It's Now An Eagle For iTouch 1st Generation Users By: Goobergrape28 - Apr 5, 2009 Version: 1.01 This was my original review: Why are iPod Touch 1st generation users left waiting in the clubhouse, so to speak? They should make this available for 1st generation users, just like CBS did for the March madness APP. In fact, CBS allows video for only Wi-Fi users, not 3G, which gets you audio only in the APP. It can't be that difficult to configure this APP for 1st generation iPod Touch users. Until it's offered that way, it's subpar. Updated: Thanks for changing the configuration to allow 1st generation iPod Touch users! Looking forward to Amen Corner and echoes of The Golden Bear!
Great By: Kerem koc - 13-Apr-2009 Version: 1.01 I don't believe that people upset with that app. Yeah there were no covarage for Canada, but this is still the best app that anyone has made. I enjoy the tournement in Tv and while i was watching i kept open to my app so I can follow all the scores and view of holes etc. It was great and I hope you guys make a golf app like that for all gpa tours. Thanks.
P.S. You can't make everyone happy right, especially Canadians. We always want more than we have even if it is free.
Pretty good app, minor suggestions By: Robert Ryan - Apr 10, 2009 Version: 1.01 I like this app (superior to the other Masters-specific app out there). A minor technical glitch: If you turn off your iPhone when viewing the landscape full leaderboard, and turn it back on, the app seems to be a little confused, presenting the portrait "Current Leaders" screen (instead of the landscape full leaderboard you were looking at before), but with the landscape title bar, and the app seems to be frozen. I have to hit my iPhone's physical "home" button and re-enter the app to have it resume proper function. Finally, I wish that the video screens would show us the length of (and progress within) the video, like most iPhone videos. It looks like when you watch a video (such as "Day 1 highlights"), you have a repeating loop of the video with no way of seeing your progress within the video. It would be a little more elegant to show the video once, with a progress bar like most videos, and if I want to watch it again, I can click on it again. Having said all of that, this is a great app. My thanks to the authors for a great submission. I'll undoubtedly be using it a lot during this year's Masters. Great job!
A Real Review? By: The_Anon - Apr 10, 2009 Version: 1.01 I guess I am a little fed up with the misleading reviews and perhaps biased ratings I have seen for the AT&T application and the IBM version of the Masters application. I think we need to share/highlight the best of both applications and focus on enjoying this fantastic event and giving accolades to both corporations for doing a fantastic job here. I know I have been using both of these applications every day on my iPhone since the event started. So, here is my intelligent review for the many users that appear not to have really checked the applications out in detail and prefer to write small sound bytes that don’t mean a lot. Both applications provide excellent value add to any customer for the cost (FREE) and I hope to see more applications of this excellent standard by both corporations. Each in their own right bring benefits that the other does not. The ATT version of the application has so much content compared to the IBM version it is untrue. I can read copious amounts of news and player bio information, watch historic video clips from as far back as 1975, video clips of the actual event, look at a multitude of photos from previous events. The statistics section of each player via the leader board is great. I can see event percentage of sand saves, green and fairway hits as well as the standard round score. The IBM version does not have this level of detail on its leader board. I saw one photo roll on ATT from April 13 2008 that had 50 photos in its roll. Sweet. The Nick Faldo winning shot is priceless in 1989. The ATT application also has the flyover holes that Masters has. Very cool on both sides. I like the dynamic refresh of the IBM leader board. However, I do not like clicking on something in the IBM application and not knowing if the application is doing something. The AT&T application always tells you if something is loading to fill in the spaces where behind the scenes the application is doing something. For the IBM application I sometimes get the clicking it twice or more to ask is the application going to do something syndrome on my 3G. ATT application navigation is extremely fast. I wonder how did they do it with an application that is less than half a meg compared to the IBM version that is 9 meg. Must be some neat code behind the scenes. The IBM version is really much more focused on live video streaming during the event. I love the fact I can watch a slightly delayed but non the less excellent video production where I can see the Masters activities day by day real-time. This is the one thing IBM has over the ATT application. But ATT has much, much more content available including videos outside of the live current event activities. So for those of us who have had a long day, perhaps have glimpsed at the live video on the IBM version during those boring meetings, eventually get home at 11pm at night, you can then switch over to the ATT version and review what happened that day by watching a video or looking up specific information about your favorite players you want to check up on from that day. Or maybe you just want to read some news at 1am in the morning. All in all, I rate both applications 5 stars and I also include this review on both applications. I highly recommend that all users take a close look at both applications and I personally will continue to take the value add from both applications for the rest of the event. Well done to all who created these applications. Excellent work.
