Great. Exactly what I want from my iPhone.
Oh, please add a share button for Twitter, facebook .....
ABC, it would be great to see some abc shows on my iPhone. Steam the comercials or add some ads. Just please keep it free. I think you would grow your aduience, I never set down to watch Shows, but I would like to have them with me. And I won't by your shows on iTunes cause I haven't seen them.
A great news app from one of the networks
By: carterme - Dec 28, 2008
I've been hoping that one of the TV news networks would create an app for the iPhone and this first one from ABC is exactly what I wished for. The story updates happen about once every hour. The links to the ABC news shows (This Week, World News, 20/20, etc.) are very convenient and a lot like subscribing to 5 different podcasts at the same time. The link to the local ABC affiliate is also very convenient to catch up on local news. This is a perfect app for a news junkie who checks their iPhone at least every few hours. I hope that the other major networks or cable news networks also create apps like this one. This first app sets the bar very high!
Great News App

This app is great. I get finally stay up to date with the news. I usually don't watch the news on T.V. but with this app, it is all in the palm of my hand. I find the setup very convenient. I like the videos and pictures but the stories are my favorite. You can pick what type of news you want to read and the app automatically refreshes and gives you the latest stories. I would pay for this app but luckily it is free so what do you have to lose?

You know... I was hoping that news stations (and all stations for that matter) would start releasing their content via App. Store and I think ABC news really did that with this one. I watched 3 stories and theb thought "Wow, on my iPhone, thats really cool!" So I think they did a good job...
Things to fix-
•Larger Coverage Area for Sources
•TV Shows!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Full Length)
I love this app.

This has become one of my most used apps. I use it almost daily. When the plane went down in the Hudson last week, it was great to be able to watch the video so soon after. Also, I don't have much time for TV and I find this app lets me quickly watch ABC news stories from 20/20, Nightline, etc. that I would otherwise not get a chance to see. It is quicker and more efficient than watching it my home digital video recorder. DVR
I live in Westchester, NY so the local news works fine for me, but I do have to say the quality of the local news video is very bad. The quality of the national news is fabulous and exactly what you would expect. Go get this free app today, you won't be disappointed.

I downloaded it about a week or so ago after hearing about it on Channel 7. Today I literally looked at ALL of its features and was very impressed. I'm elated to see "Tech Bytes" as one of the videos that is available for this app as "Tech Bytes" happens to be my favorite segment of the Channel 7 News. Every morning I attempt to see it and there are a few times that I slept through missing the segment. Either I wake up just after it ended or 5 minutes after it ended and it's too late to see it then I have to go to their web site to play the segment, "Tech Bytes." Now I can CLICK on it on my iPhone, which will be much faster than digging it up on the "ABC7.com" site. I also like the entire interface and the string of videos to choose from. If I happen to miss a story or want to review it again, I can open this app and play the selected video -- how nice! ABC News did a good job with this app.
Nice news ap

I like the way ABC puts this information all in one place; top news videos, shows, alerts, and weather. You don't need your own location listed to enjoy this, and you probably won't have it listed yet, considering there are only ten locations available so far. I don't understand people that give a bad rating on a free application because they personally are not represented by name. Seriously, if the application doesn't fit your needs or you don't look at it thoroughly enough to know what you're talking about, don't give a rating at all. This ap is valuable based on the weather radar alone- not to mention it is free! In my initial look at this application I didn't see any obtrusive ads either- maybe they will come later.
Need to be able to link up/post stories/videos to Facebook & Twitter
By: Sunshinestarusa - Nov 24, 2009
I love this App!!! I use it ALL the time to get the current news.:) No one can do it like ABC News!:) I just wish I could link up/post stories & videos in this App to Facebook & Twitter. Often times there are interesting & informative stories that I wish to share w/my friends on Facebook & there is no easy way to do that. Just for Reference, please check out the "AP Mobile" App to get an idea of what I'm talking about. Their App allows you to post/link up a story to your Facebook & Twitter pages. Adding this feature would be good as it is more publicity for ABC News!:) So, please add this feature. Then I will give you 5 stars instead of just 4 stars. Thank you.
Looking Good So Far

Still checking out this app. I only downloaded it tonight but so far it looks promising so I gave it 4 stars. Includes not only headlines, but videos and video clips from ABC information shows like 20/20, Good Morning America and Nightline. It also has the weather and story related pictures. The only thing I couldn't get is local news because it couldn't find a sister station in my area - no biggie really. Most of the affiliated stations are from larger areas. Other than that, it seems to work well
Glad to see ABCNews on the iPhone
By: SpiceRak2 - Dec 30, 2008
A decent news application, especially for fans of ABCNews and related ABC shows. One limitation: Local affiliates are too thin to have included the feature. Only a few major cities are included for manual set up, but this application offers to "use your location" to find the closest local ABC affiliate. It didn't find one for my location. Otherwise, this is a good offering with lots of potential as well. I'm looking forward to future updates.

