The number of one star reviews has skyrocketed after Kazuho placing a small ad at the top of the main screen. Devolopers need to make some money off their work. I don't understand how people can be that bothered by it. I haven't noticed any slow down by the ads and they don't bother me for all of the function this app provides. I can easily post messages, send my current location, post pictures, and links (with included bookmarklet) to twitter. Do you not use a site with "Ads by Google" links? Give this app a try, it offers everything Tweetie does for FREE.

After someone recommended on Twitter for me to stop using Twitterrific on the day I first received my Iphone 2G with 3.0 firmware, and to use Twitterfon, I downloaded it and was slightly suprised. It looks very similar to Twitterrific, but has labels! Finally! But, when not comparing it to another app, this app is wonderful. Aside from being ad supported, if it is (apps with ads usually make it hard to notice.) this is a wonderful app to use Twitter on the go.

So the latest update contains unobtrusive ads at the top of the screen. Big deal. You expect to get a great quality app like TwitterFon for free? The developers deserve to make SOMETHING off this amazing Twitter app.
I love the new features, especially the threaded conversations. I'll gladly be buying the pro version (which is ad-free) when it comes out in the next few days. But in the meantime people, shut up about the ads. It's one little strip at the top of the window, not even visible when you scroll down.
You get what you pay for, which by the way, was FREE.

Absolute best Twitter client out there.

TwitterFon is, in my opinion, the absolute best Twitter client in the App Store. It contains almost all of the features of full web Twitter wrapped in a slick package that is fast, clean, and attractive. The app's creator is also extremely attentive when it comes to user feedback, application issues, bugs, etc. I highly recommend, at the very least, trying this app out.
Thank you to the creator of TwitterFon for creating such an excellent app, and for supporting it so thoroughly!

As far as the FREE twitter apps go, this one is superior. It doesn't require you to register with them, or any other service you don't want you sign up for. True, the interface is basic, but it does the job and doesn't clutter the limited screen real-estate like some other twitter apps. My only complaint is the somewhat small font size. An option to change this would be nice. In sum, the best FREE twitter app for the iPhone/iTouch.

Love this app. Is simple. Fast and looks great. Can do the nearby tweets like twinke but only if you ask instead of forcing it everytime you open the app. Love the users timeline and search as well. Also great photo and location (again by choice) intergration. Love it.
People, deal with the ads, can't expect a awesome twitter app with no ads at all can you? If you don't want the ads shell out some dosh for it jeeze, can't expect developer(s) to spend their time just doing this for nothing.

This app is great and gets the job done with managing your Tweets. It also has more features than twiterrific such as deleting a tweet, automatically check for new tweets every 5 minutes, and more. This app also works great with cellular networks on my iPhone, I've never had a crash before. The only problem I have is that it doesn't have a cool notification sound when there's a new Tweet like in Twitterrific. Overall, I like this app a lot and I use this every day of my life.

This app does what you need it to and does it clean and fast. No learning curve. Yank the phone out of you pocket, push the button and tweet you go! MAJOR plus is this is the only one (that I have found) that stores the last batch of tweets locally. So even without any signal you can see the last tweets you collected. What this also means is you don't have to wait for them to download every time you start the app. The old ones are there in a second and then screen updates with the latest tweets. Makes sense. This is important to some of us in remote locals. Kudos to the author. Nice job.

Bumped into Kelly Ripa last week at a restaurant in NYC and she told me she uses this free app on her iPhone. Her producer installed it for her after she became obsessed with Twitter last Monday when her guest co-host Ashton Kutcher took the time to explain to her what Twitter is all about. This app is easy to figure out and use. I'm on it all the time and no... it does NOT require an wi-fi connection to work. Thanks, Kelly, Gelman... and Ashton!

"this is the best twitter app" is what I would have said 3 days ago when this piece of junk worked. Then it randomly crashed every time I opened it. The creater blamed it on twitter's end. I tried again for another day and it only got worse. I am now using natsulion until a new update comes out for this. It's so sad to see such a great app crash endlessly. And that is why I gave it a 1star rating.

