This is a brilliant app - I cannot believe its free. The programmers have cleverly piggy backed one of the UKs best news reporting website to effortlessly stream all the latest news, goals and even match commentary on your favourite team from the Premiership right down to League 2!!!! This works brilliantly in practice too - im using the 1st Gen and this works exactly how you would expect it even in the ground away from any Wifi zones! It just works - but brilliantly - you can't ask for more than that
Please - if you are a football fan, get this, you will NOT be disappointed.

It's da best FREE footy app I love it I use it all the time to check what is going on with my team (TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR) I look forward to updates xxx it is way better than the plusmo soccer thing because ifooty is Easyer to underarsnd but it does need to be faster u mean it takes like 10minas to tell you it is the end of the match or there was a goal but other than that it is fantastic xxxxx Aaahh

Though it would be good if there were more laugues e.g. La liga, serie A etc. And then click on Barcelona, real Madrid, ac Milan etc. Also have an option on the bar at the bottom so you can click on the players and it tells you information about e.g. I'm a Stoke city supporter!! And you put toolbar on so I can then click on Ricardo Fuller then under that it says, DOB age, position, height, previous clubs and weather they are on form at the moment and then how many caps they've had for there country, and if they've been called up to the latest international team, or if they're retired from international football, including u21's, pictures of them. Etc. I think that would top this application off!! It would great!! Any1 agree??!

Any English or Scottish football fan should pick this up NOW. Top notch coverage, with match detail and text summary of the games, results and fixtures and an RSS feed all from the bbc site. I spend ages muddling thru all this on a saturday while out and about it'll be great for keeping ahead of all the info. Great job and very well put together.
Hopefully the league table will get W/L/D and points info as the season progresses?

Nice, clean user interface with lots of information of the team of your choice at the tip of your fingers. The live score with detailed 'minutes' is great and when a goal is scored it will say by who, how far out, what side and who the assist was from. Only improvement I can think of Is a page with all the live scores. Say, Saturday at 3, it has the scores of about 8 teams playing because right now to see the scores you have to individually click on each team name in the table. Fantastic for free though. Thank you :D

This app is a must for any football fan, it collates the BBC sports reports for your favourite team. Easy to look at other teams by going through the current league table - stats include fixtures, previous scores, bbc text reports, news stories.
Could be improved in my opinion by adding latest news stories for all teams + live scores for all leagues e.g. premiership all on one page.
But these are only minor niggles, a great time saving way of avoiding trawling through the BBC sports pages for the information you want about your favourite team.

This is an excellent app, I use it daily and find it most useful. The only thing that would make this a 'killer' app would be a full league table. I know they have improved this with a recent update but I think a full league table would make it brilliant! Just a suggestion... Make the table landscape then all the info would fit on screen. Make use of the accelerometer. Keep up the good work fella!

Update : Within days of this review they had both the of problems I list below fixed. Brilliant!
Overall I think this app is brilliant. There are a couple of rough edges that need polishing tho...
1) The league tables need the points and games played listed as well. Initially I didn't even realise this was actually a table, I thought it was a bug and was asking me to select my team again. It was only after reading some reviews that it became clear that the teams were ordered as they are currently in the league so, in a way, it is effectively a table. Update : Now fixed!
2) Champions League fixtures currently don't show up properly. I'm guessing the app is parsing the HTML from the BBC fixtures pages and these fixtures are laid out slightly different from the league fixtures which must be what is tripping it up. Update : Now fixed!
But these are minor gripes in what is a fantastic app. As a developer myself it's one of those apps that I wished I'd thought of writing myself. It's very slick and simple to use.

This is a superb app for football fans in england for prem scores that are updated usually saturdays and on tuesdays and wednesdays for champions league games and i feel sometimes when i have my laptop and i log in to check the scores, it takes a long time to load so when i just check on my ipod touch it dosen't take that long to look up!
If you use this there is no hassle.