Do like half the reviews I submit never appear?? Apple needs to work on that. Anyway, I wrote a review last night, it never showed up. Maybe this one will. Basically, I put this app b/c I like a variety of news sources, and abc is alright. This is a clean app, I've had no problems with it so far. I didn't even reboot once, no crashing, it's solid. I really like that they have video news available. There are clips from their news shows such as nightline and 20/20, on top of several more. This takes away from the redundancy of reading all the news. Overall if you like to keep updated and like abc eenthe slightest, get this app. Beat of all, it's free. And truthfully, this is on the level of a paid app. 4 stars because, well, just because. It takes a lot to be a 5 star app IMO, such as really benefitting my needs.
News Junkie Manna. But please get my local Portland, OR affiliate KATU to participate
By: actionjohn - Dec 28, 2008
Thank you ABC News for building this great app for the iPhone. I'm very impressed with the breadth of content, both video and text that is directly available inside the app. To me, this is news junkie manna.
Built into the app is a content connection with the local ABC News affiliate. Unfortunately, I live in the Portland, OR market, and our local affiliate KATU is currently not sharing their stories. I am hoping that as this program rolls out, more stations, beyond the ABC owned and operated affiliates sign up and get on board. I'm rating this 4 stars, but will gladly move it up to 5 as soon as my local station gets with the program.
In the meantime, I can look at the national content plus selected news stories from New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, and Philadelphia. Since Flint, Fresno, Raleigh, and Toledo also sharing their content, I have to believe that other markets are going to be coming soon. It's just so obvious. I hope I'm right.

Being a huge corporate style company behind this, they do not provide an easily accessible feedback link/form.
So here is my feedback. The app crashes whenever there is an alert (open switch to breaking news/alert and crash).
Article and video loading is remarkably more laggy in this release. But 3.0 has been Absolutely horrible in terms of speed, so I can't blame ABC.
add a video playlist feature (swipe to add to playlist) so we can watch all videos in a row. Also allow for landscape usage of the app but also provide a rotation lock for when in bed.
A section where all the videos are loaded in one category would be nice.
Weather needs to have a Celsius option.
And of course it would be nice if the local tab at least covered the major
Cities in the US.
So far, the best

I am about to remove my AP news app. My problem with most news apps is Local News. Everybody, including AP, can feed you AP stories. The probelm is, (if they even give you an option for local news, as most do not), you get news for your state.
This Local tab gives you local ABC news. It gives you local weather. The only reason why I left off the last of 5 possible stars is, I would love a local sports tab to complete the equation.
There are tons of entertainment and sports applications out there, so this is no big deal. What has been absent is a fast way to see what is going on around me, like high speed chases, shooting... What are all those sirens about?
That is what this application gives me that the others seem to overlook, and AP attempts but overshoots.
Great job, ABC.
Nice clean news app

Different tabs are laid out nice and the photos look great on the iPod/iPhone. The weather radar is sweet too for a quick glance on what's going on. Will look forward to updates. UPDATE: Nice to see the video quality has been upped.

Great for daily news updates
By: DesertTalk - Nov 23, 2009
This free app is great for getting daily news updates. I prefer the text stories over the videos since the bandwidth is often limited in many public locations. There is no local affiliate in Phoenix so it is not good for local news. The titles on some of the stories are sometimes misleading. Earlier versions of the app would crash but it seems stable lately. One of the few apps I use daily.

Great for national and local news, but please make an app. specifically for the Good Morning America show. I want access to all of the show's content not just two videos. Check out the app. for the Today Show.
This is a great news application!
By: TechDad - Jan 8, 2009
Don't pay attention to the whiners, this is a very good news application. The video quality is decent, the past ABC news shows are quick and to the point, and the local, top stories are well situated.
And it's free!

Now I can take my favorite news wherever I go!
