Description:
*** AS FEATURED ON BBC NEWS 20th April *** *** Top 10 App, The London Paper *** "A must for Londoners." - London Evening Standard. Locals call it the 'Tube', you may know it as the 'Subway'; either way it doesn't matter, this is the most full featured application for getting around London, incorporating: • Tube Map (Landscape & Portrait) • Journey Planning, you'll never be lost or not know how to get somewhere the fastest way possible. • Departure Boards • Locate Nearest Stations, then plan a journey • Timetables (First, Now & Last) • Live Status Updates (including station closures & service messages) • Weekend Closures • Line status change notifications (New!) TUBE MAP TubeDeluxe includes the latest official map (portrait & landscape) of the Underground with an easy to use station finder. The map can be zoomed in & out using a pinching motion. Journey plans can be displayed on the map with interchanges clearly highlighted. Tap the "Move Next" button to animate and move the map through the journey plan from start, interchanges and finish. Double tap to remove the journey plan from the map. JOURNEY PLAN - You DO NOT need an internet connection to use. Use the "Plan" section to get the fastest routes (by time) with fewest interchanges in a matter of seconds. The journey planner will warn you if there are any problems on your best route. It recognises Waterloo & City closures (late nights & Sunday) and at these times will automatically suggest alternative routes. Other features of the journey planner: • View Itinerary • View Journey on Tube Map • From & To Stations are remembered • Journey Time, based on real times (transit & interchange), not a guess • Number of Interchanges This journey planner is the fastest & most sophisticated offline routing engine available in the App Store. There are no cumbersome settings to manage; it will quickly & reliably give you the best route every time. STATUS Up to the minute service details on all London Underground tube lines, DLR and Overground. Individual tube lines can be reordered so you can easily check for updates on your preferred lines. While underground you can view the last status update and service information you last received for quick reference in transit. DEPARTURE BOARDS All departure boards currently published by TFL are included in TubeDeluxe, you can save and reorder your favourites for quick and easy access. Departure boards refresh every 30 seconds or you can shake to update. Departure boards included: • Bakerloo (25 stations) • Central (49 stations) • Circle (43 stations) • District (57 stations) • Hammersmith & City (43 stations) • Jubilee (28 stations) • Metropolitan (36 stations) • Northern (50 stations) • Piccadilly (53 stations) • Victoria (16 stations) • Waterloo & City (2 stations) • DLR (39 stations) • River Services (18 piers) TubeDeluxe is the only app that includes departure boards for the Tube, DLR & River Services. LOCATE While exploring London use the locate section to quickly find your closest stations and the tube lines that service those stations. Located stations can be: • Displayed on the tube map & google maps • Used in journey planning (from & to) • Found by any address you enter • Used to view departure boards for that line & station (if available) TIMETABLES Tap any station in the map and select 'Timetables' to view first & last departure times or the schedule of trains departing in the next few hours (Now). Timetables can also be accessed from the Plan & Locate sections. An internet connection is required to use the Timetables feature. ONLINE HELP TubeDeluxe has complete online help & user guide (see About > Online Help), I throughly recommend taking 10 minutes to read this and you will get a lot out of this feature rich application.

Reviews:
Just works By: Ms Lau - 20-May-2009 Version: 3.1 After having used the free version of this for a while and finding it excellent, I bought the paid version and have been just as pleased. It's reliable and stable, and the paid version adds so many features. It's never crashed on me and it's never given inaccurate information, and I've used it a hell of a lot. For the cost of about twenty feet of travel on the tube there's no reason not to buy it, really!
Great App By: appuser500 - 17-May-2009 Version: 3.1 I haven't had any problems with this app. The route planner works perfectly and it gives which zones you are going through. It gives all the basic information you need and updated. I'm not sure what some the reviewers are doing wrong. I suggest they upgrade their software to 2.2.1 and free some memory using the app MemoryInfo. A nice feature to have in the future would be to show which direction you need to turn when you get off the train to interchange to your next train, because on some stations e.g. Kings Cross it's a trek from Piccadilly to circle line, when you are not familiar with the station. but great app.