A guy called mattybuck96 left one star cause he doesn't like footy,I ask why on earth would you even bother with your opinion on this app? it's unwanted and gives a great idea like this an overall worse rating then it deserves,if ever an app such as womens underwater dance comes out,then do us a favour and leave the comment to those that enjoy it (my aunts neighbour likes it)Who cares! any way great app.

After all the excitement of owning an iPhone and playing around with the novelty of iPint, Cuberunner and whatever else you may have come across it is high time I actually used some Apps that assisted with my day to day living.
Being a die hard football fan I am happy to say that iFooty is perfect for every English club supporter out there. You can choose any team from the Premier League, Championship, Leagues 1 and 2 plus the SPL. Once selected you have four clearly defined buttons at the bottom of the screen labelled Results, Match, Fixtures and News. All this information is coming from the BBC, which is great as this is where I usually get all my news and information from. Results are divided into months and provide scores from now to over a year ago. Match is a minute by minute run down of the last game played. You can update this DURING a match being played. Fixtures is self-explanatory and News is the best part. Why? Because it updates itself through Push data, and also has a number next to the icon on your homescreen informing you of how many news stories are unread. Perfect.
And to top it all off you can also see the league table standings (unfortunately this simply provides the team positions, no goal difference/games played etc data).
So as the new season is under way the timing of iFooty couldn't have been any better. Well done to the developers. Unlike Shazam, Hangman or Locly, I will actually be USING this app on a daily basis. Thank you very much!

This is the best free app so far! My only concern is how long will it remain free. You are getting a LOT of free info/news etc and it takes away the need to buy a paper. Only thing is it constantly says it needs updating or is it just me? Overall top notch!!
(17/09/2008)Surprise surprise. The "MAN" has had his way and pulled the fixtures. Considering this app is free WHY are they treating this programmer like a terrorist. ITS JUST THE FOOTY FIXTURES. Hopefully they see sense and allow the fixtures to return. A great app that was even better with the fixtures. Shame on the MAN!!

I never usually bother to review any of the applications that I have downloaded from I-Tunes, but I have to mention this one. It is a cracking little app that is very informative and very quick with score updates. I cant believe this app is free, considering the information it gives out is similar (but much better) to text alerts that can cost 25p plus per text to alert you of your fotball teams score/club news. Well worth downloading, you will not be dissapointed.

i too, would like an option for champions league and the cups too..... this would then be the Ultimate UK footy application, as ive been getting tired with seeing all the sports apps for american sports.

Football (Soccer) fans you have not been forgotten. With the hype of the Olympics in Beijing some may have thought the day would never come but its here finally an app for football fans to keep track of the score, league tables and the news. The premiership kicked off Saturday and that went by quite unnoticeable for the general sports fans with everything about the Olympics wasn't much left for the footy but iFooty did not forget. This app is completely free of charge just select your team and your away not missing a minute of the action, home or away, high and lows iFooty keeps you up to date with minute by minute action!
This has a very wide selection of leagues it covers with the Premiership, Championship, League 1, League 2 and the Scottish Premier. Being an Ipswich Town fan often don't find much to cover my team but this app supports right down to the League 2 and over to the Scottish Premier! Now this app is what I call a bargain lets hope they keep that price tag away from it because it certainly could have one on it!

This app is ace getting the latest scores from the premiership to leagues.The live part of this app is what i use the most it lets you see the score an the scocer, the only problem is that it is slow on updating the goings on in the match. There is one really big let down is that you cant see fixtures on upcoming matches. But having everything else its easy to over look. I would rate this app one of the top ones i have used an i would be keen even to pay for an up todate app.

For those who find it difficult to wait till Saturday comes when they can check all the ups and downs in real time, this app also gives you the rest of the week to catch up on transfers/reports/gossip/news for each of the top teams in England. This is the perfect example of how to wrap web data (well covered by the Beeb) into a simple, compact and user friendly package with lots of eye candy laid on to enjoy as well - notice how the header changes to each teams colour (worth checking out The Canaries woes just for that !!).
