Trip Cubby's design, tutorial and features got my money

I paid for one app and tested a few other free lite versions but in the end I kept wanting more, and Trip Cubby had it all. I guess mostly I had to stop being cheap and wishing it was only $2.99, and remember how much Palm apps used to cost me!
• I tried one GPS mileage app (Tripper... which I don't see in the store any more) and I've got to say the GPS idea sounds great, but even if it's off by a mile, you'll need to manually reenter the miles to stay accurate. And that app needed to be always running to keep an accurate mile count. In my tests, based on my start and stop travel, and wanting to do lots on the iPhone meant that whole setup was enough of a hassle to not be worth the GPS convenience. Even with Tripper gone, I'd still expect other GPS mileage apps to have the same downsides.
• Milebug has a nice summary screen, saved destinations, price and other features, but I couldn't get the e-mailed text to look good in Numbers. YMMV
• Milog is nice for turning off fields you don't need, including parking and tolls, the e-mailed reports played nice with Numbers and it's a good price with a free Lite version to test. So I've got to say, if you just *had* to save money, Milog is great.
But Trip Cubby just had it all and it's a pleasure to use. I really appreciate all of the info on their web site and the total Mac-ness of the app. After using it now for a month, I have no complaints, and hey, the $9.99 is a tax deduction, right :-)

Great Little App

I really like this app. It works well and easy. Very intuitive. Exports as CSV file, which is great for my accountant.
My only gripe is that when changing the odometer reading, the scrolling numbers get messed up. For example, it is supposed to go from 0 - 9. If I am already on 8 and want to change the number to 0, the 0 now shows 9 instead. It's just a refresh error, but it really throws me for a loop if I am not paying attention.

I tried several trip & mileage logs and read countless review before finally buying Gas Cubby for $4.99...I was so impressed that I decided to buy Trip Cubby and to my surprise it was only 99 cents when I purchased it. Wanna talk about a deal! I decided to grab Health Cubby too! I run my own limousine business and Gas Cubby & Trip Cubby make it a breeze to keep track of my expenses along with my other drivers. I will be donating more money to App Cubby in the near future.

I use this app for my business needs and it really hits the mark. Since I'm using it for tax purposes I use the "Paid" feature to filter my list. That way only the current related entry appears. When I'm done with the entry I mark it paid. One enhancement I would find useful is to itemize expenses. Even just adding multiple expense amount entries versus one grand total. I use the notes to break down the grand total expenses for the trip. It works but a bit cumbersome.

I originally reviewed this app a few weeks ago.  My first review was realistic but not all together flattering.  Since I really need an app like this, because I am a road warrior driving over 40,000 miles a year for work, I forwarded my review to the people at App Cubby.
Amazingly, they responded, on a weekend, within hours.  We communicated about my issues with the program and it turns out that I found a couple of bugs.  One was making the program crash and the other prevented me from emailing my records.  
Well, this new update, as promised has not only addrssed the stability issues but, has really made this a FANTASTIC app!!!  It solves so many of the problems keeping track of milage for tax purposes and has actually introduced several record keeping shortcuts that will reduce my end of year tax preperation work.  This program is ROCK SOLID and usability is excellent!!
Trip Cubby has probaly SAVED me several hours of tax preperation work...like almost 10 HOURS of work.  My time is very valuable to me and that saving of time, while enabling superior accuracy, is worth 50 TIMES the app price!!!
Just to be involved with a development team that RESPONDS and genuinely CARES is truely amazing!  THANK YOU Trip Cubby team.  You guys are the BEST!!!!

I own and have tried the other milage apps that are out and i really tired to love them. However they always left me wanting more. This app however ROCKS! It has everything you need or would want in an app. Very well thought out, easy to use, looks great, and makes keeping up with your milage a fast and simple. I log over 30,000 miles a year and this app has simplified that process. Watch the great video they have on their website if you want to see just how great this app is. I would highly recommend this app to anyone. My wife and i both have it on our iphone now.

I've been looking for an app like this since the launch of the App Store. I'm on the road a lot for business and have been using the dreaded notebook method of tracking everything. What a pain!
With Trip Cubby, I'm finally able to rid myself of the notebook! The interface works very well and the features are well thought out and implemented. And being able to email the log in an Excel friendly format is wonderful. Looking at the planned updates the developer has listed here, it looks like the app will get better and better.

Great mileage log with many uses!

I bought this app for tracking my mileage as a location photographer. It's great in that it can be set to track many auto related items because of the flexibility built into it. I even use it to track car repairs and oil changes by creating tags for those tasks, but you can eliminate the clutter by filtering those item off when not needed.
After the update, I love the ability to set the mileage via the keypad by changing the setting under the iphone settings menu.
I have had excellent results using the exported files in Apple's Numbers program since I don't use Excel.
Great job on the Trip Cubby application and the documentation on your website!
Keep up the good work!

Fantastic Application

Prior to getting my second generation iPhone, I used a free mileage application on my Palm Pilot. When I first got my iPhone, I was using iPhone Miles, a web application. This web application was perfect for my needs EXCEPT for the fact that I always had to go online to use it. I had been keeping my eyes open for a solid mileage application and was impressed by Trip Cubby's reviews and the tutorial on their website. I went ahead and purchased it and I LOVE it. It has way more features than you could imagine and the support from the company is top notch. I love not having to wait until I get a solid connection to input my mileage data. I simply click on the Trip Cubby, input my data and voila'... I'm set! If you're looking to get a solid application that probably has more features than you'll ever need and great customer support, buy Trip Cubby.

