Reviews:
Very Nicely Done App By: SixfingerMusic - May 18, 2009 Version: 2.06 This is a great app for tracking spending. It does everything that it claims to, in a way that makes sense and caters to a wide variety of needs. If you need something for straightforward budgeting, be it daily, weekly, monthly or annually, this is the best dollar you can spend in the app store. I use it every day, and it has been astoundingly helpful and insightful. Thanks to the programmers for putting it together and staying on top of updates.
Excelllent for setting monthly budget up By: solano1625 - Jun 22, 2009 Version: 2.1 This is a great app if u want to keep track of your monthly expenses. It shows you your total budget and when you add expenses it gives you your new balance. Pretty simple huh. Remember your only paying a dollar for this so don't give it a bad review. You can set up recurring payments so every time your budget restarts if your doing it for a check for example it will automatically deduct the recurring payments. This app was real easy to figure out. Good app, looking forward to new updates if any.
Awesome but... By: hawaiianchimp - Jun 28, 2009 Version: 2.1 I bought this app because I start college soon and need to keep track of the money I spend. A few features that need to be added are: 1. A security feature so people who borrow your phone won't see how much you're worth 2. A one-time type budget for budgets that don't reoccur. I currently put it at one-year cycle but when that year is up, I don't want it too add more money automatically.
Best Lightweight Spending Tracking App By: MikeG103 - Nov 27, 2009 Version: 2.24 I've used a couple of other free spending apps, including a very popular one for monitoring your balances. They all worked fine, but this is the best one I've found for budgeting. As a fan of Dave Ramsey's financial classes, I find this app to be superb. I use it to track my personal portion of our monthly budget (lunches, fuel, coffees, miscellaneous) and it allows me to keep a detailed eye on how I'm spending my money. I found the app to be simple and straightforward enough. I love the clean interface and color coding of budgets. Thanks!
Changing my rating from 5 stars to 1 star due to update By: thenelsons1215 - Nov 12, 2009 Version: 2.24 The new update (downloaded on 18 Dec 08) makes the semi-monthly setting unusable. All of expenses for dec are being applied to the 2nd half of the month. I actually wrote down every expense from both budgets for the last two months, deleted the app, reloaded it onto the iTouch, reentered every expense and the problem remains. Expenses entered with dates after the 15th of the month are not being counted against the total budget and are not affecting the total budget remaining on the main page. Help!! Here's my original post: I have downloaded and tried more than 10 of the budget tracking apps (both free and paid) in the past month. My wife and I each have a couple of budget categories with a set amount of money we allocate each pay period. None of the apps had a well organized budget tracking system that is also simple to manage and update until I got to Spend. My problem was that I am in the military and get paid twice twice a month versus every 2 weeks. I e-mailed the developer and explained my situation. Less than 5 days later a new update was posted that added the semi-monthly (budget starts on the 1st and 15th of each month) budget capability. I have purchased the full version of spend, used it for a week, and deleted every other budget tracking app I was testing. Nice work guys. Thanks!!
Great app By: Intopath - 9-Oct-2008 Version: 1.28 Really worth the price. It could use some more customization in future updates to make it easier for those who don't aloways have the same budget each week. ( like a part time worker ) but it is easy to use by simply adding or subtracting the difference from a regular paycheck as a deposits or expences. This app can serve pretty much anyone well. I definately recomend it. Warning the previous reviewer states that this app doesn't support going over budget ( negative values ) this information is incorrect. Negative values appear red instead of green and do carrie over to the next week.
A Great, Simple App By: the fred - Jul 26, 2009 Version: 2.15 This app does exactly what it promises to do, and does it well. If you're looking to quickly and easily watch your spending (as broken into different categories), this app is for you. This app *will not* balance your entire checkbook, as it is not intended to. There are other more complicated and convoluted apps out there already doing that. There *are* a couple of small tweaks that would be nice, such as removing the default amount of 0.00 being filled in that I have to erase each time to replace with my own. However, all-in-all this is a strong app that is well worth the purchase price.
I love it! By: Dohcker1 - Aug 13, 2009 Version: 2.15 Yes. It's complex. But that's what I love about it. It has everything I need to not only log my budgets and expenses but it also analizes where and when my money goes! I highly recommend downloading the lite version firs. Once you get the hang of it, then buy this app. You WILL love it too. For first time budgeters, learn to budget and manage your money before buying this app. Then use this app as a tool to help you. Again, download LITE version! I'm just saying that because I've read the reviews and it looks like that the star score of this app has been hurt by people that don't know much about money management.
decent application for simple expense management By: tanuki boss - Jul 10, 2008 Version: 1.41 I wanted an application that I could input my current expenditures, and in a fly, see how much I had left in my budget. It works just like that, it's very simple, clear, and useful. Don't expect anything more of the application, I didn't as it's all I wanted. There is a bug in that when you go to enter a new quantity, there is already a preset 0.00 there, that has to be erased. I wish it were blank, or better yet, if entering quantities used the scrolling slot machine entry method used in programs like the timer and such. I await updates to make it simpler and quicker to input expenses.
Great App, Great Price, Continually Improving!!! By: lancespade - 22-Oct-2008 Version: 1.28 This was one of the first apps I bought for my iPhone. I needed something to track my spending on my vacation to Europe. The abiltiy to enter items not only at the time of pruchase, but after the fact with the appropriate time and date made it indispensible to me and my family. I would've been lost without it. Useful updates have continued to make this one of my most used apps. Multiple budgets and colour coding of entries makes it extremely easy to use. Good work Adam!!

