This game has a feature where if you get the number in the incorrect spot it becomes red which makes the game more guess and check than actual logic. This poor aspect diminishes the object and point of the game. Take solitare for example: if you forget to place a card in the right spot it doesn't tell you your error but makes you pay for your mistake by losing the game. this makes players more aware and less reliant on the corrections it will make. PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP!!!!!! THANK YOU TO LORD ABSOL I FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT FOR SAYING THIS STUFF WRONGLY CRITICIZING THE GAME. Great job developers!!!

Maybe the Best Free App

I never got into playing Sudoku until I found this App. The Free version has an excellent, easy to view GUI and the difficulty levels are just right.
It did seem to me that the Medium level became more difficult with the last Update, but maybe it's just my aging brain. I spend more time playing Soduku that any other App.
I've tried other Sudoku apps but find this one to be the best, so far.

Not everyone needs to pencil in possible numbers. I never have used them to solve sudoku puzzles and I've been able to solve every puzzle I've come across so far. To me it makes it far too easy if you pencil in the possibles because then you have an absolute, definitive way of solving it. If you keep track of things yourself it makes it more challenging and less of a sure thing. I'm not saying that you should play like I do, I'm just saying there are more ways to play it. I'm sure there are plenty of other people out there that thing the pencil in number feature just gets in the way. If you need/want this feature, this application is not for you, but I have no need for it so the application receives a 5 from me.

This is a great app considering it's free. You get to play different levels of sudoku's in your own choice of coloured backgrounds. When your iPhone is locked, the timer pauses for you and you can also change the options, for example you can choose whether or not it can show you if you get one incorrect. Very proffessional, and at the same you can have loads of fun. The layout is so much nicer than other Sudoku apps out. By the way, I love the Japanese theme! Thanks x

Wow. For a free app, this is the best I've ever gotten! I play this alllll the time. There are only 10 games per level, but I play them over and over. It's not like you remember! I always try to beat my best time. :-) I REALLY like the ease of the note feature. It truly is a great free app (and I download a lot of apps!). I've never had an issue with freezing or anything. If you like Sudoku and you want a game to help pass the time (I'm a train commuter, so I have lots of free time) - this is definitely the one for REPLAY ability alone.

for setting a great example to all developers. This game has a clean UI, runs fast, and is easy to use; top notch. This Free version doesn't have as many puzzles as the pay for version, but the pay for version has so many puzzles in each level, I will never get bored. For only $2.99 you can't go wrong.
The game sells itself ... and sold me to pay for more. Great job to Mighty Mighty Good Games!

Not played enough to find out the limit on the number of puzzles. If there is only 5 per level, fair enough it is free! If there were 1000's why bother paying for the full version? If love Sudoku an this is perfect, not a single complaint, I mean Sudoku is pretty simple so there's only so much you can do but this does it all. Colour schemes are good and interface works well. Will consider paying for the full version.

This game is really really easy to use and it is gorgeous! I bought the full version and had to check out the free one. You get everything in the free one except not as many games or color themes. Anyway, I didn't get cheated by them giving away something I paid for not too long ago. How nice of the company to give this away so everybody can enjoy Sudoku! If you don't know how to play, now you can learn for free.

A Hanidoku puzzle looks like a honeycomb. It has hexagonal cells. Like in regular Sudoku, there are 9 rows, but there are no columns. Instead, there are lines that run in 60 degree angles from the horizontal rows. The ascending lines are called inclines and the descending lines declines. There are 9 of each type of line.
The lines come in different sizes (5, 6, 7, 8, 9) and run in the 3 directions shown. The biggest line, made up of 9 hexagons accommodates numbers 1-9. The shorter lines must contain consecutive numbers. For example, a line of 8 consists of number 1-8 or 2-9, a line of 5 consists of 1-5, 2-6, 3-7, 4-8, or 5-9.
Each number can can only be used once in a line. However, that same number will be used in 3 lines that each run in different direction.
Optional digits can also be eliminated from a line. On a line of size 5, 6 or 7, you can find optional digits that require another optional digit to be present. For example, digit 9 requires digit 8 to be available, otherwise it cannot be used in a series. When digit 8 has no candidates left in a line, digit 9 can also be eliminated from the entire line

cause i don't like to pay for apps, it's not my thing when i could buy a great song for probably cheaper [with the prices of some of the games out there]
Anyway i hate to love sudoku
This one is my favorite though
I can do even good on expert!
because it tells me automatically when one of the numbers i put was wrong
and that's just amazing
especially when i've played sudoku on paper, i die whenever i think i'm doing good and then i noticed just one number was wrong and i ruined the entire sudoku puzzle that i wasted my time on
Definitely get this app!