If you can't get the app to work do not rate this poorly... By: Dom22 - Apr 10, 2009 Version: 1.01 ...it's not the apps fault you do not know how to fix minor issues in your phone settings. This app is amazing. I was so excited when I was searching for an app this morning so I could stay up to date on the leaderboard and get some extra news. I figured there was a specific app for The Masters that would give me more than Sportacular (which is also excellent!) and I was correct and found this. I was so excited for the LIVE stream from Amen Corner and hole 15 and 16. I got to see Tiger miss the Birdie on 16 while I was on the go! Not to mention I enjoyed watching the rest of the field including Player and Norman hit the corner. I wish more apps were like this one. More LIVE feeds for sports please!
The Masters -- enough said By: Rn2tradin - Apr 10, 2009 Version: 1.01 The best app ever. If I can't be around the tv or computer this is a life saver. The best sporting event ever, super bowl what? People who have given bad reviews have obviously gotten a glitch in their download. Works perfectly. Oh and for the ones that say it won't stream while on 3g, here is a little secret, ITS NOT THE APP ITS THE CRAPPY 3G SERVICE! Wifi streams good about 80% of the time. Other 20% isn't too bad though. It's sad that stupid people drag down the review ratings for a great app. Another person complained it's only for four days. Well hey dumb*** the MASTERS is only four days. But you idiot the app is free and you can use it next year. Just gets this app, unless you don't like golf and will just give it a bad review.
Amazing Polish and Content for a Free App By: EHoldsy - Apr 15, 2009 Version: 1.01 The Masters app was amazingly polished and robust with all the features I would ask for as a Masters and golf fanatic. I kept the streaming leaderboard up Thursday and Friday while at work and even watched Amen Corner coverage on the bus on the way to work. The streaming video was of great quality and not choppy with a strong 3G connection. I was compelled to review this great app considering what they delivered for free all without advertising.
LIVE Broadcast from 11,12,13,15,16 brilliant!!! By: Rusty Shakleford - Apr 9, 2009 Version: 1.01 I thought the MLB Live (RADIO) broadcast of every game was amazing. Until I bought this app and turned on the LIVE (VIDEO) broadcast of the Masters!!! I have been watching all morning (3+ hours) at work over 3g without a single glitch in the streaming! With this app you can watch and listen to the broadcasters from five beautiful holes in Augusta!!! Oh they also provide a really nice leaderboard and overview's of every hole on the course. Well worth the money (FREEEE)!!!!! I hope MLB, NCAA, NBA, NFL, NHL are watching and taking notes because this is absolutly how it is done with live streaming video.
Deserves Recognition By: Rift-1d - Apr 9, 2009 Version: 1.01 I rarely take the time to write review for apps, but I felt the Masters app needed a little bit of praise for creating one of the most polished sports apps in the itunes store today. From Live coverage of 5 Holes, including Amen Corner, which can be viewed in 3G instead of having to connect to wifi (and the videos are still crisp and clear with no lag), to a constantly updated Leaderboard, to descriptions of every hole with fly over videos of each, The Masters app does everything right. The video coverage is flawless, the graphics are beautiful, and the extras are plentiful. Oh by the way, it's free. If other sports apps were made like this I would definitely be willing to pay a hefty fee for such solid coverage. Any golf fan or fan of the Masters has to have this app.