I've used the main Twitter apps: Tweetie, Twitterrific (free & premium) and Twitterfon. Twitterfon has all the options of the other two and my favorite feature: tells the number of new updates and highlights them on a different color. Choose the best Twitter app. Download Twitterfon! You have nothing to lose it's free. Update: the newest update makes TwitterFon much faster. Can't wait to try out pro.

I feel it's the best twitter app I have ever came across when compared to other free twitter apps. Goods: 1. Quite fast. 2. Simple and sweet appearance. 3. Search option(I loved this most). 4. Option to reply multiple people. 5. Able to load friends tweets(all) 6. Follow/Unfollow friends. Bads: 1. No option to send private messages. 2. Not loading the private messages. 3. Won't remember the position of last tweet I have seen. Hope to see all of these in next version :)

1/19/09 TwitterFon is the best interface I have ever used when checking Twitter. This app is so far ahead of every other Twitter app except maybe Tweetie. I prefer to use TwitterFon over Tweetie though as TwitterFon is much faster. Has almost every feature you could ever want and adds new ones on a regular basis. This is a must have app if you use Twitter and have an iPhone. The best part is it's FREE and it still beats the pay-for Twitter apps. 5/5 STARS!

I've tried several free clients and this is the one I like best. It's fast, easy to navigate, and perfectly reliable. It has a myriad of features that most users need, without a lot of clutter that you don't. Ads are minimal. I love how you can set it to autoscroll to the first "new" tweet since your last login. My only suggestion is that it would be nice to be able to change the settings inside the app rather than having to scroll through the Settings app until you find the TwitterFon settings pane.

5 Stars!.. Y? Cuz it's real easy to use, Fast downloads, and it does everything a Twitter app should do. Before this app, I didn't kno nothing about Twitter. Once I learned the purpose of Twitter, I became right at home w/ this app. Now, I'm a big Twitter guy and like to post all day long. This app was so satisfying that I actually paid for 2 new Twitter apps (Twittelater Pro & Twitterfon Pro) cuz I figured a paid app would bring more options. Come to find out not really! I ended up erasing Twitterfon & kept Twitterfon Pro (read my review for that). If u dnt wanna pay for a Twitter app, this is the one for u!

Simple and does practically everything you could wish for. The only thing I'd like in the next update is a 'my profile' shortcut so you can easily check the profiles of people who have added you and your previous Tweets timeline. I prefer this to Twitterlator and Tweetie owing to its pleasant simplicity, and what's more it's free. On a side note, don't use the review system to make sweeping statements about Twitter being a waste of time. It offers a lot to me and (time for MY sweeping statement) it is generally people with no perseverence and nothing to say - i.e. dullards - who don't 'get' Twitter. Personally I like having the latest tech news and correspondences from all my friends and people whom I pay an interest in sent straight to my phone in a pure, concise timeline. For all those who don't, just stick to joining pointless groups and uploading pictures of yourself drunk on facebook. Back to the point - Twitterfon is a satisfying user experience and cannot be faulted for a giveaway. I recommend trying out the sponsor-driven version of Twitterlator in case that style appeals to you, but as a fairly well-versed Twitter user I much prefer Twitterfon's clean style.

The creator deserves a lot more respect than he is getting all because people are freaking out about a half inch bar at the top of the home page. Get over it and be thankful that this awesome app was offered for free to begin with.

This is a no-gimmicks clean twitter interface that lets you do all the basics -- twitter, read new tweets from friends, search, and add pictures and GPS without the graphic distractions (or price!) of the other Twitter apps. No starry backdrops, no crowded screens, just messages. It always works, it's so simple it's almost invisible, and the developer is REALLY responsive to user feedback. Very nice.

i just clocked this versus twitteriffic, and it loaded up 30% faster. the app description is very accurate. this is great for tweeting on the go and checking the latest tweets from friends, but not much else. Sometimes, that's all you need though.
EDIT: Amending my review now that this App has seen a few updates. Its phenominal now, i really don't have much reason to use Twitterific anymore.
