I usually don't write reviews for any app, but I was so compelled to write one after I've been playing this game for past two weeks. It never gets bored and the fun is limitless! I sound so cliche for saying this but it really is the best app i have in my iPhone, so I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for fun, challenging, engaging and exciting game! have fun! BTW, i love the intro music! It's great!
King of tower defence
By: Apidaya - 20-Feb-2009
Even if no more updates were offered up, there is so much game to be enjoyed here. The variety of the towers and the enemies is plenty broad enough to always leave you with several different strategies to try out. The game can sometimes desend into an obsessive tinkering of one or two tiny details just to improve a small amount. There is no question that you will get hooked for hours trying to do better. A perfect example of what is right about iPhone gaming, and a reason why my ds and psp get dusty. The sheer number of reviews for this game surely must have swayed your opinion already? Better than any other tower defence game out there (well out of the six I've bought, tap defence is second best and free so try that out if you want fun for free) if you don't buy this you clearly don't like fun.
Polished, fun experience

Fieldrunners is a very fun, polished tower defense game. The graphics are colorful and the animations are fluid and pleasing. Most importantly, the gameplay is top notch. Though you only have a few towers to choose from, the towers offer up enough strategic possibilities that you can literally play each level completely differently dozens of times. This is the iPhone game I keep coming back to. Highly recommended.
Great, addictive little game!

This game is so much fun! I'd like to see more than 2 fields though. My best rounds are 175 on Grasslands and 150 on Crossroads.
HINT: Build mazes and walls that have entrances on both ends that can be blocked off. That way you can direct traffic through your maze one way, then block off one end and open the other and make them backtrack through the whole maze again. Put all of your towers in the direct path of the helicopters and blimps. It's possible to go an entire game without letting a single ground troop through but it's almost impossible to stop the helis and blimps on the levels past 120. At least 1 or more will get through per time.

Game is fun and easy to start playing. I saw a few problems but nothing serious. Biggest issue as mentioned by other reviews is the limited number of maps, hopefully more will be added in a future version. Other minor nitpicks include : Occasionally towers placement shift when I lift my finger off the screen (would be nice if it noticed I held a spot for a few seconds before it shifted for less than I second as I lifted my finger and possible showed a zoom view of the placement in another area of the screen), and the lack of a short game mode (something like 5~10 stages would be great).
Best Game so far for iPhone
By: Fortysomething Gamer - Nov 24, 2008
You have to be interested in this kind of game, but if you're at all interested in watching battles and military action without having to worry about being killed yourself, or even about running out of ammo, you will love this game. It's so addicting that I purchased it last night just before going to bed, and didn't put the game down for another 4 hours. For those out there who remember the game Lemmings -- think of this as an opposite to that game, where instead of saving everybody, you have to destroy everybody. You pick the defensive robot, and set it's location, and just sit back and watch. Very good sound as well. Worth every penny.
Great app. Money making suggestions!

You should try making the online computer game called box heads. I believe that subatomic particles have way too good graphics and you should use it on this really popular game. Box heads is a very popular game and was popular every where I went from newyork, new Zealand, orange county California, and Atlanta Georgia. This game will make you lots of money since there are so many guys willing to buy this game.

I downloaded this game as I'm a big fan of Pixeljunk Monster's on PS3. While not as complex as Monster's, this game is every bit as addictive and a perfect way to kill lots of time on the iPhone. 1.0 did crash for me every once in a while, but the game never failed to resume right where I was when it did.
UPDATE: with 1.2 this game just keeps getting better! More features, added gameplay, and the most updates out of my many purchases. Highly recommended!
Finely Tuned Tower Defence
By: Tongrhj - 06-Apr-2009
It's actually a pretty typical tower defence, but the presence of all the traditional elements (towers for mazing, towers for splash, towers for massive damage) without any minor/major nuisances (e.g. weird towers that don't work, levels that don't scale well, etc.) makes for a solid game that feels worth the price (especially since its discounted from $4.99 atm!). My only complaint is the inability to play with partial sound (ie. Ngmoco's Mazefinger lets u play your own music with in-game sounds) and the need to pass certain requirements to unlock maps (i paid for the game why shouldn't I get to play all of it). In short, buy it, no regrets.

