Reviews:
Wonderful! By: Seastarmusic - 7-Mar-2009 Version: 1.2.1 Great app and well worth the price. It took me three days to figure out how to switch languages. Go to your settings app and scroll down (that's the one where you can set brightness, etc) until you find the iBreviary icon. Switch languages there. Exit settings and relaunch iBreviary. Hit the circular back arrow at the top left. You have to do that for each of the sections and then it will pop up in your language.
Wonderful way to read the Breviary By: Meggie E G - Oct 10, 2009 Version: 1.2.1 Reposting my review. See below on how to change settings. Just go to you Ipod settings and you will see ibreviary. There you can pick language, font and other settings.
Just to add to my review. So many are reporting problems with this app and the main problem is they don't know how to use it. You've got to include some sort of instruction. For those who don't understand, you need Wifi to update the breviary but once that is done you can read offline. To change the language you need to go to Ipod settings and you will see settings for this app. You can change the font and language. Then go back to the app and update it again and you will have the language you want.
Some are reporting problems updating. This app doesn't automatically update. You have to go to each tab - Breviary, Mass and prayers and press the little icon in the upper left corner. Never fails for me. To change the language you need to go to the settings for your iPhone/Ipod and you will find the settings for the Breviary. I love this app. It is a great way to carry the Liturgy of the Hours with me wherever I go.
Correct English Version (for U.S.) By: Fr Andrew - Sep 19, 2009 Version: 1.2.1 I was happy to see that the English version is the same translation used in Catholic Book Publishing four volume Liturgy of the Hours. Daytime prayer only includes readings for Midday, no pslams or readings for Midmorning and Midafternoon. I have not seen what happens during feasts, solemnitys, and optional memorials. For the price, this is great application, especially when you find yourself seperated from your breivary and it is time to pray.
Keeps Crashing By: KillerTeacup - Jun 4, 2009 Version: 1.2.1 I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times. After each reinstall, it will get as far as letting me click "update", but then it will crash. If I try to open it again after that, it will show me the home screen, and then go right back to my apps list. I've tried syncing with iTunes, but it doesn't help. Have tried contacting developers too. Can anyone help? I LOVE the idea with this app and it was great for the two days it worked. I really want it back.
Wonderful!!...and only Aproved translation By: LP FAN !@# - Mar 8, 2009 Version: 1.2.1 Perfect app! Beautiful to look at. Doesn't fill my memory with the whole brievary and best of all, and no knock on their admirable work but, unlike the Universalis app, these are the approved English translations of the psalms and readings, exactly what appears in the actual books. I have prayed along on my phone, word for word, with others using "Christian Prayer". Kind of a hoot :) No other portable, practical resource offers that. It also does not take understanding the form for granted. If you're new to LOTH, no shorthand or missing prayers like most of the books. Issues others have reported must be mosly fixed, I have encountered none of them except the Antiphon for the invititory is indeed missing, but on the other app, at 30 bucks(!) ALL the psalm antiphons except that one are missing. Most important. I pray it!!!!! More than any other form of the hours.
Application now working again! By: FMOmbr - Oct 17, 2009 Version: 1.2.1 I used the application for months. Absolutely priceless. When I upgraded my iPhone to the 3GS, the application stopped working all together. I tried to contact the developer. No response. As a final resort, I deleted the application from iTunes (as well as the iPhone). I then went to the app store and bought the application again - NOTE: After clicking the buy button, it told me that I had already purchased the app and asked if I want to re-download it. I downloaded it again and installed to the iPhone. IT WORKS AGAIN! For those of you that experienced the same problem - where the application stopped working, you may want to follow the same procedure to restore the functionality.
Absolutely wonderful! By: SummertimeJazz - Feb 21, 2009 Version: 1.2.1 I LOVE this application. I often misplace my books (ah the life of a college undergrad), so it's great to have this in a place where I will not lose it. This is something great for us busy people on the go who try to find a way to pray while balancing everything out. For those of you asking for English translations, simply go to your settings (on the iPod touch), look for this application (should be above the Nike - iPod application), click on it and select your language. It should have the language (English, Latin, Spanish, etc) you are looking for. :D

Fixed my crashed breviary! By: carol mcdonna - Feb 10, 2009 Version: 1.2.1 Connect your itouch or iphone to itunes. Before you sync uncheck the breviary box so that the application will be removed from your device. Click okay when itunes asks if you want to remvove the app from your device. Then sync again but check the Breviary application this time so it will reload onto your device. This worked for me! I could update again and I am so happy! Thanks to Star654321 for the advice!

