Tasty Rock Drums, tons of fun and FREE!!! (v1.1)  rating of FreeDrumPad
By: Alonzomachine - Nov 24, 2008
Version: 1.1
(v1.1) I'm a musician, and realistically not expecting a "drummer's experience", but I have to say this is a great app. It's great for illustrating drum parts to other musicians, or just banging around on the pads.
The drums sounds are quite nice, especially in headphones. The sound is definitely better for rock, having a deep tone with medium reverb.
Pads trigger the following (sideways left to right):
top row is ride cymbal, closed hi-hat, slightly open hi-hat, crash cymbal.
bottom row is bass drum, snare, floor tom, medium tom.
Developer suggestions: the new larger pads are great! Thanks! Labels on the pads would be nice. There's a bit of latency when using headphones, but for free, this app is great. The two tom sounds should be reversed; better if the snare leads into the medium-tom before the floor tom.

This Company is Genious!  rating of FreeDrumPad

Well, of course it looks like the Digidrummer. But it's so much better! As soon as I opened this free app that I was sure would be quickly deleted, something magical happened. I was able to get my groove on. So I went over to my Digidrummer and tried the same beat. It couldn't happen. The pads are too small and "the least latency possible" seemed twice as slow as this free program from this great company that makes good free stuff. And btw the drum sounds are good, too. The closed hihat doesn't cancel the open one, but the bleed over of the sounds doesn't sound crappy like in other programs.

Too many people complaining about their faults.  rating of FreeDrumPad

This app is amazing. I absolutely love it and in time I have a good ability on this and it is actually quite impressive once you get the hang. Its just THE perfect drum app.
People complaining of no sound, why rate it 1 star when its YOUR problem, it is putting down a good app which should deserve all the rep it can get. I find it quite selfish and unthoughtful when people post ratings when it obviously is designed to work and does work.

Good Teaser  rating of FreeDrumPad
By: Jamie 83 - 02-Jan-2009

This is a good way to tease you into parting with your money for the full app. As previously commented there is zero latency (this means there is no delay from the moment you hit the pad to the moment you hear the sound) this could be a good for people who want a basic introduction into drum programming but don't have the money to buy an expensive drum module/midi controller, I'm not going to make this out to be anything more than it is, the free version has 2 x 8 pads so 16 different samples but get yourself a phono to 3.5 jack cable, plug your iPhone into your computer and push it to the limits!

One word: excellent.  rating of FreeDrumPad

Almost passed this by due to the other users comments, but am very glad I didn't. Firstly I should say that I am using it on an iPhone (G3 version) and had no problems with either sound, installation or use. Using the build in iPhone speaker it works fine, but sounds like, well an iPhone, BUT if you have access to a better speaker system, hifi or simply headphones it takes a quantum leap in sound quality. Someone took a lot of trouble sampling the two kits, and the quality is as good if not better than many electronic kits I have heard either live or on CD. I would add that as an ex-Bass guitarist who likes music his vibes DEEP, I could not resist plugging the phone into my Ampeg bass amp..........ouch.
