Reviews:
My Favorite Game. So Far By: whydouwannaknow - Jul 16, 2008 Version: 1.0 I love this game!!! If their was an option to calibrate the accelerometer to be less sensitive, it would be a lot better. The game is hard, but if it was easy you could blast through it. I like games to last and have replay value. This has both. I haven't try any other paid games, so I can't compare it. I was hesitant about spending $9.99, but it was worth it. I got to the 2nd word in a few hours!
Don't listen to reviews about bad controls By: scurry44 - Dec 28, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 Lots of reviews seem to criticize the controls and gameplay of this superb app, but don't listen to them. The controls are extremely sensitive and the learning curve for SMB is steep, BUT that is the beauty of the game and has been in all of the SMB games. I wouldn't want to waste my time with an app that provided no kind of challenge at all. SMB does this with fantastic graphics and utilizes the tilt sensitivity of the iPhone/iTouch beautifully. If you're looking for an easy game to dink around with don't waste your cash on this one. If you want an app that will challenge you for days and has a remarkable amount of complexity you might want to consider dropping the dime for this one.
BEST GAME IN MY CAREER LIFE!!! By: Salamander_reroll - 22-Mar-2009 Version: 1.01 I love this game so much that I beat two worlds and I'm working on level 59.I'm lucky you have this on Ipod. My friend has super monkey ball for gamecube/gameboy and it broke. To prove it is the best game some amazing levels are included and I like the scenes in different worlds (+ music). Those people who write bad reviews, ignore all of them. Nothing bad everything good. There's more. This game had more levels than I expected and they are hard and easy. I like hard and easy games. So it's a perfect game!
Awesome! By: davideff - Sep 18, 2008 Version: 1.0 Period. The graphics are beautiful, and game play is fluid. There is no reason people shouldn't consider this app. it's a fun one to show off to the friends or family, or just to play when your waiting in a long line. This game has many levels, challenging as well. It's not too easy, frustrating at times, which is good. It's one of those games you can't beat in three days, so it doesn't feel like a waste of money. I have never had a single crash, even with the 2.0 firmware. I never even had issues with my phone getting too hot while game play. great game, and great iphone app example.
Please read this By: Qwertyuioplkgfvgbivu - Aug 5, 2008 Version: 1.0 Personally, I love this game. It has great graphics and I do admit that the controls are hard at FIRST, but... Like everything, it just takes time. By the 6 level I was a pro so don't give up on it. One suggestion I do have though is that it has a save button so you could turn it off and save it although it is fine with out it. There are people complaining about how horrible the controls and the graphics are but think about people in Africa who have some sticks and dirt to play with.
Awesome!! By: who the heck cares - May 3, 2009 Version: 1.0.2 Super Monkey Ball is one of the greatest things to ever hit the iphone or ipod touch! You may think it's pricey, but was totally worth it. It may also be hard at first but it just takes practice. Graphics are awesome! There's like 100 levels of awesome! Get it! If the dude who made this is reading,PLEASE make a second version. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!! I already beat it in three days because I was so addicted!!!!!
Hours of fun for all By: Holy Ketcup - 23-Feb-2009 Version: 1.0.2 Super monkey ball Is an example of a 'sensitive' game. By this I mean that the controls are delicate and one small mistake ruins everything, which anoys some but can excite others.I love the idea of this game and every time you play you want to complete that bunch of levels (1-10) (11-20) etc. There is a fun choice of characters and there is nothing particularly wrong with any of the levels, grafics or gameplay. It is definatly worth the money!
