This is an amazing and useful application. All outdoorsman should be able to get an understanding of their bearings by viewing the stars. This will help teach you the important constellations. I wish I had this when I took 4 semesters of astronomy classes in college.

As the inveterate sky, star and weather watcher I'm always asking questions about these phenomena - okay, so what that star out there? And I oftentimes ask them when there's no one around to answer the inquiry. This is a great answering tool - see a star + and learn what it is! Marvel-making!

This is a fantastic app even if your not a stargazer. It is absolutely fascinating and even at my age it has taught me a lot about the skies above me. It makes the night skies come alive and I am finally able to recognize and locate the many stars and planets and constellations that before were just unamed objects. Extremely well done and worth the price.
Great Google Sky Map Alternative

This has been a great app. I can step out into the night and know within seconds what heavenly body I'm seeing. Well worth the cost.

Compass works beautifully and the sky view is large enough to give context to the constellations. I especially appreciate that the iPad is not as sensitive to movement as in Distant Suns, which responds more like holding a real compass in your hand. I plan to use Go sky watch for the overview, then use Distant Suns for the details if needed. Go sky watch is simpler, more user friendly and intuitive. Plus FUN! Thanks for a great app!

I have never been so impressed with an iPhone app. It's dead-on accurate, shows little pics of the object you lock onto, links to wikipedia for the object, the ability to find an object. The only very minor complaint is that the default should list every object in its database and every name for that object, including "common" names like The Big Dipper. Not everybody buying this app knows the proper name and many want to do a search for the Bayer/Flam version of the name. For example I couldn't find Alpha Centauri on a name search but it came up under Rigel Kentaurus (I never knew that name). So, needs a little improvement on searches but otherwise it will continue to astound you.

We gave our grand son a telescope and this was the perfect companion for finding stars and plants. Well worth the price gave my son the app for his iPhone and they have enjoyed using it on many night in central Texas.
