I have been looking for a quality news app since September when I got my iPod touch as a way of replacing the traditional (expensive) newspaper at my morning breakfast routine. This is the first free news app I've found that runs smoothly and provides me with ample articles from a variety of sections, not just headlines, weather, and sports. It took me a little while to find all the hidden crannies, but once explored, this app has become my best friend and my sole source of "printed" news. Sorry to the printed newspaper, from which I shall be unsubscribing shortly.

After struggling with slow and buggy nyt app found this far superior. I subscribed to nyt's paid digital content years ago and quit after couple of months when I was told the content I paid for had expired even though I had never read it!! I'd hope the nytimes would spend real money on developers and have the best app. Think again. This flawless app from USA Today proves how the Times can have the best writers but lead them to ruin due to bad leadership.

This is my favorite iPhone news app. It has a simple and attractive interface. It covers most areas one would care about. It even includes some niceties like interactive polls that display national results contrasted alongside your own state and city. This is great for checking daily just to keep up with the major headlines, and that's how I like it. To top things off, it's the perfect price: free. Keep up the excellent work, guys! My device: iPhone 3G S.

This is the best news/information app on here. I tried NY Times app - it's okay, but loads news & photos too slow and hangs up, and the 'new' Yahoo app takes you to Safari to read stories, that annoys me. This app loads news & photos fast, allows you to get local weather, gives sports scores, basically the USA Today newspaper in your pocket. I'm surprised CNN doesn't have an app. This is a great app - I use it daily, thanks!

Super clean interface, designed for the iPhone and it shows. I love that the stories are not too long, unlike some other news apps. I love the other sections besides the news as well such as sports scores, pictures, weather, and of course, the info graphics. I love that you can vote on them and see everyone's results in real time. I know USA Today gets a bad rap, but don't let that stop you from taking a look at this app.

This is the most well-planned, well made app in the entire store. The user interface is smooth and easy, even enjoyable to use! Replaces every news app you have. You can share articles, and even download pictures! No kidding, I was truly stunned by this app in the first minute I used it. I have no recommendations because there is no need of an update on this app, unless you want to work out ALL the bugs. Words cannot express how grateful I am for this app! Finally, the perfect app! Spectacular job! Keep it up! By the way, I would gladly dish out $10 for this app. It's FREE!

This is a really nice and easy to use application that makes my iPhone even more valuable. The layout and navigation features really make it easy and fun to read the news. I can bounce between sections almost instantly which I love. The "Pictures" section is kind of cool too and it even rotates to full screen. (I wish Apple would take note of that with some of the built-in apps, like Email, or even this review app!) The icing on the cake is that it's free, for now! Nice job!

This app gives me just what I was looking for as far as weather goes. It puts all the other weather apps and mobile weather sites to shame. The weather information is clear, concise & super easy to access...national, local & 'favorites'. Great for those who travel or have interests around the US. The news is just like a nice bonus to me - but well done also. This app is basically equivalent to having a 'live' version of USA Today. Summary = Well Done!

Ok, you can stop reading the reviews, and just download this excellent app, already! With so many apps downloaded onto my phone already, I'm a bit jaded to what others see as quality. Well, after five minutes of using this app, it's just plain obvious these guys did it right! This app is not only informative, it is a pleasure to use. All apps should have such a slick and well thought out user interface. Well done!

This plus AP News and you're set for news in the morning. Though this could have more articles like AP News but so far I find it to work very well. Launches and refreshes fast and it has never crashed on me or froze outta nowhere like some apps. I like the look and how everything fits so well on the iPod screen without looking squashed or tiny. Weather is great option. Now i dont need my weather app. And hopefully more categories of news in the future. Great work and I hope they continue to make improvements :)

I have four news apps on mu iPhone.
AP news
NY Times
ABC News
USA Today
USA Today provides you most detailed and up to date news and it also brings some additional features like public poll and sports score.
But I wanna see two more features in future. I should be able to save some stories on my iPhone so that I may it even offline or just wanna save as my collection.
And I would love to see some video clips of events.

Nice layout, easy to ready headlines and previews. Good balance of content & really elegant photo inserts that pop open when tapped. Fun Snapshot feature and full photo browsing content, all which loads in seconds. Only rarely have I seen ads pop up on the bottom of an article and then it quickly disappears. I prefer no ads at all and that is what turned me off from almost every other news app. I'd pay $5 for an ad-free app like this. Free doesn't mean anything when I have to work around obtrusive and obnoxious ads like a particular "street" news app has. USA Today is the best for quick news headlines and lots of other content to read while on the go.

This is one of the best made apps I have experienced. I've seen it compared to Facebook but it is of much higher quality than that app. You would think this app were designed by Apple. Graphically it is just amazing. Easy laid out content. Images fade in and out and are framed. 2 things I would improve; first, when you want to share a link, after it is sent you end up in the email app and you have to close out and go back into this app. Inconvenient when you want to share a lot. Second, it would be nice to be able to share individual pics. As it is if you go to share a pic you like the recipient will actually receive a huge photo album. Overall all I highly recommend this app. The poll section is very cool indeed.

Unlike the major competing apps, you can open it and start reading right away. It doesn't slow down or freeze up while it downloads updates, even over Edge. This app is better/easier than traditional newspaper, other news apps aren't when weighed as whole.It seems that everything is only a touch away, it is well designed and user friendly. This is my go-to news and weather app. Excelent!This is the only news app that I would fell comfortable paying for the content (I think that is where it will go with iPhone OS 3).

Of all the 'newspaper' apps, this is the best...beats the NY Times App by far. Easy to use, good looking, and customizable. I use this app daily and love it. Each section is colored just like the real paper...which may seem like a minor point, but it adds to the athetics of the application. Each article looks "right" with the right amount of margins, spacing and text size...very easy to read. Pictures appear as a popup and fade away nicely. You can even email, or my favorite...Twitter...an article right from the article itself. USA Today even goes as far to give you a 'mini' url...cool! It has all the cool features of the regular paper too such as their great graphics (polls and surveys they put in fun graphical form) and pictures to name a few. One feature many do not know about is you can customize many of the 'sections' to show what you are most interested in. For instance, in the 'News' category you can further refine it to show only 'Political' or 'Religious' stories. How cool is that? Better yet...it's a FREE app (although some articles have 'ads', the ads are done and presented so well I don't even mind it). This app actually puts their website to shame. Great job on the app USA Today!

This is one darn great app. One thing that makes this app so perfect for anyone is that it's free. It's also great because not only does it have the world news, it has weather, sports, photos and much, much more. My friend asked me "hey, did you hear that story about Bruce Springsteen thinking he was in Ohio when he was in Michigan?" I said no, so I got out my iPhone and in about 5 seconds, I heard that funny story. (do you think that's funny?) When I need to check the football scores, I go to this app. When I need to see the weather, I go to this app. IF YOU VALUE YOUR MONEY, GET THIS APP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having tried many of the free news applications in the App Store that come from a variety of news sources, I have to say that USA Today's app loads news stories faster than any of the others. Layout is very intuitive and it provides more space dedicated to the contents of a story than any of the other news apps, too. Also can get local weather right on the first page, meaning the app can be your single stop in the morning for all the important info you need before starting your day. Highly recommended!

What a great application for the iPhone. I used to have a web bookmark for USA TODAY to take me to their iPhone optimized website which I always thought was great to get news - but this application takes the cake. Not only can you get news in an easy-to-read format, but you can also add weather locations and have easy access to The Weather Channel radars and maps. Better yet, there are simple polls to take that then break down the results based on the Nation, Your State and Your City - very cool. Download this free application today!
