Reviews:
doesn't work with Edge By: nuffcords - Aug 11, 2008 Version: 1.0 Like most iphone widgets this one is useless and not practical. You need two networks to use it. A computer connected (of course) PLUS your iphone needs to be connected to WIFI. It doesn't work with the EDGE network. So if you are in your house, you need to install a wireless system along with your regular connection. One day apple will finally wake up and allow us to remotely connect to itunes using edge and download Podcasts onto our iphone. Or heaven forbid be able to listen to live streaming on itunes. Till then, all these widgest are flashy, and trendy but useless.
Awsome By: Jimbo 1234 - Aug 11, 2008 Version: 1.0 This app is worth getting it's amazing
OMG By: Ry-pod - Aug 11, 2008 Version: 1.0 So I'm not good with iPod stuff but this works great!! Very easy to use!
An iPhone Must Have! By: ckowitz - Aug 11, 2008 Version: 1.0 OK, I definitely read reviews for iPhone applications because I have had a couple of bugs. As a result I pass up applications where others report problems. I often wonder if some of the negative reviews are written before the person really understands the cause for their problem. Out of personal policy I do not write a review unless I can write a little bit on why the application failed or the application just blows me away. Well this is why I write about the application Remote… When I first used "Remote" it did not work. I even uninstalled it from my iPhone. I later read in the iPhone Discussions the need to open up a port on your computer's firewall to share iTunes. So I selected iTunes Music Sharing (Tiger) under the Firewall under System Preferences. I then launched Remote on my iPhone and typed in the four digit number in iTunes.Bam! I can see and control everything on my iMac G5's iTunes. This is absolutely amazing. Because this is Wi-Fi I do not have to be in line of sight with my computer. The only phone I have is an iPhone. As a result I often carry it around the house in my pocket and can now control from the patio or back room my iTunes music booming over my stereo. I have all of the interface features of the iPod function on my iPhone. I see album art etc. I can shuffle, repeat, control the volume and more, all from my iPhone. So, I am writing this review because I am blown away! I am also happy my personal policy is not to write a bad review unless I know why something does not work for me. Because Remote works so well I wanted to write a thank you to the developer. Then I saw it is provided by Apple. So, thank you Apple. This application on my iPhone is a Grand Slam. It is another example of how the iPhone is becoming an electronic Swiss Army knife. Amazing!Cheers,Chuck
Freaken awesome and it's free!!! By: ELSock - Aug 11, 2008 Version: 1.0 This app should be a firmware update so it's "hard wired" in. It rocks!!
I don't know By: Jpics - Aug 11, 2008 Version: 1.0 It a good app but is getting my sick bcuz my bro use it only pc Everytime I'm using my pc ...
Needs iPhone update By: Jeff2 - Aug 11, 2008 Version: 1.0 One idea that had was the ability to listen to your iTunes music through remotes but only using headphones plugged into your iPhone. Great work
Got it to work after a bit By: kawaharley - Aug 11, 2008 Version: 1.0 Had trouble getting this fine app to work you have to start the apple service called Bonjour. In windows goto run type services.msc from there find Bonjour service right click and start the service. You may want to set it to automaticso it starts with windows. Have fun.
OK, but not in all circumstances By: johlaobaad - Aug 11, 2008 Version: 1.0 My PC is upstairs. In order to get a wifi signal up here, I added an expander from Linksys. My iTouch works quite well with this program when it is downstairs connected to the Linksys router. It really does not work well or at all when it gets the Linksys expander signal. Not sure why that is, but it is repeatable 100% of the time.So 5 stars for the cool program minus 2 stars for not working in all circumstances.
works only sometimes By: ervwieurhwnqvieuhrcnw - Aug 11, 2008 Version: 1.0 Application works well -- when it works. The mac mini where I have my music library has to usually be rebooted every other time I want to use the remote, which makes the application impractical...
Love it By: JoeyCrack92 - Aug 10, 2008 Version: 1.0 Best app. Ever. Using it right now. My friends are amazed that I can control my music from my iPod.
Do NOT connect with USB to the computer when using!! By: F0iBle - Aug 10, 2008 Version: 1.0 Set up was quick and easy and it works just like it's supposed to. Very cool and useful app. *** I was using it on my iPhone and then connected it to the computer via USB and iTunes crashed, freezing my computer and my iPhone rebooted, but never made it past the boot screen. I had to do a full restore.
Going crazy By: Barb34 - Aug 10, 2008 Version: 1.0 I can put in code but my iPhone isn't picking up library. It keeps saying cannot find owners library. What am I doing wrong?
Awesome By: Lobster1 - Aug 10, 2008 Version: 1.0 Don't leave a 1 star if you can't get it working. It sets up easy and works great.
Love it, but needs one more bit of functionality By: GiftedMike - Aug 10, 2008 Version: 1.0 This is an awesome application, it's just what I was looking for. There is one more thing that needs to be added: control over the output from iTunes. When you add Airport Express base stations to your network, they can stream the music from iTunes, and the output can be controlled selectively (i.e., any combination of the base stations for music to stream over). However, you can't currently control the output with this application, hopefully that'll come in an update. iTunes itself needs an update to stream different music streams over each receiver...this will completely knock Sonos from the market.
Works but can't stay connected! By: bclau76 - Aug 10, 2008 Version: 1.0 Work but the remote doesn't stay connected to my Library. I get dropped off even after 5min. It's a bit fustrating because it takes a while to get reconnected to the Library.
Can not find my library By: Frustrated17 - Aug 10, 2008 Version: 1.0 How is this possible
BEST FREE APP! By: Poouhjl - Aug 10, 2008 Version: 1.0 Works great! Initially I had trouble with iTunes even recognizing my iPhone so I unistalled and tried again and now it works perfectly!
Worth the 2.0.1 upgrade for $10 By: Eltaco - Aug 10, 2008 Version: 1.0 I bought my 32gb model when it was first released, this app just added value to that $500 I spent!
Amazing By: Ztrumpi - Aug 10, 2008 Version: 1.0 Awesome
Spent 5 Hours Trying To Get It To Work By: bzirvine - Aug 10, 2008 Version: 1.0 I looked at a few of the other reviews and I can see that I'm not alone. I'm convinced this app has a bug and it does not work on some wireless networks. I tried every possible firewall configuration that I can think of. I installed 2.0.1 on my iPhone. I opened the TCP and UDP ports completely. I installed iTunes 7.7.1.11 on my PC. I verified that both my PC and my iPhone are connected to the same wireless network, etc., etc., etc. My iTunes does not discover the iPhone device and thus I cannot enter the code. Apple should provide a manual discover option until they get this bug fixed.I would love to be one of those lucky people that get to use this wonderful app but I give up after wasting five hours trying to get it to work!!!!!!!!!!
