I had low expectations when I first purchased this app. Even though the other reviews were outstanding, I figured if it was only $0.99, it couldn't be that great. Well, I was wrong. In just the first few minutes, I listened to a cop chase of a car jacker, a sherrif reporting in from a crime scene where 2 people were shot in the head, and a rescue going on at a fire scene. Down side, not all areas are listed, but there are some great action areas for the Cops junkies!

I work EMS in orange county,CA and I think it's hilarious I can hear myself and coworkers on my iPhone via the orange county fire channel. Very well worth the buck. To the few that have complained... Come on, even if for some reason you really don't like it, why waste time complaining about a dollar? That hilarious. You pay at least 100 a month for the phone, what's a dollar?! Haha nice work. The app is rad.

I have friends who have paid hundreds of dollars for police scanning equipement, and even though there is a slight 30 second or so delay here I blew my buddies away when I told them what I paid for this thing on the iPhone. The live streaming is clear enough and loud enough. The list of codes is helpful enough to get a grip on the riff- raff tweak'n around at night. San Diego has got enough action to listen to, In fact the night I downloaded I listened to a 211(armed robbery) and a 415( fight in progress) and even a couple dumb teenagers smoking pot downtown pacing back and forth in front of a popular hotel along the bay. The cool thing was that no matter what happened the SDPD was able to code 4 in no time. Just listening to these guys doing there thing out there gives you real peace of mind, and also gives you a feeling that you're part of the action too. Many thanks to the developer for this app. It is truly a steal at .99!

if u can't get this to work u ether live in the boonies where there aren't alot of cops and crimes, or ur just retarded. which both are true cuz ur mom is ur sister. but, maybe u don't kno what COUNTY u live in? I live in a CITY in south east mi, it pulls up oakland COUNTY sheriff, and oakland COUNTY police and fire which is the majority of DETROIT and outer CITIES!. it has macomb COUNTY police (where kid rock made his start(giving props where props are due)) which is where I live(that's my COUNTY!). and about 15-20 other COUNTYS from northern mi to Ohio. they always work!! it of says it's offline I exit out of that channel and it let's me right back online. this goes by COUNTY not CITY!!!! unless u live right in ny or la which is obvious!!! some police departments do not fully broadcast there radios!! they do not have to!!! police scanners are actualy illegal in some areas, driving with one is def illegal! you ppl r so stupid I get a kick out of every app I read reviews for. I am almost desgusted with the lack of smarts iPhone/iPod users have. and u wonder why America is in bad shape... so go ahead and waste ur money on stupid apps, not good apps. this is a good app. buy it or don't! but it works, does what it says, and is a million times better than ibeer, those stupid mob games, mood pad, gay loser mist!!(let's look at pictures!!! not a game!! yea!! that's fun!! puzzles!! I'm 6 or 84 years old!!! yay!!!) or a 100 dollar scanner or anything else u waste ur time and money on.. I freaking love this app. Buy it. It has soo many places. I was shocked that It had my town. I live in illinois. Not a really big town. But it had us. Couldn't believe it. I like listening to places where family lives like Tucson. Great app. Runs slow sometimes. But hey it's getting the radio. Now they need to make one for airports. Have different airports available. There you go guys. Make that app!

Great app for only 99 cents! I've been wanting a police/fire scanner since I was a kid. I live in CA but got this app while in Chicago. Sitting outside for lunch on the river I heard police and fire cars/trucks go by with sirens blasting. I turned on the app and heard about the call they were responding to. Love the codes screen. This app rocks!Request: have an text entry box for quicker code entry. They fly by pretty quick on the radio.

Says Phx PD but they r offline as well as 1/4 of maricopa cnty. This use to work great & being a LEO it came in handy off duty hrs but 2days after leaving a great review alot of my areas scanners started dropping. Pls fix. There has to b some kind of dedicated online dispatch/repeater u can dedicate for this app for the cities u have listed as operational. Oh n this whole "temp could be down momentarely" is BS. WTF. update the list man. U basically lost all LEOs/FFs cuz ill b tellin em to pass n get a different app. Others have phx pd 24/7 so pls fix all this or explain a reason(s) u cant. Thx.

What a freakin' great app! I love listening in on my old home town in Montana... It's something random when you want to listen to something different. I'm not crazy on the visual aspects, but that's just personal opinion. It'd it be cool if you could tap a button and enter a description when something big is going down, and have it update a server so users could 'check' the server list and tune into the action... Also adding amber alerts would be nice.

A great app !!! Unfortunatley a dying hobbie I'm a FCC licensed amatuer radio operator. Many of the EFQs have gone digital and theses scanners are expensive !!! Having this app for 99. is amazing. Also neat to hear other cities and states. I'm not so much a sandbagger on the police freq. But love ATC and just listening to other Hams. Any chance of adding these stations :-) Thanks so much for adding Kennedy -Yay !!!! The reception and sound quality is loud and clear with code print out for each - sweet !!!! An incredible app for the price !!! Remember if you don't hear anything try another of the 899 stations :-) This is KG6PZG signing clear , 73/33 and 88 to the OM,s out there !!!

