples recorder for class and recorded over an hour. Sad thing is I was never able to replay my recording. When I attempted to listen to it it just hung after a resart of the app it said the recording was 0 seconds. I gladly came back to this recorder and easily record over 60 minutes with ease and actually CAN listen to them again. Great app!!!!

Unlike some of the other reviewers of this app, I love love it. It works exactly as billed. Who are you people wanting to record phone conversations? On the other hand, I love this program for conducting recorded interviews that later need to be transcribed. The fact that there is a meter to determine how well the conversation is being picked up makes this unique and helpful as a voice recorder. Furthermore, because italk sync can be used on any computer, I can easily transfer the file to whomever I want. Great app!!
PS ~ the ad banners are miniscule and so easily ignored if you're actually paying attention to the person you are interviewing.

Read this if you're skeptical..

When I first saw this app, I thought it was too good to be true. Then I actually downloaded it and set the sound quality to "best", and I realized how amazing the sound is. Don't listen to the people saying that the quality is terrible--they just don't know what they're doing. If you're not screaming into it, and use something to block the wind from your mouth (or simply turn the mic away from your mouth), you should get excellent sound quality for whatever you're doing. I hope this helps!

To sync on your Mac open file sharing!

This is the BEST app I have on my iPhone! The playback quality on ITunes is fantastic and clear! Not so loud on my iphone though.
I have recorded numerous phone and person to person conversations very conspicuously.
This is a MUST for every iPhone!
For everyone having problems syncing onto your Mac, you must allow Sharing under your System Prefrences. It downloaded flawlessly the first time on my Mac.
