Is there a fix for the crashes when using the "Saved Items" feature???  rating of Geocaching
By: GizFinder - Jul 4, 2009
Version: 2.1
Is there a fix for the crashes when using the "Saved Items" feature??? I am not using the app with the iPhone but rather with the iPod Touch. This is a good start for this app and am looking forward for updates. I would have rated it higher but right now I am so frustrated with the crashes that occur while trying to use the "Saved Items" feature. This is one of the most important features if you are using the iPod touch and have to leave a WiFi connection! This needs to be addressed SOON!

Essential purchase for geocachers  rating of Geocaching
By: Iamajmiller - 12-Sep-2009
Version: 2.3
I bought this app this morning after considering it for a while (Quite expensive for an app). Having now bought it and used it today I had to write a review to convince other cachers how good this app really is!! I decided to trial it by ditching my normal routine of writing down all coords in a notebook and then heading out and just going to somewhere and seeing what it gave me. The app knew where I was and gave me all surrounding caches which I duely found! I am glad I brought my Garmin as well though because although the map function is a good indication of where you should be, the compass function isn't all that precise. I would worry if you were in a forest faced with the hint 'Base of Tree'!!! In fact I was in a forest at one point and the iphone's GPS thought I was about 40 miles away!! Therefore what this app offers you is a chance to ditch the notebook and just use your iphone and Garmin to navigate instead. Which is what it's perfect for!
Very happy with this and well worth the money! Get it!

Using with Ipod Touch  rating of Geocaching
By: Leanabean - 06-Sep-2009

Didn't think I could use this app without an Iphone but you can  as long as you don't use as the gps to find the caches basically as Ipod touch doesn't have gps (grrrrrrrrr - not fair Apple). Anyway only improvements needed are to improve help. How do you use the pocket query part , I'm a new premium member and this could be useful to me.Also needs more search options such as post code only search and keyword search as we have with the website. Other than that fab app really useful. Thanks 

Great companion for a day of caching!  rating of Geocaching
By: Arlo Rose - Jun 30, 2009

My friends and I have been using this to access descriptions and logs, and post field notes as we're caching. The only drawback we've had is it kills the battery on the phone because of the GPS use... so instead we still use our GPSr units.
I'm hoping that a future update has compass support for the 3GS. That would be a great addition to an already great app!
Too bad the wireless transfer on the Colorado isn't WiFi based and could be used with this. Would be incredibly cool to send a cache or a found set to it using it wireless transfer feature.

Nicely done  rating of Geocaching

I've enjoyed this app for sometime now and can only think of a few things to better it.
I too would like camera built in where we could upload photos straight to the field notes.
The updates you guys make on this are fantastic. Being able to load my pocket queries made my life much easier on a trip this past weekend where I had no Internet service
To those having trouble with the app not showing your caches as found when you get to the site it's because it logs th as "field notes" accessible from your profile. This way you make quick notes all day and type out your real entry when you get home.
This app has saved me so much time, paper, and energy. Can't get much better than this.
It's perfect. Thanks for a fantastic app

Super easy  rating of Geocaching
By: weevilgenius - Jan 1, 2009
Version: 1.1.1
This app works exactly as advertised. Tightly integrated with geocaching.com with or without an account, it shows cache descriptions, recent log entries, and hints. It can send cache coordinates to the built in Google maps app, and for devices with built in GPS (currently iPhone 3G), it can display a dynamic "compass" with direction and distance to the cache. This means on a budget, you can geocache with only an iPhone. One of the few paid apps I consider worth the price. Update: I too had the crashing problem with a jailbroken iPhone. I uninstalled the app, uninstalled winterboard, reinstalled the app, and no more crashes.

Awsome app!  rating of Geocaching
By: Cacheaddict - Sep 26, 2009

I've been geocaching since last September and just recently got the iPhone and installed this app. Wow!! For the price I am very very happy. I've done 10 caches this week with the iphone and I have not had any troubles with the app or search. Great having the info, maps, terrain, and being able to post a find all together !! Great for those lunchtime hunts. I will still carry the garmin when going farther out so I don't have to rely on cell coverage.

One of my faves!  rating of Geocaching
By: blackberet - Jun 26, 2009

I use this app all the time -- it's what really got me into geocaching several months ago. The new 2.1 version addresses the headache it once was to go back and forth between the app and Google Maps -- and it does so very beautifully. To those having issues with the app crashing when loading up, I was having the same problem so thought I'd pass on how I got passed it: 1. Uninstall the app 2. Restart your phone 3. Install the app (Note: iTunes will always lust the current price for apps you don't have installed. It isn't until after you actually select "Install" that it will remind you that you can redownload the app for free). 4. Restart your phone (DON'T open the app before you restart it!) 5. Think happy thoughts while the phone restarts 6. Launch the app This worked for me, on a 3.0 non-jailbroken 3G iPhone. Thanks again for an elegant, useful app!