This is an awsome game. Good colour layout (some games dont have AT ALL D:). Usefull options which can help or chalage you in the game (the show incorrect feature) and the timer is usefull to know how much you improve on a certain level. There are 4 modes: easy, medium, hard and expert and 5 different sudokus for each. Also, for beginers there is a hint feature (in game) which gives you 1 correct number.
I would highly reccomend getting this game for any ipod users and it is definetely the best free sudoku game available for ipod now.

If I were to have designed a Sudoku Apps, this would be it. It uses the same method I use in the books by placing notes in the individual squares as you go about the logic. You can turn on or off the 'incorrect' help feature (great for beginners) and it will also give you 'hints' if needed. It is easy to replace your notes with the correct number and add additional notes. It gives you 4 color options - I like things to look simple and clean, so I have no problem with the graphics. For a free Game App, you can't go wrong! Get it!

Awesome game!!!! It's free and it's not much different from the other Sudoku...I personally think it's an amazing game and toh-tally worth the download. I reaally love this...it is absolutely perfect for me and so far there are no problems. If there was one thing... I sorta dislike the 'highlight wrong answers immediately' part because it makes it too easy, but that's all.,..thank you for making this game free! :) :) P.S. Never mind about the too easy part... I found how to fix it. Just go to options and reset 'show incorrect' Hope this helped!

"Sudoku Free" is just another Sudoku Game in the app store. It doesn't offer special features that are in other sudoku games. It's just a simple interface focused solely on the puzzles. I conclude that this is a basic but great application for people who enjoy staring at a screen trying to fill in boxes with numbers. What's even better is that it's free! Good quality for the price. (I dislike the word "Free" on it's home-screen icon though... It makes me look cheap.)

This is is very complete demo (see free) version of a Sudoku application in the app store. This version doesnt have as many puzzles or as much customization as the pay for version but it is still extremely feature rich and complete. I checked out the full version and its only $2.99! so even that is a steal.
This game is very simple, runs fast, has plenty of options, does stat tracking and everything. I highly recommend you try this since its free after all. I bought the full version. I hope more developers release apps in this fashion so we can get a good feel for them before we buy them. Props to Mighty Mighty Good Games for setting a great example for quality apps and for being great salesmen.
This app sells itself for any sudoku fan (meaning the free version entices you to buy the pay version). It was a no brainer at 2.99

Wow, the first FREE Sudoku app for the iPhone. I've looked into all the Sudoku games here (10 or so of them) and NONE of them are free. Really? Can't we just have a free one like the newspapers give us daily? Well finally, here is a free Sudoku game. There are 4 difficulty levels here. Thee options are simple, but its Sudoku, it's not like you need to calibrate the accelerometer here. There's a timer, and records and that's about all I need. I can't see why other $10 or $3 or even $0.99 games are worth it now that a free Sudoku game is out.

Okay, so this is an amazing sudoku app: fun, challenging, smooth. I'd only played 2 games and almost immediately wanted to buy the full version. And then I saw the reviews for it. Listen to your customers, app developers! I am perfectly willing to spend my money on a great app that I can enjoy again and again, but I refuse to pay good money for something that will crash constantly. So I will content myself with this version until the 3.0 version is corrected.

I was going through a HUGE Sudoku phase not too long ago, and after I stopped getting the newspaper, this app kept my obsession at a managable level. My main problem with computer versions is they tell you the moment you mess up, and with this app you have the option of turning that function on or off. I like being surprised at the end! Beautiful colors and a score board just add more joy to this lovely puzzle game!

I will purchase this game if two more features are implemented: 1) Please create an option to hide or disable the hint button. I find my fingers wandering sometimes and nothing's worse than accidentially revealing a square. 2) There needs to be a mechanism to clear all notes at once. Sometimes you just have to start fresh :) If those two issues are addressed, this would be a five star application, hands-down.