Quite a Useful Program! By: Geo K - Jan 22, 2009 Version: 1.2.1 I wanted to leave my few words on this App. I was in a conference in Italy and had downloaded this App to accompany me. Downloaded, I changed the language in the 'settings' and began to see how it looked. This is a great looking App; colourful and its appearance was pleasant. The separate readings and breviary pages are a help to keep the App organized and know where I am in the day. When in Italy, since there was a wifi connection, I could update every day and even change the language to follow along in Italian. Grazie!
Thank you for a wonderful application! By: StrawberryPineapple - Jan 21, 2009 Version: 1.2.1 And with the different languages available, I can even get to brush up and learn the Readings & prayers in other languages! :D And yes, it's very easy to choose the language of your choice for this application. Just go to your iPhone's main "Settings" (the button that has those silver gears; the one where you control your own user settings for Sounds, Brightness, General, Safari, etc. etc.), scroll all the way to the bottom, there you will find the settings for iBreviary (among many other 3rd party applications that you may already have).
Excellent! Aid for a busy Priest. By: Fr. JC Maximilian - Jan 10, 2009 Version: 1.2.1 I am a priest and I learnt about this program from a news story. Since it was not expensive (unlike Universalis) I decided to give it a try. At first I could not figure out how to switch it to English (need to go to the iPhone's settings icon), but I read a review that explained how. Then I was a little put off by the non-standard US translation. Within a week it had the ICEL (US translation) of the LOH and Daytime (Midday) prayer. The only thing I would like to see added is a calendar to see the Mass readings for the next couple of days.

Able to translate - Wish 1 month at a time or full year downloadable By: Diana Ruz - Jan 4, 2009 Version: 1.2.1 This is a great application. I was able to translate to English by pressing a Recycle button on my Iphone. I do not usually open my computer daily since I have the Iphone and do most of my email on it. I wish the application could provide the full breviary in one download (all 365 days)... That way when I awake, instead of turning on my computer, I could turn to the Iphone and pray First Vespers... How do we get this suggestion to Father?

Outstanding find! By: Aeaea - Dec 14, 2008 Version: 1.2 I stumbled upon this application by accident -- and what a find! iBreviary provides the daily readings for Catholic Mass, prayers of the hours (Breviary) and other prayers, all translated into English, French, Italian, Latin, Spanish and the Ambrosian Rite. To change languages, go to the Settings Panel (probably on the home screen of your iPhone/iTouch) to choose your language and text options for this app. I'm sure this will come in handy when I feel the need to pray and/or reflect on things of a more spiritual nature than some of the games I've purchased. :-) Note that iBreviary requires an Internet connection to download each day's readings, but it's very quick and saves the text for the rest of the day without reconnecting. Well done Dimitri. Thanks for creating this application!
From Father Paolo By: Don's Review - Dec 14, 2008 Version: 1.2 I found this at the cultofmac.com website. It was written by Father Paolo Padrini. I hope this is helpful. It was dated December 13, 2008. Dear Sirs, Editing and Friends of iBreviary, first of all I wanted to thank you for the support already shown towards our application. iBreviary, as you know, it’s a new application for iPhone, available from immediately in Spanish, French, English, Latin and Italian. iBreviary offers the possibility, in a simple way and in a perfect “Apple style”, to pray in mobility with the prayer of the Breviary. It offers besides the readings of the Mass of the Day (Missal), as well as the principal Catholic prayers. The application, realized by me together with the technician and developer Dimitri Giani, has got the approval and the encouragement of the Vatican. iBreviary has now reached its third updating. This updating brings important changes: - available application in version Italian and English - available readings in English, French, Spanish, Latin and in Ambrosian Rite - possibility to pray with the Compieta of the previous day - new dress graphics - possibility to increase the size of the characters - possibility of use in formed “landscape” rotating the iPhone - page of explanation about the use of the Breviary - fix of some bugs The application is available inside the app store to the price of support for the developers of 0,79 cents (Euro). Besides, also Facebook will have his “digital Breviary”. Its name is “Praybook” and it’s an available application on the most important social network of the world. The application allows to pray on line with the same prayers of iBreviary. Thanks for everything. father Paolo Padrini http://www.dimix.it/ibreviary