I bought this the second I saw what it did. Didn't even need to think twice.
The best part, the county I live in is on this! Not a lot of action (But that's because I live in Vermont.) This is the App of the year for sure!!!!!
EDIT: For everyone saying it is junk because you don't ever hear anything, it’s not the apps fault, but it’s that the station you chose isn't broadcasting anything.
Try Cooks County in Chicago, very active station.
Well worth it and is for sure real. I was listening to my local county and heard the fire trucks being sent out. I went outside and what do you know. There go the fire trucks.
This app is NOT fake, and works very well.
One thing I do think could be improved is that there needs to be more codes. I hear lots of codes in the 20's Like 20-13, and 20-15. Fire and EMS must use a different set of codes, and they are not included in this app.
10/10 StarsFor all of you complaining because of the sound quality, these are police scanners, they are not crystal clear devices. In no way are the "muffled sounds", and "static", and dead airtime a proble with the app itself. Remember, you are not going to be constantly hearing something on all stations. If there are no problems in the area you picked, there will be no broadcasting, this there will be dead airtime.-----------------------One feature that would be nice is an alert function. If you are listing to one station and another of to favorites has "action" then there would be a popup telling you so you could switch over. That feature would make this already 10/10 app even better.

This app is one of my favorite apps but there is only one thing that freaked me out...When I was listening to the NYPD there was a missing 6 year old so I thaught I'll listen to see if they find him/her and then one of the people on the radio said "there is an open line please close it!" and kept saying that and I knew it was me. I didn't know they know you are listening. Overall a great app!!!

OMG, I remember buying my first scanner way back in the 80's and having to save up for each additional crystal -- this app is simply FUN! I tried out the LITE version first, which any good app would allow one to do (if it's good) -- and I cannot put it down! So, I just purchased the .99 pennies one and again, STILL can't put it down. I wonder why listening to the "world around you" is so FUN? You'll have to check it out for yourself to understand.

Worth every penny!

I was very pleased to come across this app. I work overnights and have a lot of downtime. This keeps me very entertained. Well worth the $.99 price. Great selection of feeds. I suggest listening to either the fire/ems or police/sheriff feeds seperately. When you listen to a feed with all combined you get a lot of stepped on transmissions. No fault of anyones, just gets hard to keep the transmissions straight.One of my top 5 apps. A great buy!

This is a great app that I and my collegues at work find helpful. I am a Firefighter/Paramedic and we have iPhone for the rigs. It is nice to be able to quickly listen to PD while they are staging us away from a scene prior to entry. It gives us helpful info that otherwise our dispatch will not relay to our crews. Very Cool! Hopefully, edgerift will seperate out the PD and Fire channels to listen to individually in the future so that you would have the ability to listen to only the tactical channels you are interested in and not all the county traffic on one channel!

Not only does it pick up my local traffic here in Iowa, but i can also get streams from my hometown in Illinois 125 miles away. Ha! I just heard an ISPERN broadcast from illinois state police. Reminds me of when i was on the job years ago. Good app. A must for police, security, or anyone who loves sifting thru the chatter. Don't know how they do it, cause my bearcat wont pick up locals since CRPD went digital, but it does. 5 stars.

I live in new Hanover county nc, and I'm also a firefighter there, although it doesn't have the fire dispatch on there (hint hint update) they do have the sheriffs department, to who ever says it doesn't work is lying, it's dead on the money with there actual radio channel. Some channels give you an error message which I'm sure could be fixed in an update. Over all this is a really awesome app and you can't beat the price either. If your ever curious what happens when your at work or sleeping I recomend it to all!!!!!!

I love this APP. Dang I knew cops were busy, but never knew they were that busy LOL. It would be nice, if in future updates, you made it possible for us to be able to switch channels to get all of the juicy info, when the cops change their channels. Plenty of times i heard them tell each other to switch to a different channel, just wish i coud also switch to listen to what they are saying. Keep up the GREAT work

This app is truly amazing! It delivers just as it promises and gives you the same functionality as a scanner costing hundreds of dollars. It's really cool to listen in and hear what is going on, especially if you live in the LA area. This is the kind of app that really makes people shake their head and say, "The iPhone can do that?!?!". Great work and a steal and a half for only 0.99! Just don't call it in!!!!

This is fantastic! What about ALBUQUERQUE (154.8150)? We are the largest city in the whole state of New Mexico and if it was good enough for Bugs Bunny it is good enough for this app. To answer some of the questios I have seen below: No this is not illegal, cops have specail TAC channels for the confidential stuff and the public can't access those. Most all 10 codes are used nationally because of government regulations.Thanks again!!!!