This is The BEST application on my iphone, I'm new to geocaching and this has made it unbelievably easy to do!! If you go geocaching this will replace your Garmin!! worth every single penny they charge and then some! Can't say enough good about it!! The iphone 3gs and this app are a marriage made in heaven, between the compass, the internet connection, maps, and the camera it has it all for this really fun sport!!!

Get this App!  rating of Geocaching

This is worth the $10. Those of you who can get it for the holiday pricing, consider yourselves extra blessed! I've thought about geocaching for awhile, but held off because of uncertainty about what gps to get. This App pushed me over the edge and got me into geocaching. Unless I do some ultra-remote caching (with no cell service), my iPhone is all I need for practically unlimited fun. If you don't have a gps, you should definitely get this app. Great job Groundspeak! I look forward to the update!

Great app  rating of Geocaching
By: Chilehead - Jun 20, 2009
Version: 2.1
This is a great application to have loaded if you are a serious geocacher. While I'd rather use my Garmin 60csx for serious geocaching, if I don't have it with me (fat chance normally!), or need a cache description or hint in the field, this is a wonderful thing to have. The GUI is very intuitive and clean. Another one of the geocaching applications I've used lets you get all the data into the phone for offline use, but it's quite painful, and you have to plan ahead. With this it just works as long as you have a connection.
If you know you are going somewhere where your data connection is spotty, then you can save the cache information for offline use. Most areas I cache in normally don't have much of an issue with getting data, so I rarely have to do this.

Nice  rating of Geocaching
By: LastNightsShift - Jun 20, 2009

Paperless caching is finally a reality. Hours of work to plan a hunt is finally over. This APP rocks. I have never been able to geocache so easily. It's quick and easy and works for me everytime. I cannot express how happy I am with this APP. It's a must have. It works everytime. The new updates have exceeded my expectations. I still have my cheap gps handy because the iPhone gps isn't quite as accurate, but that has nothing to do with this program. If you ever pay for an app, this is the one. I've never left a review until now, because nothing has excited me like this one.

Can't say enough about this app.. I am hooked.  rating of Geocaching

This is such a great app. Well worth the $10. I recently got started with geocaching and picked up this app. Its so amazingly well designed and clean. By nicest thing I can say is that I honestly feel like I am cheating using the app! I imagine using a standard GPS device to hunt down caches and I compare that to the experience in this app on the iPhone and I feel like I have an unfair advantage. :)
Great app.. please keep adding cool new features to it. Really a joy to use.

Great app for great fun!  rating of Geocaching
By: MStyles - Sep 23, 2009

Very nice app and update to use 3G S compass was nice. Also nice to be able to post. I do wish, however, that picking/leaving trackable items was integrated into the app better. It would also be helpful to add the ability to post pictures. To make it great, please add in a feature to create a cache entry, including some type of averaging of the GPS coordinates. Finalizing those on the web is ok, but we should at least be able to create a field note to get the location saved.

Had to eliminate and then load new version.  rating of Geocaching
By: Flydad1 - Jun 16, 2009

Great app for on-the-road access to new caches after SMS notification. However, after upgrade to the new version and powering down as directed, the updated geocaching app still would't open, but kept returning to the iPhone app icon screen. It was necessary to completely uninstall the app and resync to completely remove the previous version. I then downloaded the new version by "rebuying" it, for which there was no cost, because I had already purchased it, and then syncing again to load the new version.

Using it with my 3GS and it works great. The digital compass works superb in the app and have never had any problems with it pointing in the wrong direction. The pocket queries work a treat and are a breeze to use. I have played around with the adding of waypoints for the multi caches and seems straight forward to use. Over all I think it’s a great app for geocaching and use it as my main device.

Love it!!  rating of Geocaching

I've been caching for almost a year and I must say this app makes is so much easier. Being able to cache on the fly with no planning is the best part. I'm sure as time goes on and more updates are available this app will get even better. I've been able to find a few larger caches with just the iPhone but it's a little tough, let's face it, it a phone not a dedicated gpsr. Well with the ten buck for that quick grab on the way home from work to relive a little stress.

Excellent by kcviewRock  rating of Geocaching
By: Kcviewrock - 16-Sep-2009
Version: 2.3
I have had this app for about 6 months and would not be without it. The most recent updates were very welcomed so now I can log a find straight onto the website and feed in coords on a multi. My caching has been improved by 100% now I don't have to print off or write down info. Sometimes out in the wild I haven't had a signal but only on a few occasions. My Garmin C60SX and iPhone live and work together in harmony in my caching bag and I wouldn't be without either. One small improvement would be the capability to pick up and drop off GCs and TBs but apart from that you need this app if you go caching. 5 stars without hesitation.

Update to give 5th star  rating of Geocaching
By: CinciRiverRats - Nov 9, 2008

Thanks for providing the update so quickly! Now almost perfect. One more item on my wish list .. The map pinpoints the location of the cache it would be nice if it also pointed out your location too. Also there is no "back" feature to return the user back to the app. You must restart the app. I'm still on the fence with the navigation feature as it seems to be very inaccurate. I can be standing still and it tells me I'm moving at x miles per hour and the arrow jumps all over the place.
