This is my favorite speedometer application, a great-looking and functioning app.
It's great to see that the stitched leather background has been added back to the program; a very nice look.
The double-tap to flip the image to mirrored mode is much better than the previous sliding motion.
Good job, thanks for the updates! (including going to a one-decimal place readout, instead of two).

If you have the iPhone 3G, this works!!!!

I have an old Jag that I restored but the speedometer is shut and it would cost me a minimum of $500 to replace it. I'm using this app for now. It works very well despite the negative posters here! Of course, it will not work with the first version iPhone. I also tested it with my other car and it's only off by about 2-3 mph but once you are cruising at a more consistent speed, it is dead-on.
With this app I don't have to spend the $500+ for a new speedometer for a while. I will just save it for the next generation iPhone!

I drive a '66 Dodge van that's been through two speedometers in the 9 years I've owned it. I saw how well my dad's GPS kept track of speed and thought I should get a GPS just for that feature. I've had my iPhone for less than a week and this app is used more than anything. I can drive through town now without having to worry about going to fast in a 30-mph zone. Super simple. It does have a bit of lag at start up, but once it's going, it's very accurate.

This thing is dead on. I have an off road jeep with 31" tires so my speedometer doesn't represent my actual speed. I tested this first in another car and found it accurate and consistent. I now know that when my guage says 50 I am going 55 an at 57 I am going 65. Great info to have! As soon as the app located me it works almost without delay until I shut it down. It even works down below 5 mph. Other apps like this took some time to report an accurate speed.

The speed on this only has a differents of 1-2km/h to my dads car dashboard!!! That's pretty accurate!!! Hopefully the update would come out soon so the bugs are fixed!! ============================== Update: Now that there is 2.2 firmware the speed is VERY IN INACCURATE! ============================== Update: Back working and working great after the update!!! But... We would love to have a option to change the background! Besides that great app! Keep up the great work!

Awesome app, very simple to use, and accurate! UI could be greatly improved by adding a separate options menu, mainly to replace the fiddly finger swiping (if youre worried about losing the simplicity can't a settings menu be added into the iPhones "Settings" app out of sight?? ) Please consider adding these options: -choice over number of decimal places, having 2dp is ridiculous considering the limited accuracy I the iPhone, it's not THAT accurate... -choice over colour scheme - I really liked the old leather background, rather than the white one, it was less "glary"... Thanks for the great app!

I have given this a number of runs in my car now. I started out not having high expectations of this application but thought that I would give it a go as I had downloaded it six weeks before. I know my car speedometer intimately as I have tested it a number of times - it gives a value 6 kph greater than the real speed.
Allowing for the differential, the 'Speed' application, after taking a few seconds to warm up, gave a result within 1 kph accuracy over a number of speed ranges. It was also very responsive to subtle speed changes.
I also believe that it would be nice to have an addition where the application 'beeps' when a pre-determined speed is achieved.

App works well, is fast to get a GPS signal and seems to be quite accurate. It'd be nice to see faster refreshes and 1MPH rather than 5MPH increments (the large increments could actually be causing the refresh problem). Add some stats like highest speed, longest sustained speed, and co-ordinates / time logging, and this app is worth paying for!
Given it's currently free, it's a great version1.

Works fine for me. No bells and whistles, just does nwhat it says it does. Simple digital display, clear and easy to read while driving. It agrees with the speed displayed by my Tom Tom 720.
A GPS based speedometer is limited by the inherent update speed of the GPS system, so the display to one decimal point is misleading, but the displayed speed is accurate and with my iPhone mounted in the screen gave a good reliable readout on a 65 mile round trip. May be I won't use it every day, but I think the app is staying on my iPhone for now.

I downloaded and been using it for more than a week, it's nice a clean, and work smoothly; User Interface is wonderful; the updates have incorporated some of the users request, so the developer is hearing what we say.
This app could have a lot more of potential application than just showing the speed, the developer should add the following: Speed Record, Average Speed, Distance so far, Distance Record.
It’s a great app so far, so go for it!

Hi, Congratulations on your great programme. I like it a lot. I have a suggestion though. Could you please add in a feature whereby if you get to certain predetermined speeds, the iPhone beeps and vibrates. It would be good to be able to set it up to give a different alert at different speeds. e.g. 1 beep at 60km/hour, 2 beeps @ 80 km/hour and 3 beeps at 100 km/hour etc (or whatever speed the user predefines). I have used this feature in hire cars and miss it in my own. Thanks

It's so accurate. Exactly the same as my cars speedometer. It even does exact speed such as 32.3 instead of just saying 32. Definitly my favorite app

This app is well within 0.5 mph of my Garmin Nüvi, car's speedometer, and my car's enging control unit.Accuracy diminishes at very low speeds but that's not what it's meant for!