Super monkey ball By: Shaf-lfc - 13-Apr-2009 Version: 1.0.2 I saw the complaints about the sensitivity problem but yet still downloaded it, on the whole its a great game and fun to play, the graphics are excellent, although id like to see the monkey look a little more realistic. I began to play the game and was whizzing past stages and i began to realise senitivity wasnt as big a issue, rather the people that were complaining were not using the right technique. Its a fab game, a must buy. £3.49 well spent, thats what i thinl anyway
Awesome game. By: chris__ - Jul 18, 2008 Version: 1.0 This is a great game if you give it a chance. It seems like most of the people who have reviewed this have problems with the controls. Well, I've beaten ninety-one of the levels so far so I've been playing a lot and I can say that the controls are absolutely no problem once you get used to them. This game will keep you busy for hours and has great replay value. Even after you beat all the basic levels, you have to go back and get all the bananas in each level to unlock the special levels. Some of them . . . I don't know how I'm gonna do it. I imagine that'll keep me challenged for a long time. Now I do wish there was a way to save so that when you're half way through one of the level sets and you need to do something else you don't have to start over. Also, this game has crashed maybe about four times since I got it about a week ago. No big deal. But it was annoying one time after I beat a pretty tough level and had to do it over . . . Anyways, five stars. Get this game and take the time to get used to the camera.
Great Game By: freeappsrockmysocks13 - Dec 31, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 I have over 30 apps on my itouch and this game is the best. The graphics are great the levels are fun and exciting, and the controls are fine (granted you need a little practice. A lot of people complain about the controls and give this game 1 star, but that's only because they're no good. As for saving you have to beat levels in sets of ten for the game to save and if you quit in the middle of those levels you can still start were you were when you come back to the game. There, I think I tackeled some of the big complaints. Reasons to buy: fun, addicting, over 100 levels, great graphics...it's just plain awsome. Buy it, best game on iTunes!

Awsome game, but needs an update By: FDF Games.com - 22-Jul-2008 Version: 1.0 I LOVE THIS GAME, but it needs an update. For example, in the options menu there should be a sensitivity control, the game always crashes, more levels would be great, you should be able to save by touching a save button from the pause menu And the last thing is that there should be a volume control in the pause menu for iPod touch users! Thanks, hope you can include these things in your next update!!!!!!!
Over All A Very Good Game By: The Chosen Critic - May 6, 2009 Version: 1.0 The game is a perfect game to kill time or play on a rainy day. The game has fantastic graphics, excellent sound, it is very entertaining, and can become rather addicting. Although some other reviewers are complaining that the game is near impossible to control, it is not the game, but the player. Some great tips on controlling the game are not to play on a bumpy ride, but in a chair. Use you wrists rather than your arms, and keep it slow. For a one minute clock is plenty of time! This game is totally worth the $5.99. Get it, and enjoy it! Overall rating: Graphics-100% Sound-90% Controls-80% Playability- 95% Overall Rating-92%--Superb--((A))--*****
LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!!!! By: bobbybear97 - Aug 26, 2009 Version: 1.0.3 Some people say it's too hard, but it takes just a little practice. Answering the question with lvl 5, well, depends on world. If you mean the Island world, then you mean a bonus lvl. If you r aiming to get all the bananas, then I just get the ones that ARE NOT NEXT TO THE EDGE, then after that, go up to the edge, and tilt forward, you should spin all around the edge, getting all the bananas. The ones in the middle, I can't help you with. You'll have to figure that out. Hope this helped.Anyway, to the noobs that said this was hard, try playing on Instant Play. It gets easier past lvl 7, on the Island world. I find that playing on Instant helps with practice. Of course, you could just practice the lvl a million times on Practice mode, but I think that's a bit boring. If you need help with lvl 7, go straight forward, then, at the last second, tilt backward, then back to the position where the monkey is not moving. Then, slowly turn, and repeat the process. You just need a steady hand. The game will improve your hand eye coordination,(by AT LEAST LITTLE BIT!) which is also a bonus. But If you just quit at lvl 7 because you didn't get it on your first try, you have to PRACTICE!ILUVTHISGAME, and I highly reccomend it. If you need help, I'll answer any questions. If I sound either like a teacher or a know it all, I'm sorry. Great time passer, I play it all the time during my sister's Suzuki lessons. I finished the whole game,(got it when it first came out, Played it on my dad's) so now, even when I finished it, I still replay. If I sound like an essay or a storybook, sorry. :(
Woohoo!! By: DoddieBear - Jul 13, 2008 Version: 1.0 The graphics are amazing and it's totally everything i thought it would be. I was very iffy on whether on buying the application because some people wrote negative reviews on how hard the game was. It's definitely not and those people are of the following: 1. Too impatient 2. Have bad hand eye coordination 3. Are gaming dorks who expect themselves to be perfect at every game because that's how they spend their lives. I highly suggest that anyone with an iPhone or iTouch buys this application!