Captures what is needed for business use of vehicles. Pretty easy data entry for ongoing entries. Going back and doing old entries with the Apple provided Date widget was a little tedious but it worked. Tested excel compatible export and it worked.
Update: Had a couple of questions about my particular expense needs and Author responded promptly to my e-mail support request. Not only is the app solid but it is well supported. Good value!

An easy-to-use app, with Polish and Plenty of features

I rate apps hard. But I've been using this one for a year now and have logged thousands of miles in it. It has paid for itself many times over in the miles I can keep track of for my business. I would not normally track miles if it was not an easy and quick and always available (in my pocket).
This is the most expensive app that I have purchased ($10), but it works well and does what it advertises. I love the features in the new version, like adding address book contacts to the trip. WONDERFUL IDEA!
Performance on the 1st Gen iPhone is sometimes a little bit laggy (especially when entering a Contact's name), but making sure you don't keep "incomplete" entries open really helps with the performance, for some odd reason!

The website offers a TRULY informative movie, presenting delightful surprises at virtually every turn as various aspects of the program are demonstrated. Dang near every feature an IRS-conscious user wants is present. And, the intelligent implementation, in both input and execution, is absolutely wondrous.
Search ... Tags ... "Sticky" input, as in remembering the name/car/odometer number last entered ... Ability to include deductible rate per trip, with category (business vs charity vs medical vs other) ... Easy to add back-dated trips ... Punching a button flips open the native email app, with an Excel-friendly file attached, so you can add a message in the body if desired ... Choose which part of the log to export ... The features list, all brilliantly implemented, is simply too long to spread out here.
THIS is the sort and quality of business app I anticipated when news of the SDK dawned. Every needed/desired feature is here, yet the interface is smooth as silk. Now, at long last, I can kick my little notebook to the curb. Highly recommended, withOUT any reservations whatsoever!

I have just finished 2 IRS audits. As soon as they cleared me on one year they started on another. I wish my mileage log had been as clear as it will be in Trip Cubby! I will never again be caught not knowing why I went to a certain place or who I met with 3 years after the fact or having to compare my calendar with my mileage log to satisfy the IRS that I really was working that day. An added bonus is that Trip Cubby creates top of mind awareness of the cost of certain trips and meetings - including volunteer activities and medical appointments. I found it easy to use, though I did have to read the directions.

I love this app. I am a business owner and keep track of mileage. I had a problem and had to reset my phone to new. Since I have been using the Sync for this I lost NONE of my data! I used a different program before and lost everyting. I also use the GAS Cubby and they have both been wonderful!! Will never buy an app that keeps data for me without a sync outside of the ITunes store. If you have to reset and not restore from a backup you are SOL without this feature! I am so impressed, this is the first review I have written.

Got this app for my wife who recently started a small business which will require her to track her mileage, after reviewing many options through the app store I settled on Mileage Cubby despite it's $10 price tag last week, today it's $.99 but you know what it's really worth the money if your needing something that is simple to use and works well for the beginner business person, she loves it's automated functions and ease of use. She is estatic about not having to use a handwritten ledger and adding them all up for tax deduction purposes. Highly recommend this application, great development.

I don't buy very many apps, but this one has proven to be an invaluable timesaver for me. It performs as promised as a simple to use, reliable mileage tracker that really does eliminate the hassle of otherwise having to keep a log with pen and paper. Yet there's something even more outstanding about Trip Cubby...and that's the support from the developers. My emails to them are answered within minutes and that includes the time when I was troubleshooting a minor annoyance...they got to the bottom of it quickly and thoroughly. It's worth mentioning to Mac users that Trip Cubby has no problems at all with handling exported files in Numbers as well as Excel. Well worth the pocketchange price.

More than pays for itself!

I have never been good at keeping track of my miles but this app makes it so easy I finally turned in all of miles with accurate documentation ($397.65 worth). Entering the information only takes seconds. It does the work for you! The milage starts where you left off, the app saves previous trip purposes and destinations so you can use them again, and the red visual reminder (1) on the app (your home screen) helps remind you to complete the trip by entering the final milage. Being able to e-mail all my trips on a combined spread sheet is great and since it's in excel it was easy for me to customize. No calculator needed. I have lost hundreds of dollars because I was not organized with my milage, this one app makes my new Iphone worth it. My blackberry didn't have anything like this!

I use this app almost every day. It's never crashed, and works flawlessly.
This app does everything I need for my business, and a lot more. It's really easy to use, even though I don't use all the features on it.
I follow appcubby on twitter, and they respond to me when I mention them. I've never had to email their tech support. But if they're this easy to get ahold of on Twitter, I'm sure they have pretty good customer service.

Can't wait for the next app

Even though it seems reduntant to add one more rave to the list of rave reviews, I must do it. This is probably the most completely well-thought-out app I've downloaded from iTunes - and I've got a ton of them. Can't wait for the developers to come up with their next projects - Gas Cubby and especially Cash Cubby, which will track business expenses. (Click on their website link to check the progress of the new apps.) This app was so well done it only whets my appetite for more!
