 Works!   rating of Remote Desktop Lite

I was able to connect to my 64 bit Windows 7 computer in under 5 minutes. Also, if you want to be able to connect over a 3G network you need to log into your router and set up forwarding to your computer for port 3389. Once that is done you use the app to connect to your router's external IP address and port 3389. That will allow you to connect to your computer.More detailed instructions (with pictures for those who do not want to read ) are available on the developers site.

Why Bad Ratings?  rating of Remote Desktop Lite

This app works perfectly fine, if you know what you're doing. If you are on a mac... good luck! Pay attention to details: MICROSOFT Remote Desktop. Yes, you need to type in your password, and username. If your computer is on a network, you need to set up port forwarding!!! You can't just type in your ip address. Make sure firewall is not blocking the server and the #1 reason it won't work: Enable Remote Desktop by right clicking my computer, properties, then remote.

Fantastic Application  rating of Remote Desktop Lite
By: Zimbolite - 15-Dec-2008

This app was the deciding factor for me to get an iPhone over a blackberry. It has been rock solid and is the most important app on my phone. Some commenters have criticized the speed and maybe don't understand that the network connection controls the refresh and smoothness. On wifi this thing is butter for me. Also, to those users experiencing crashes, upgrade to the latest iPhone/touch OS version and always do a complete shutdown of the iPhone/touch before running software for the first time. If you want even more stability look up side-loading from iTunes. This is an amazingly useful app, well worth the $$$ for full version. That the light version is this useful deserves compensation.

It's a FREE App Folks!  rating of Remote Desktop Lite
By: Walling117 - Dec 22, 2009

This App does what it says it does. Why people whine about a useful and free app is beyond me. It has worked great for me. I have successfully connected my VPN and used it across a normal VPN connection. So what it doesn't have VPN built in, it didn't claim to have it. I am disappointed that the purchased version still doesn't have gateway support but overall this is an excellent App for the money you pay. Great job MochaSoft!

Great app  rating of Remote Desktop Lite

Used this app on 3 win 2003 servers without any problems. It is perfect for my needs, which is connecting to the servers in a hurry to gauge/fix any issues. The only downside is no fault of the app and its the screen size. I reccommend using a stylus to help click some of the smaller buttons. Will consider the full version woth added features if I start to use this app more often, which I think is more than likely!

Life Saver  rating of Remote Desktop Lite
By: zFrenchman - Nov 24, 2008

this app saved my life. one time in my history class, I forgot a project at home before I went to school. to save myself, I used this program with vista and emailed the file to myself and was then able to access the file on my phone and get it at school. other than that, it's way better than windows mobile, and it runs quickly and easily. one drawback, I can't seem to be able to right click but typing is fine.

Excellent RDP Client  rating of Remote Desktop Lite
By: Daldis - 13-Dec-2009
Version: 2.2
This is a fast, stable and responsive remote desktop client for MS Windows with zooming, landscape mode, keyboard and mouse support, pretty much everything you need to work remotely. But understand that you must be using a version of Windows that actually supports remote desktop and that you have properly configured your firewall and remote desktop security options on your Windows PC. Read that carefully and check your PC before you post a review claiming that this exellent product does not work.

Great App  rating of Remote Desktop Lite
By: 4t0mik - Nov 5, 2008

Great free (but limited) app. Needed an RDP connection while visiting parents. Their computer died and all I had was edge to install and download. While a little slow on edge (WinAdmin is a little faster on edge) it works great on wifi. For those claiming it does not work with Macs or XP Home please inform yourself on the RDP protocol. Heck google it from your iPhone. Vista support would be great though (also Windows 2008 Server). I would avoid VNC if you run Windows. RDP is leaner and faster.

