Use the power of the iPhone's GPS to measure distances between locations or along a path traveled. Distance can also export the data it collects to create maps for Google Earth, Google Maps or any application that supports the KML format. Measure distances in feet, yards, miles, meters or kilometers. With Distance you can either manually set points and measure the total distance point to point to point, or you can let Distance automatically plot your points for you as you travel.
With Distance you can save all of your measurements and view them at any time. You can export your measurements and save them in CSV and KML formats on your PC or Mac. With the KML file you can view your map in Google Earth or Google Maps!
Distance comes with an accuracy meter, allowing you to add points when the accuracy and GPS signal are the strongest. The accuracy meter helps you get the best results for your measurements and mapping.
Distance works best with the iPhone 3G, however it can work with the first generation iPhone as well. Please note that the accuracy of the first generation iPhone is limited and should only be used for large distances.

Excellent application; does exactly what it says and very well. Near essential.
One potential update you might like to consider is:
An "As the crow flies" option, so you find the shortest distance between two points, which would be useful in measuring large straight areas more accurately.

Great app! I tried this in Hyde Park in London and it EXACTLY mapped my running route. I then saved and exported data and it gave me the data in CSV format. And the icing on the cake was the option to see my route on Google Maps! Brilliant app guys. It's way better than many apps I've paid for and does exactly what simple people like me require. Thanks.
Nothing remarkable or horrible

The application seems fine but it's totally not what I'm looking for. I just wanted something that would calculate the distance between two points that I entered manually; I got the impression from the description that this app would do that but it doesn't. It seems you have to be at each location before you can save them and then calculate the distance between.
boring and time wasting.

there I was outside as I was instructed. I was asked to use my current location as a starting point. OK button did i press, then 25 minutes later the application is STILL attempting to provide me with an acceptable accuracy. It continues to meander between two distinctions, and it cannot decide which one. 47.43m and 17.07m. I tried walking nothing changed. Worthless and useless.

This application does not work as advertised, not even close. Distance measured is useless to me
Manual mode deceiving

I bought this to map the distance of my runs after I have run them. The only way you can input points manually is by putting in the coordinates, not selecting on a map. Lame!
