Description:

Improving your digital images has never been so easy. Just edit them with Jade and save the result. Jade uses state of the art algorithms to enhance image colors, contrast and dynamics, while preserving the overall quality of your images. Then, if you’d like, you may adjust the algorithm output by fine-tuning the global intensity parameter. Just tap the screen to compare the original and the enhanced images.
This is a DataMind technology demo. Pictures are saved to a maximum resolution of 640x480 to avoid memory issues and to speed up the enhancement process. Parameters tuning is limited to the global intensity. To get a full version of Jade you can visit our website:
http://products.datamind.biz/jade
There you will find more image editing software with more features, more parameters and available for many different platforms.

Supremely usefull!  rating of Jade
By: NebNaed - 14-Jul-2008

Well well...what have we here... A program that actually works! This transforms the iPhones mediocre camera into something actually usefull! It corrects exposure and White ballence problems that allot of iphone taken images have, it's quick and easy to do and considering it's on phone... The results are pretty darn spanky (good). All in all, well worth the cash, exspecially if you are planning to photoblog from your iPhone regilarily. Satisfied customer!

Great for correcting your iPhone cam photos before sending  rating of Jade

I think some users are expecting this to be PhotoShop. It's not. It's for when you've just taken a picture with your iPhone camera that could use some lightening, saturation, or basic clean up before you email it or post it from your iPhone.
The filters are actually very good and usually make a good call: better than iPhoto's Enhance button. Jade works automatically, you probably won't even need to mess with the slider for most images. To see how much improvement has been made, tap the screen. It does a good job and is very easy to use.
There is some odd texture in pictures that were very dark before processing. I hope this is addressed in the next update. I'm sure the reason the images are limited to 640x480 is that an iPhone won't email images larger than that. But I would like to see it save full size images as well.

Actually quite good  rating of Jade

It actually does quite a good job at improving low-quality pictures. Better than the iPhoto filter. Very good for on-the-go changes, and for pics taken with the iPhone.
Escaport, Design Elements and other negative reviewers: I don't think you get what the app does. Its full power is that you do *not* have to adjust zillions of parameters to get a picture optimized! Just take a poor quality picture and run te app, and check the difference with the original. Try to match the result with any other app that has many more parameters, and see which one does the best job, and compare how long all these operations take with Jade and with the other programs. Of course if you start with a good picture to begin with, you will see nothing!
As for the resizing of the picture: this what ANY photo app on the Iphone/Ipod Touch does. That's what Apple allows you to do on the Iphone. So don't complain for that. Surely the developers should do a much better job at explaining all these points!!!

nice add-on  rating of Jade

It's a way to improve the photos taken with the iphone build in camera.
A setting menu would be nice.

Just what the iPhone camera needed  rating of Jade

This is a nice little app. Simple... yes. Easy to use... yes. The iPhone camera suffers from lack of contrast and saturation. Jade helps quite a bit, and is tunable on how much it helps. I gave it 4 because I would like separate controls for saturation and contrast, however I'm being picky.

Not bad, hope next version steps it up  rating of Jade

Does add contrast, but at the cost of some quality and noise, and photo gets resized to 640x480. Would like to see more controls outside of the one slider. One big issue: to flip between before/after, you touch the screen, but the before is stretched out, distorted -- this needs fixed asap.

a slight problem  rating of Jade

On my iphone this little app rotates the picture by 90 degrees for some reason. From then on the picture is 90 degrees off from what the phone thinks it should be.

What they don't tell you...  rating of Jade
By: Blogography - Jul 13, 2008

... is that any image you process with Jade is shrunk to 640x480 pixels! This is a nasty compromise to have to make in order to improve your photos. At the very least, they should allow working at iPhone's camera res of 1600 x 1200 pixels. I would have never bought Jade had I known this... they should tell you in the description.

Unfortunately, Picoli supersedes this ...  rating of Jade
By: razorianFly - 26-Jul-2008

I originally bought Jade for 2.99, and was happy.
Then Picoli came out today (26th) and it just blows it away in my opinion.
Jade features an interface which consists of one modification gauge, which tbh, in my opinion just seems to lighten the image(s)
Picoli is a fully featured editing suite with a damn sight more filters (12 in total), and for the same price.
I hope a future update will bring Jade up to the standard of Picoli.
I now own both.

Dave 4G  rating of Jade
By: Dave4G - 16-Jul-2008

Let's face it the camera on the iPhone isn't great and so I was keen to see if this App would do anything to improve things. I knew it couldn't fix the most common problem with iPhone pics - blurry photos but hoped it would enhance images that were fairly sharp. Sadly it can only help one very specific type of photo. If you took a photo in landscape with the square menu button on the right and the picture came out slightly dark and grey this App can make significant improvements. In every other case it will rotate your picture upside down, make portrait pictures landscape and have no positive effect on the image. To it's credit it will never over-write the original image. If you are suffering from dark landscape images and are willing to pay to be able to tweak those pics on your phone then this is the app for you. If you are expecting miraculous restoration of any other image flaws then look elsewhere.

Overpriced  rating of Jade
By: Xenophos - 30-Oct-2008
Version: 1.2.0
Jade does a good job for what it does. It's ridiculously simple, but it's overpriced and under-featured. It should be a buck, not A$6. Other apps can do as good a job almost as easily, and can do more besides for the same or less cost.

Meh  rating of Jade

Glad I got a chance to test for free. I had to reboot to get it to work. Before that I was getting a white screen when touching. Overrall, I can't justify the purchase. It's a one trick pony and not a robust one either. Basically it's a little bit of autolevels and autocontrol rolled into one slider. You can get far more control and features from PhotoGene (if you have it that's all you need). Pass on this one.

Jade - supposed photo editing software  rating of Jade
By: Customers Reviews - Jul 13, 2008

Just purchased this software and ALL it does is allow you to lighten or darken a photo. As you lighten the photo becomes grainy and looks bad. Save your money and do NOT purchase this VERY weak piece of software.

flips your picture  rating of Jade
By: vmac2 - Jul 11, 2008
Version: 1.0.0
It does lighten up the shot a bit...nothing dramatic, but it flips your picture to the wrong orientation, and you can't get it back to the correct view. Am I missing something? If I can fix the flipping issue I'd give it a mediocre review, but as it is now, it is useless.

Terrible  rating of Jade
By: Design Element - Jul 11, 2008
Version: 1.0.0
It makes you think its advanded in its description by using the word algorithms but in reality the program does a poor job of adding contrast...which is all it does. Hey maybe it could be forgivable as a cheap little fun thing but the interface is the worst of it. The picture flips around every which way...hold the phone portrait...the picture goes landscape...and vice versa (you know like those rougue pictures that won't sit still when you try to look at them because you took it at on off angle) as well as the photo being totally morphed narrow on the screen for some reason. Anyways...it is a mistake to buy..i'm sure the first of many in this new Iphone Application landscape. Bye 5 dollars...it was nice knowing ya....

Epic waste of money  rating of Jade

Changes are seemingly unapparent. App is slow with a poor UI.
