This is app is just fantastic. I know if I want to chill, I can dock my iPhone, choose a sound and close my eyes. The sound quality is good enough. Try not to pay too much attention to some of the sounds when listening, as you may sometimes notice the track is a repeated sample. Otherwise, the sounds are good quality recordings.

I downloaded this a while ago, while it was still in it's infancy. While not all of the sounds quite lived up to my sound quality benchmark (through decent Monitor Audio speakers) what set this app apart from most others was it's seemless playback. Nearly every other app of this type has a small (or large) gap when the sound reaches the end & repeats - Ambiance does not. Not only that the sounds are painstakingly looped so there's no obvious beginning & end point.Ambiance 2.0 takes things to a whole new level. One of the glossiest interfaces I've ever seen, even more sounds & you only download the ones you want rather than taking up precious Megabytes on your iPhone or iTouch with ones you don't (though you can still delete sounds with the old version). With this 2.0 upgrade Ambiance is arguably the premiere audio relaxation app in the App Store. My hat goes off to the developers for putting in the hard yards. Well done!***A word of warning though there is still a persistant problem with this app crashing (even with 35MB of free memory available). Thankfully it doesn't happen during playback but only during editing (downloading, changing catagories etc).

Amazing and best ambient sound program out there. I was able to create a mix that reminds me of the boisterous sounds I'd wake up to in the morning when visiting family overseas: eggs frying, a rooster crowing, children playing in the living room, and the muffled sound of motorcabs driving by. Nostalgia at its best.

OK, so the sounds are free to get (an oversight when hurridly looking at the app), but do chew into your net usage listening to them all to preview them ;)I have to agree with previous reviews that some of the sounds are awful. I love the Brown & Pink Noises, as they block out all other sounds when you're trying to sleep. But those sounds that are rated as the most popular are terrible.With improved sounds, this app could be very good.

I liked the original (and have downloaded it separately as the renamed “Ambiance Classic”), but I really like what Matt has put into this new version. I am surprised to read that there was sufficient backlash against this version to cause him to rerelease the earlier one as a separate app.The new version does look very different, but it’s professional and clever in that it doesn’t give you sounds that you potentially may not want. The store-within-an-app concept by which you get new free sounds works well. I like the additional meta data in the form of artwork, ratings by users and descriptions.The new version takes the functionality of the original and expands the way you interact with the content. I think it’s a step in the right direction.