Turn off wifi on your iPhone By: My AZ Opinion - Apr 12, 2009 Version: 1.01 This is a great app. I started using it Wednesday for the Par 3 contest and the problems I had were not with the app, but what wifi I was hooked up to. Saturday morning at McDonalds I was connected to their wifi and could get zero video, so I turned off wifi and it worked perfectly on 3g. People should wake up and find out that wifi is not perfect and it is not always faster. Great app for a great golf event!
This is going to be special By: Oudiveboy - Apr 7, 2009 Version: 1.01 Like thousands of others, I am eagerly anticipating the Masters. Every year the technology gets better (HD, then Directv Hole by Hole, and now live on my iPhone). I will be away from my TV a lot of this weekend and I can't tell you how excited I was to see this app. Right now the interface, graphics, and videos look great. if this is any indication of the quality to expect when the tournament starts, this will be my favorite app!!
This does work on 1st generation Touch By: KeVkr - Apr 6, 2009 Version: 1.01 Lots of comments about this app not working on 1st generation Touch but it works perfectly? Maybe people need to try the app before writing poor reviews! Very obvious that Per_GB reviewer and others are MobiTV developers who are jealous of far superior application that work on Edge and 3G. Give us a break guys as we have been waiting for live TV on the iPhone and now it is here. This is a cool application and no question it should get 5 star rating for simple fact is has live video over any network and it is Free!
Nice Compliment to my trip to Masters! By: Junbug11580 - Apr 3, 2009 Version: 1.01 Will be at the Augusta National for the second round. I will be able to keep up with the tournament anywhere with this app on those days I'm not there. We'll see how live video at Amen Corner fares once it goes live. Great course fly-over video. Would've been nice if there were more past Masters Highlight video to keep us tied over until next week. There is only one "Masters Memories" on Jack Nicklaus' 1986 win. (How about some Tiger or Arnold Palmer highlights?).
Good, but could use improvement By: USA-Scott - Apr 10, 2009 Version: 1.01 This app has a lot of great features, and best of all... live video of the tournament as it is happening. The video does look better when you change to "Wi-Fi" mode in the Settings area in the app. I am a little disappointed that the app only shows live video on five holes(11th, 12th, 13th, 15th, and 16th). I do not know why this app can not just show the whole course live, or at least include the 17th and 18th holes. I have experienced some bug problems with this app... probably not enough time to fix them in the next few days, so hopefully this app will be improved before next year's Masters.
Love it, but have a couple future additions By: Luke1robb - Apr 12, 2009 Version: 1.01 I love this app and the functionality it adds, but there are 23things I wish it had:
1) Live stream of more holes (like Amen corner and 15 & 16) or live tv stream. I realize this might not be currently possible.
2) More viewing options for the leaderboard. Other options could include view by pairings, by scores for today, by hole complete, etc.
3) Also, with the main leaderboard (vertical one), could you make that leaderboard at least 10 people longer. Its a very clean and vertical leaderboard, I just wish it was longer than 5-6 people.
Thanks for the app its great!
Incredible!!!!!!! By: BigZ65 - Apr 11, 2009 Version: 1.01 This app is so sweet!!! No problems whatsoever, hope every sports league can duplicate or better this app! :-)
Finally By: evilginipig - Apr 5, 2009 Version: 1.01 I was so mad at first when I first tried to download this app. Thanks for makeing this app work on 1st gen iPod
Great By: Ronoco - Apr 11, 2009 Version: 1.01 Love the live streaming
A 'must have' App By: Dr. Holt - Apr 5, 2009 Version: 1.01 Well done for a 1st release!
Brilliant, Tremendous, Awsome! By: oc az us - Apr 11, 2009 Version: 1.01 This I a great app! I'm loving it. I hope that the USGA and the PGA does something like this for the US Open and the PGA Championship.
Further more, we need something like this from the PGA Tour. I can't believe there's still no official PGA Tour app.
Now days video is a must. Let's hope that PGA Tour Tim Finchen is paying attention.