I was cautious in what I was going to spend my money on, as I didn't want to be disappointed, but I was shown it by my cousin and I bought it the day after. It is so addictive, the cartoon images are brilliant, the graphics are superb and the replay value is through the roof. You start to take time thinking carefully about the best layout and technique for the game. Definitely worth the price, and I recommend this to everyone. It's that good!

In my opinion, and many others, this is the best the app store has to offer at 5 dollars.
You have hours of gameplay and around 10 different enemies! You have 4 different towers all at different prices and someimes you get a great feeling of satisfaction when 20 or so fieldrunners are stopped by your legions of towers!
If you like fun, have 5 bucks and own an iPhone or ipod Touch this is the game for you.
unique and fun

Excellent game because it tests your creativity. Just got it and I love it. Haven't really developed a really good strategy yet because I never earn enough money to build a lot of towers in a creative way. Really worth 2.99. Please update soon and make really easy levels. To the producers: You should make a story mode, or something you could progress through that is somewhat like an adventure mode.

I have spent HOURS playing this game, and it is still fun. Well worth the $4.99 price tag.
The only thing(s) that could improve this game:
1) Add more towers/tower types
2) Add more enemy types
3) More levels
So, it all boils down to adding content. Which, I have a feeling the designers will do, considering that as of 1.1, they added another level, audio, and "endless" mode. Exciting. Best game for the iPhone right now, IMO.

(Version 1.0) There is nothing about this game, graphics aside, that give it an edge over the other available TD games for the iPhone, and when compared to PC TD games, Fieldrunners is EXTREMELY lacking. Want proof? Check out Desktop Tower Defense (google it) next time you're near a computer. However, this is still my most-used iPhone app, and if they give us the promised updates, this game will become a staple for any TD-lover that owns an iPhone.Edit (Version 1.1): It's getting up there. 4 stars now.Edit (Version 1.2): You've finally made it. 5 stars. I can't wait for new content! A must-buy for all iPhone and iPod Touch owners!
Best game I've played in years!
By: Gunny_Highway - 6-Feb-2009
I've been playing video games since the C64 days, and I have to say that Fieldrunners is one of the most balanced and enjoyable games ever! Graphics are great, sound is great, and it is very challenging. Most games in this genre simply make the "difficult" level impossible, but Fieldrunners is extremely balanced at all levels.
For $4.99 it is extremely good value for the money. I've played a good 60 hours over the last couple of months.
I'm really glad for the update with new maps and features. Keep it up!

Best tower defence iv played
By: The guy who did this review tingy0001 - 08-Mar-2009
Like title said, despite fact this is portable it's best turet game iv ever played. Just think of your best turet defense game, make it portable and crisp and add in some field runner magic esence and bake it for 2mins slow roast turning it over every... You get the idea buy the game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Gr8 game worth the money but a temporary drop to 1.79 or 1.19 will send this game up to 1st on payed apps.Could do with something but I don't no what it is. 3maps great graphics and game play, many turets all upgradeable there's nothing really to improve on.
Love this game - longevity
By: Bobywob - Jan 19, 2009
Update:This is the best game on my phone. I've had it since it came out and I still play it, unlike some games you beat and the fun goes away. I LOVE the updates, the developer seemed to get everyone's request in. The crossroads layout is the best were you have multiple bad guys coming at you from two different sides. Love it love it love it. I do really love this game but it crashes on me every two or so minutes. I've performed multiple reboots plus two reinstalls but it continues to shut down constant during game play. Thankfully it pauses at the crash so I can reload the game again and continue where I left off. I subtracted a two stars for the crashing but added one back because of the pause. The other star I subtracted was that game play only allows 100 levels. Come on, keep throwing those buggers at me till I run out of lives.

Well worth the money, developer listens to input and is always working on new updates. Well done and simply a must have. If you haven't bought it yet then stop reading and buy it. If you have it and love it write a helpful and intelligent review.I also think you guys would make a killer RTS style game. You could even use the field runners as units. Just a really cool idea that you guys could pull off with as much polish as fieldrunners. Thank you subatomic studios for killing the battery life of my iPod.Edit: Please keep us notified of updates.
Good game, but needs some stuff..
By: Vinnyboy88888888888 - Mar 19, 2009
I love the new updates, but one that I would really like is a tall tower that can divert the path of the flying feildrunners, that way you could make a 'path' for the planes and such so that they dont just have a straight shot. You should ba able to put any type of weapon on top of the tower and upgrade as usual. Also, I think that when you upgrade your towers, their attack diameter should grow with each upgrade.
