I haven't actually had time to prepare any of the dishes yet, just got it yesterday, but it really has me thinking. I will be able to find something while at the store and buy accordingly. That is great. So many of the dishes I've read sound great. I can't wait to get a night to try something new. I will have to write another review in a few months and let people know what is great and what's needing to be tried.

Great App, but adjustments would be helpful...

Love the novelty of being able to shake for a random recipe (gets the creative juices flowing), but would suggest some of the website features, especially a recipe box (my iphone goes into the kitchen as much as I do) and a shopping list (much easier than emailing myself the recipe and going home to print, wasting paper...). It would be especially nice to save a recipe with a notes option to incorporate recipe changes from reviews. As is, though, a great app that does what it says it will quite well.

I have the Ipod touch so I can't really use it in the market, but before I leave my house to go grocery shopping I give it a spin and it gives me so many great options to make for dinner. I can check what I already have on hand and pick up the stuff I need to complete the recipe. Now if you spin it and you don't want what comes up you can always make your own matches, which is what I do all the time. I love this app. Before, I was always wondering what to make next and I was running out of ideas. This comes in very handy.

Just when I was thinking I'd never find a decent recipe app, I stumble across the Allrecipes.com Dinner Spinner, with everything I wanted in a package that doesn't take itself too seriously, yet still has a very robust recipe site powering it.
Not good for: People who want to narrow down an exact tofu recipe from a list of hundreds.
Very good for: People who think "hmm I fancy a main meal that's quick and cheesy" - line up the type/ingredient/time combination and see what it finds.

Works great. Extra functions would be nice

It does exactly what it says it does. I like the spinner function, because I can browse through food that has the criteria I want. While I haven't made any of the recipes yet, they look really good and the instructions are well written. On the negative side, it could use some extra features. Like what the other reviews say it would be nice to search for a recipe if we know the name. It would also be nice if the buttons dissappear if a certain combo doesn't exist. The program itself works great and does what it says which is why I give it five stars. The extra things I mentioned would make it even better.

All the whiners drop the average with their single stars. This doesn't replace a world Of recipe books, or is it the end-all be-All greatest App of all recipe apps. Itsnjist a decent, helpful 'spinner' to give simple adaptable recipe ideas when we can't think of something to cook. If you want to change the recipe, then do it. And we can't expect the makers of this app to do everything FOR you. Record it for posterity for yourself. Most of the recipes can and are adjustable to taste and there are suggestions within the recipe's reviewers that give many Good suggestions. I will continue to Use this and may buy a paid version if offerred.

I love Allrecipes.com! When I bought the IPhone and found this app I was excited! It is alot of fun playing with the spinner and seeing what new recipes I can find and try. One suggestion I would like to make is a search feature beyond the spinner. I downloaded the Betty Crocker app to be able to search more recipes for items I have in my pantry. If Allrecipes.com would do this too, I would get rid of the Betty Crocker app. Thanks for this fun way to find new recipes!

I am so glad that finally, there is a great recipe application. The best thing about this application is the variety of ratings per recipe that gives you a choice if you prefer a 5 star or 3 star dish. I honestly feel that anyone that cooks should add this to their iphone. This app is free but is what selling. I have seen some worthless apps for 2.99 yet this app is the dynamite of recipes but free to all. Thanks a lot for giving me the recipe to entertain my family, friends and guests. Emril here I come....... just kidding. but on a serious note, I can cook just like any high profile chef with this application.

LOVE IT!! Think this will help me get better about cooking and the nutritional information is an added bonus expecially if you are dealing with diabetes or other deseases afftected by diet. So fun to spin and yet can lock in choices too. Agree with the comments requesting a favorites or recipe box selection. What a great application and the recipes aren't just the "same ole ones". Another suggestion would be recipes for 1 or 2. THANK YOU!!

Great idea, beautiful application. I hope future versions of this application allow me to save and organize my recipes. Being a Weight Watcher member, I'd love to see healthy recipes integrated into the spinner, like "Under 300 calories", or something like that. Great JOB! I want to say that the users of applications on the App Store that hurt an applications overall rating by using a 3 star review because it is missing a certain feature, really need to think about what they are saying. Reviews are the center piece of an applications success. All Recipes has done a great job on a 1.0 release. They didn't try and throw the entire kitchen sink at the application. Don't hurt an applications chances at becoming a success because you want one or two features. Write to All Recipes, tell them what you want! A mediocre review can make or beak a companies future plans for an application. If you like the app, rate it, and ask for other features!

Needs search functionality

I love this little app. It's very fun to use, and great if you have no idea what you want to cook. However, it's not as useful as it could be when I know exactly what I want to cook but do not have a recipe on hand. I really, really wish that allrecipes would include a "search" button, so that users could search the allrecipes database for either the name of a recipe they want to try, or by ingredients that they want to use (as is already possible on their website). This would make it a five-star app, in my book.

I love this app! It has a lot of what I'm looking for, but then it doesn't. Not all the recipes are on here. For instance, only two recipes pop up for tomato soup and neither of them is the one I'm looking for, but the one I love is on their website. I've run into a few more instances where the app doesn't have a single recipe I'm looking for, but their site does. Maybe a nice feature would be able to go online and download your favorite recipes from the site? A meal planner would be cool too. Since many of these recipes already have the nutritional information, it would be neat to have the meal planner add up the entire days/week/month worth of nutritional information.

Love the way it works. What I find that though some combinations sound weird, it's based on what ingredients are included, not necessarily what the whole recipe is about. So folks looking for a vegetarian meal may find meat included because fruit/veggies are part of that recipe. So I take one star off for not being able to narrow search to more specific diets and not being able to save favorite recipes.

I love this app. It is easy to use, I find it to be VERY user friendly. I'd give it a perfect score except for the few things that I think should be added for ease of use:
1. Add a recipe box feature for account holders;
2. Add a shopping list clickable link, or, in the alternative, make it compatible with a shopping program like Grocery IQ so the whole recipe shopping list could be added by clicking one link.
Other than these minor things, this application is pretty nifty. I've already used several recipes from it and I really like being able to access the directions right there, as well as tips from other people by reading the reviews of the recipes.
Please All Recipes, add the recipe box save feature!!!!

Although there are some improvements that could be made with this app, I think really it must be remembered that this is free. Yes, it would be very useful if you could look at recipes without being connected to the internet, but really, given that it has now been improved with the ability to search for specific things (and not just use the cool, but admittedly not massively useful dinner spinner thing), this is well worth downloading. It has good recipes in it, with a wide range, and all contained on one iPod/iPhone...I would definitely get it if you ever have to cook and can't be bothered to trawl through recipe books...

The one thing that I think this app is missing is to be able to access "my recipe box" from my online account. That would be perfect. I went to make something the other day and did a search on my iPod touch (i knew it was in my online recipe box), but I couldn't find the recipe at all. Not sure if there's a different database for iPods/iPhones than online (I'd imagine it's quite large), but it would be great to access "my recipe box" at least.

I love this app! I have been using allrecipes.com for years. The site has tons of great recipes and they all have so many great reviews that you basically know what your getting into before you even begin cooking. So when I saw this app I was pretty thrilled. The one and only disappointment I have is that there is no connection between the app and the actual website. I wish that you could log on and save the recipes into your recipe box.

This collection of recipes is highly professional, coming from a great website I find really helpful. The app itself does suffer from being a tiny bit gimmicky with it's interface: you search for menus by spinning wheels with a number of set keywords covering type of meal, ingredients, and prep time. For instance, main meal, beef, slow cooker. It would greatly benefit from adding a keyword search feature.
