Description:
Northwestern, Northeastern, North Carolina, and Notre Dame - schools sound so similar. How do you sort it out? This App helps visually oriented students by presenting a map of each school on a clock chart where "Bigger means more." More students who are there, more students who come back, more students who apply, more students who get in, more students who get aid, more students with great SAT scores, more emphasis on academics, more emphasis on social life, more emphasis on quality of life, it is all there in the chart. Look carefully to find more or less, whatever you are looking for. And the charts do show clear differences: Northwestern is not Northeastern, and not North Carolina, but it looks a whole lot like Notre Dame. These charts help people extend the knowledge that they do have about one particular university to others they may be less familiar with. Every school shown is listed in the 2009 edition of the FISKE GUIDE TO COLLEGES. These schools are all good in one way or another. The key is in finding a good match that serves well now and in the future. If you are good at recognizing differences with your eyes, perhaps an athlete or an artist, this app may be for you. If you are all about words and text, you will find this app wanting to be a book - which it is not! This App can help you sort out why you may like two of the colleges you visited, but not the third. A more holistic demographic understanding can help improve the decision you make. Strongest Programs are a key traction point for any school and are listed here, because some things do not show in the chart. Consider again Northwestern and Notre Dame. Examples showing what a few representative shapes mean and how to quickly visually recognize these colleges can be found here: ➭http://gaitaware.com/shapes-and-names.html ➭http://gaitaware.com/matisse-goes-to-college.html

Reviews:
We have already discussed more than if I had bought a book! By: anrgrgta - Apr 28, 2009 Version: 1.2 Excellent app for anyone with kids starting to look at colleges. My 10th grader is excited that all this is information is in a cool Iphone app!. We have already discussed more than if I had bought a book on this topic. All the info is from a reputable source and the web link for each University is right there. I think just the fact that you can easily save on application fees for one (or maybe more) of the Universities on your list will help you save more than what you would spend for this App… Highly recommended!
Should help conversations By: JustRidingAlong - Jun 22, 2009 Version: 1.2 The support web site has conversation examples and shows what colleges are included.

Almost useless By: Tombalabomba - Apr 14, 2009 Version: 1.1 This will not be a good tool for students or parents. Not enough information and what is listed can easily be found for free through the internet. This should be offered for free since it really seems like an advertisement and teaser to get more information in a Fiske Guide. Hopefully they will upgrade and update with more information and more schools but until then save your money.