Watch any flash video! Open any application!  rating of Remote Desktop Lite

Brilliant yet simple. Can't beleive people give 2 stars cos they don't know their IP address. By the way for single machine home users just goto whatismyipaddress.com and see your external ip address. The port should be default to work. The username and password is what u use to log in normally. If server admin then very good tool. Simply access just like RDP within win server 2003. you can do anything you would normally just on a small screen and amazingly over 3g. If just wifi then I would not be that impressed but this is true mobility. Oh and it's 40bit encrypted though I still used VPN. Access my server with option to log in locally. Can do emergency tasks on the road like disable user accounts or reset passwords. Yesterday I forced a full server back up to external hard drive as boss worried about G20 summit. Didn't have to go into town. Did it while laying in bed with Mrs!! Obviously slow refresh because sending screenshots across 3G but the processing is at the speed of the host server so totally plausible to use iPhone now to show and access; view/edit all files like illustrator files or mpegs or websites with flash. Anything your host pc can open. Run skype on the host of and you can chat over 3g (but no voice as no audio but theoretically you could run skype phone calls). Enjoy.

Very nice app  rating of Remote Desktop Lite
By: itsthemick - Sep 1, 2008

Before more of you nubs cry "Mac support", understand that RDC is specific to Windows and is not a protocol designed for use with the Mac. Try understanding what an app is meant for before you post bad reviews. Use their VNC client and VNC over ARD or OSXVNC if you want remote desktop access to your Mac. This works perfectly with my Windows Server 2003 box (even though the info states XP only). MochaSoft has made a lot of nice terminal emulation apps for the PC over a lot of years. It's nice to see them developing the same great apps on the iPhone now! Right-click support in the free version would have been nice, but that's just the cheapskate in me talking :-) Nice work!

Can't wait to but the full version.  rating of Remote Desktop Lite
By: daev66 - Aug 21, 2008

I use remote desktop daily being a technician for a alarm company. I schedule my own work and most the time I'm away from the office. This program far exceeds the usability of the remote desktop program for my work supplied WM6 phone. Mostly because of the ability of the iPhones detailed display and the touch capabilities. Zooming is great, flick a finger and it glides around the screen. I see some carry over of images ghosting over the start menu at the bottom of the screen. It has also shut down a couple times in my first 30 minutes but I'm overall thrilled to have this. Tomorrow I will be selling iPhone to everyone in the office. This should be expanded in a third version to also connect to your mac OSX computer at home.

Superb!  rating of Remote Desktop Lite
By: Slyzaar - 21-Aug-2008

Absolutely incredible!
I was getting really annoyed with all those other apps that make you register your server and user details on a web page which then acts as proxy to connect you.
This one is brilliant - worked instantly!
Update: There is nothing confusing about using it - you enter the ip address and credentials and connect - if you cannot do that then you shouldnt be using it at all! For you to grade it poorly because of that is just sad.
As for VNC - well VNC requires you to have VNC server installed on the host - this app DOES NOT - it works with Microsofts RDP which is already on the target machine (Win XP).
Once again - brilliant!
Surprisingly responsive with EDGE too.
Great job!

Seems to work well  rating of Remote Desktop Lite

Installed and worked well. I need to do more testing, so far it looks great. I'm considering the full price version. For those complaining, keep in mind you need to enable remote desktop in XP first. Search for "configure remote desktop XP". Also, if you're behind a router you'll need to configure the router to redirect traffic to your machine. Search for "configure remote desktop router XP". It will require some comfort level with computers though. Good luck.

Great for MIS/Network Admins  rating of Remote Desktop Lite

If you know you're stuff, this little app is great in a pinch. I installed it, even though the description said Windows XP only. I was able to connect to Windows 2003 R2 server on a 3G connection. Speed was very good. This program includes the ability to specify server name (in lieu of IP address), as well as custom port for RDP listener. Those that gave 1 star reviews obviously don't know what they're doing.

works great, its just lite.  rating of Remote Desktop Lite

doesn't have all the features some of the paid apps have but very good none the less. Please don't listen to the people giving this app a 1 star review because it doesn't work with XP Home or Vista Basic. These OS's don't support remote desktop, its not the apps fault. Before you use any rdp app you should learn how to use RDP and have it setup and working correctly from PC to PC, then get this app.

It works!  rating of Remote Desktop Lite
By: LongOaks - Jan 17, 2010

Just as long as you realize you have to be on the SAME network as your PC, this app does exactly what it says it does! You CANNOT be 500 miles from home and expect to connect to your PC unless you have a public IP address for it (why would you???!?). If your office has Wi-Fi and you can connect to it with your iPhone, then you could access your office computer and check to see if an email has arrived while you're in a meeting.