Constant improvement! By: steveline60 - Aug 14, 2009 Version: 2.16 Adam has never stopped improving this app. I use it to log all my expenses and rely on it heavily, it is good and getting better with every (frequent) update. I looked back to my first review of a year ago and EVERY feature I requested has been implemented. Rarely will you see an app that starts simple and gradually builds complexity without adding problems. I have happily avoided the chaos of apps like Cha Ching and now bask in the power and polish of Spend.
AWESOME! By: Tracey V - Oct 1, 2009 Version: 2.22 This app is amazing. I love that I can catorigize all my purchases, bills, and my savings with different titles keeping everything seperate and organized. It allows me to micromanage my money so easily. I have actually been spending less and saving more because I see where my money is going and the necessary changes that need to be made. The only thing that would help a lot would be to have a posssible place to make notes. Sometimes I'll write withdrawl for my checkig part and I'd like to be able to note where or what that cash that I took out was used for. PLEASE MAKE THAT CHANGE FOR ALL OF US! Other than that, awesome app! The best one that i have bought!
where all these expectation coming from negative reviewers? By: Russell.K - Jul 14, 2008 Version: 1.0 I don't understand why people are throwing negative review for this small, cheap and decent application. Where all these expectation coming from? it's $1.99 As the application title says "Spend" and description confirms, it is budget software, so why do you expect to track your income? Where all these cheap iPhone users all of sudden coming from? complaining about buck 99 application that actually work.
Very useful and worthwhile By: CoraSparrow - 21-Feb-2009 Version: 1.37 This is a fantastic budgeting app for such a low price! I love that the budget names aren't pre-set and can be modified so I can keep track of exactly what I want. It has definitely helped me keep my sometimes out-of-control spending in check, as well. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a convenient, easy-to-use budgeting app. Just a note: if items you add aren't showing up in the budget, it's probably because the budget it set to start in the future. To fix this, go to settings on the budget screen to change the start date.
Better all the time ! By: Solarian - 27-Mar-2009 Version: 1.4 Despite mixed feelings about the aesthetics of the newest version with it's gigantic arrows (you'll never please everyone when it comes to interface preferences) this app is still the best 1$ I've ever spent. You can keep a budget on your home computer but having this portable "tracker" for the day to day stuff is an amazing way to actually follow it or figure out what's going awry. Thanks to Spend for continuing to improve a good thing.
Fantastic!!! By: GadgetGirl69 - 23-Jun-2009 Version: 2.1 Simple. Yet thoroughly intuitive. No frills that wind up being a pain in the drain. It takes seconds to record an entry. Only took about 15 minutes to set up my accounts and pertaining budgets. So easy to figure out. I have been using it for a few weeks now and I won't be looking further. This is perfect. Thank you so much for this app. I have tried several others - this is by far the best for my needs. This is one of those instances where less is more.
No gimmicks, flexible enough to use your own budgeting method By: anewname - 16-Oct-2009 Version: 2.22 I started out using the free version, but upgraded to this to show some gratitude to the developer. Finding the new version upon upgrading was a pleasant surprise. This app is extremely useful if you are trying to keep your runaway spending under control. I use cash almost exclusively, and it can be hard to keep track of sometimes. Especially if you make lots of little purchases like I do. I put down every cup of coffee, every pack of gum, every lunch out... everything. I have saved so much money because of this app, it is almost embarrassing. I don't know where it was all going before! I tried looking at a few other budgeting apps. Sure, they have all sorts of fancy charts and categories, but I found that stuff too restrictive and gimmicky. With Spend, I just set up a few basic budgets. For example, Lunches, Friday nights, Sat+Sun entertainment, Transportation and Misc. (I keep Misc. quite small, or things can get out of hand, but it has a rollover balance). Thanks!
So nice so far By: Timbuctoo - 17-Jul-2008 Version: 1.0 Lovely little application, intuitive and easy to use when you're on the go. It's great for a financial hooligan like me. Buy I'd like to enter the same item on two budgets since I pay for expenses from my personal credit card and I'd like to track both without having to enter it twice. And a running total of all the budgets would be nice...And it'd be nice to change the date of entries, but hey at this price it's still a bargain. I'd pay more for a few tweaks. Get it
Great, simple to use budget app, just where you need it - on your iPhone! By: JohndRoman - 14-Jul-2008 Version: 1.0 Having looked at (and tried) a couple of similar applications, this is exactly what I needed! Simple to set up and use, it does exactly what it says 'on the tin' - helps you accurately track your weekly/monthly or annual budgets. Only criticism is that a numeric field starts with displaying "0.00" and you have to backspace, but the developer has said this is already fixed in a new version coming shortly.
Spend is great! Simple but powerful By: pfiffi - 26-Sep-2008 Version: 1.27 Spend does not make the mistake like many other personal budgeting or finance applications by trying to desperately reproducing the complexity you know from business accounting. Personal accounting and budgeting is much simpler and straight forward so should be the application. And Spend does exactly this. There is room for improvements though but they are more nice to have features, like an overall budget that shows the total amount of money available and from which other budgets get their funds from. That overall budget could then be used to track bigger incomes like salary etc and would help to clearly show how much money is used by expenditure budgets and how much is left. Overall, I have to say Spend is by far the best personal financing software for the iPhone available and for just £ 0.59 more than a bargain. It will help you saving pounds from week one.