Give it a Chance!! By: emanaydin - Jul 18, 2008 Version: 1.0 Don't listen to the people complaining about the controls, the first time i started playing i was horrendous!! But you really got to give it a chance.. be patient and sooner or later you'll realize you're playing the game like a champ and anxious to unlock the next levels! First few days i was disappointed about the purchase, but a friend told me to really give it a chance so I did and now i'm playing it every night, definitely a great buy!
So much like the Game Cube version By: amasri - Aug 12, 2008 Version: 1.0 The graphics are fantastic; most people who see this game on my phone can't believe it. They usually start cracking up when they first try controlling the monkey: monkeys are good, balls are good, monkeys in balls are good. Once they figure out how to control Aiai or his cohorts, they get very into this game. The controls are challenging, just exactly how Super Monkey Ball is on Nintendo GameCube. If you over correct, you Fall Out. Once you learn that the key to controlling this game is slow & deliberate moves, not fast & overcompensating moves, you realize how fantastic this game is. The game interface is difficult to master on Nintendo, and it is here too, but the tilt interface seems a natural extension. Many people complain that this game doesn't keep track of your score. Like the platform versions of Super Monkey Ball, reaching certain levels unlocks new levels in the game. This way, a friend can come over to your iPhone, play the game, and not mess up what level you were on. Yet, if your friend can pass a level you can't, and unlock new levels of the game, you can start at those higher levels -- this is the Nintendo way, where friends can help you do something you can't do to beat the game. You can start playing at any level you've previously unlocked, so you can go back to the beginning if you want, or start at a more advanced level. I don't know if the people complaining haven't actually bought the game, or didn't play it long enough to get it, or have never seen it on other platforms, or are haters or competing developers who don't want Sega to sell as many copies... But the reality is, this game is so fantastically addicting. Every one of my nieces & nephews love Aiai, Meemee, Baby, & Gongon. Everyone who sees this game is blown away that the graphics can be this good on a phone. This is a showcase game, and is very fun.
Definitely worth the hype. By: Raisaxx - Aug 16, 2008 Version: 1.0 I've beaten the videogame with a friend, and I was so excited for it to be made into an app! Okay graphics, but the whole point is for it to respond to the tilting, so that makes up for it. I agree with most of the other reviews, the controls take a little getting used to, but a good thing to keep as a mental note is that you're tilting the board, not controlling the ball. It's a bit unexpected, the exact angle you have to start out with to keep from going over the edge, but it's very sensitive to the tilts. P.S.: Start playing with it parallel to the ground, as if it were on a table. Playing with your Touch/Phone in an upright position doesn't work so well.
Well worth the price By: dontwakemeup - Jan 1, 2009 Version: 1.0.2 I've had many an hour of fun with this game. The controls take a few minutes to get the hang of, but once you do you'll find yourself breezing through the game and occasionally unlocking bonus levels. Based on other reviews, I'm starting to think that gamers these days just can't handle any sort of challenge, so they blame it on the controls. They certainly worked well for me.The music is good, graphics are impressive for a phone game, and replayability is pretty high. I beat the game months ago and still occasionally play through it.
Addictive gameplay, annoyingly difficult! By: chris_7780 - 13-Jul-2008 Version: 1.0 Take one money and place inside a ball. Place inside iPod Touch/iPhone and let him run wild! Great game. Wasn't sure i'd enjoy paying for an app but I take it back, this game shows off the technology of my iPod as well as (maybe better than, sorry Apple!) the standard features it comes with. Sooo difficult (a good thing!) and seeing the words 'Fall Out' as my monkey tumbles over the edge is becoming a common sight but I will complete this game, I have to!
