Reviews:
Amazing By: fezzicNEX - Apr 17, 2009 Version: 1.1 This is a real surprise. I couldn't believe how JotNot straightened and cleaned up the photo. I just wish it could save photos to it's own album instead of the default camera roll.
Impressive App! By: Robert H. Heath - Apr 16, 2009 Version: 1.1 I boought JotNot 1.1 to scan receipts because I hate to carry around little bits of paper almost as much as I hate not getting reimbursed for business expenses. This app does exactly what it claims and its ability to create legible images of receipts and notes is truly impressive. This app more than pays for itself if you're like me and constantly mis-placing or losing taxi receipts.
Extremely Useful By: M.M. Productions - Apr 14, 2009 Version: 1.1 This is a nice solid app that work just as described! I used to take pictures of my schesduals, reciepts, an papers just to refer back to them. This makes them all legible now. Well worth 99 cents. The only problem is the resolution of the iPhones camera. The app makes the pictures a little clearer then standard though.
Some things that would attract more people.
1) take use of the acelerometer when taking pictures so it can be very clear.
2) make image options pop up while viewing cut images. So you can see which option is best, rather then having to go through the process if the contrast/black and white doesn't work.
Overall still 5 stars.
Great job
Great for expenses By: Bubbatude - Apr 13, 2009 Version: 1.1 I use this to take photos of receipts i need for expense reports. Then I email them to myself. The phone I had before did a great job on receipts but the IPhone was not so good. This app did the trick. Well worth more then I paid.
Disappointed By: Dutchness - Apr 12, 2009 Version: 1.1 This is the first app I actually paid for and maybe I had some higher expectations. It basically only let you cut of the edges of an image.
Quite useful, lacks refiltering By: guniem - Apr 12, 2009 Version: 1.1 Nice for aligning reciepts and whiteboards and compensating a bit the poor camera quality with filters.
It really lacks a way to test different settings *after* processing the image once, without having to retake the picture and redefining the image boundaries.
Good start, great update! By: m_percyval - Apr 10, 2009 Version: 1.1 Edit v1.1---------------After downloading v1.1, I feel it only right to edit my previous review and bump my rating up from 3 stars to 5 stars. Every one of my previous comments was addressed in this release. Top notch product now. And quite a bargain at the current 99-cent price. Any criticism left now is for the iPhone's camera (stability), not the app. Well done! If you have such a need, you'd be crazy not to jump on 99 cents.v1.0---------------------5 stars from 7 reviewers... really... developers/friends/family, please stop hyping up your own product. I give it 3 stars because they're off to a good start. It's far from the miracle they'd like you to believe it is. The interface is nice enough, but two gripes. First, you can't zoom the processed image in the app, so you're forced to save/exit/open photo app/zoom/delete/exit photo app/launch Jotnot/start over. Would be nice to zoom the image in the app to see if it's actually legible before saving. Then second, why bother saving the original? Just makes me have to go clear out my photo app later. Why would I bother using your app if I wanted the original? And if you take several shots from within the app, and then delete them before finding a 'keeper' (and it will take several attempts), all of those originals are in your photo app. Kind of messy. From a processing perspective, it would be nice if there were a "black and white" only mode for receipts. And maybe a contrast setting/slider to help make the receipts more legible. I'm constantly getting yellow shadows and alias artifacts around the text in my receipts (and therefore washed out text) because it's introducing color where there isn't any.Like I said, good start. I'm into it now for 4 bucks, so I look forward to future development.
Works amazingly well By: Jhartman - Apr 10, 2009 Version: 1.1 I'm really surprised by how well this works. Exceeded my expectations.
Good app, great update! By: trentli686 - Apr 6, 2009 Version: 1.1 This app was good before. After this update it's A LOT better. No more crashing, ever. Lots of new options to play with! I really like all the crazy photo effects I can make with this when I'm not using it for work. Works really well on my business card collection!
Great product! By: Paulahr - Apr 6, 2009 Version: 1.1 I recommend this to everyone wants a simple way to save white board notes and distribute them.
Great for saving expense tickets, etc.
Thanks for the update.
Black & white a good option.
Wonderful Application! By: ARDesign - Apr 6, 2009 Version: 1.1 As I designer I need to keep track of various receipts for my clients and JotNot is the perfect application for it. I recommend it for everyone!
Not good By: Poker-pro - Apr 2, 2009 Version: 1.0 Cost way to much for this app. Picture works better
Horrible By: Othaniel - Mar 30, 2009 Version: 1.0 Worst application I've put on my iPhone ever. Does not work as intended or described. Needs better "optimizing". Would be better to use OCR type computations.
Crashes like a mutha By: Xultar - Mar 27, 2009 Version: 1.0 Has potential but crashed all the time and images are mostly poor.
I don't like it By: El mousa - Mar 25, 2009 Version: 1.0 I don't recommend it .
This works astonishing well By: PMM_ - Mar 25, 2009 Version: 1.0 Those that have complained about the limitations of the iPhone camera -- you know who you are -- should look at this app. It does exactly as advertised: Takes your receipts & notes and converts them in to legible, readable pictures.
JotNot By: KoukiFC3S - Mar 23, 2009 Version: 1.0 Great app but it likes to crash a lot. I don't wanna restart my iPhone just to scan a receipt.
Bad start By: gbsales - Mar 22, 2009 Version: 1.0 After installing the software I took a picture of a receipt. When trying to click on the upper left red circle to adjust the image I hit the Main button. (This happens a lot). If you do this there doesn't seem to be a way to get back to your photo, maybe import? I decided to take another photo and it froze the phone while the circle was spinning. I waited a few minutes then had to do a hard boot. At that point the phone would only work in emergency mode. I had to re-verify it with iTunes. I connected it and waited about 15 minutes and it was still verifying so I let it go. The phone finally was verified or restored but I don't know how long it took. The quality of the processed image was poor but I don't know if it's the software or the phone. I think the program has great potential but still needs work.
Update: locked up whole phone while processing. Hard reboot. Second time.
Looking forward to updates By: DJ_Ninja - Mar 21, 2009 Version: 1.0 Would be good if the user can adjust enhancement settings. Currently it is good for black and white documents but not for full colour magazine pages as they turn out too contrasty after the auto enhancement.
Good By: KKENN - Mar 19, 2009 Version: 1.0 I like the app. It does need an improved selection process and PDF support with FTP maybe?... Also, I don't want the originals saved, this should be an option. "scanning" reciepts with my Griffin Clarifi lens is pretty gratifying. I would recommend buying now, as the updates will only bring more usability and cost in the near future. As of now, it's a typical bare bones 1.0 app, but good.
As advertised, and more By: Christian E. - Mar 19, 2009 Version: 1.0 Not only does it work quite well for digitizing whiteboards, receipts, etc, but it also creates amazing (seriously) stylized images from any ho-hum photo. JotNot is well worth it for the artistic fun alone.