Great potential but very buggy By: BNZ1 - 13-Aug-2009 Version: 4.0 Since the update this app crashes 4 out of 5 times that I open it and try to view the map. The support page link on the App store does not load. I did manage to track down the developers twitter account which recommended removing and reinstalling the app - no change. It has the characteristics of a severe memory leak. I would greatly appreciate it if the developer could fix the support page so we can get some feedback. Other than that, the push notifications work great it is just the map that is unusable.
Fantastic, Evolving Application By: alexmuller - 13-May-2009 Version: 3.1 Tube Deluxe is a great application - it's priced right, works well and, the most important thing for me (which I reckon is often overlooked) is that it's constantly being upgraded, changed, evolved and developed - so even after paying the initial price, the value of the app increases. It does have its flaws (the map still chokes my phone a bit, it's perhaps too high resolution), but overall it's a brilliant, safe purchase.
Great By: Awheewall - 12-Aug-2009 Version: 4.0 Install the free version that just does the status and you will be convinced it buy the deluxe version the get the map. I wouldn't mind the planned closures somehow worked in to either the status page or even better the map like on tfl website. But I am not sure if this is really feasable. I even paid the full £1.79 for this, back in v1 and wasn't at all bothered then the price went down. Best app on the store for London dwellers. Nice one Malcolm.
Update v2.0. This app just gets better. Loving the new features.
Update v3. Wow an offline journey planner. You have to do a full off and on power cyle of your iPhone after installing this update otherwise it appears buggy. It's not though.
Update v4. Cool push notifications. This is the first push app I've seen. Works like a treat. I think this app must be feature complete now. It's amazing. Just shows how overpriced. The National Rail app is.
Make sure if you're upgrading that you delete your old version first and then download the app a fresh from the app store. Then do a full off and on power cycle of your iPhone. Otherwise this app will crash and you'll think it doesn't work properly. I don't know why this app doesn't tell you this on first load. Anyway, follow those instructions and this app runs like a dream. The sister app London Bus is brilliant to. Shane this developer wasn't contracted to do the National Rail app too.
Aaaaargh ! - fixed !! By: Bdaggers - 11-Aug-2009 Version: 4.0 Don't upgrade people, latest version continually crashes. Please fix this ASAP - this is a damn near essential App for me and many others, not the same as a game not loading ! Will replace to its deserved 5 star rating once it's fixed.
Update :
I emailed the developer - all you need to do is delete and reinstall the app. Then do a full power off and restart - hey presto it works again.
Wish this had been mentioned at some point, but kudos for the quick response. Back to five stars from me
: )
THE London tube app! By: DarkFire1515 - 10-Aug-2009 Version: 4.0 UPDATE:
Now comes with weekend closure information and now, even better, push status notifications for every tube line! The notifications are customizable for times & lines so you get the information you want, when you need it. Seriously, this app is so packed with features I'd happily have paid double. Mr. Barclay ought to be congratulated- all other London tube apps are now absolutely obsolete. Unhesitatingly recommended
The only thing that I'd like to see added are push notifications to let you know when a delayed or closed line returns to normal working order.
What can I say? Packed with features, easy and intuitive to use, this app is great not only for planning your tube journey but also for keeping informed about line status and even live departures for some lines!
When TFL get round to publishing departure data for all the tube lines this app will be nigh-on perfect. As it is it's extremely useful. Can't recommend this too highly. Keep up the great work!
Simply superb By: ChrisPowell1970 - 10-Aug-2009 Version: 4.0 Finally this app has its rightful place as being the most popular app for London Tube. Well done!
This is a very elegant application. In an app like this you want information on tube status rapid and a quick access tube map. All one handed on the move controls. A must for any Londoner. This developer also regularly releases great upgrades for free, fantastic.
Also check out his other app for Londoners, London Bus.
Excellent By: Stan2515 - 25-Apr-2009 Version: 3.1 Updated review: New update is very good. Landscape mode could still show more and pinch to zoom could be smoother/work a bit better, is this to do with the maps resolution and not being able to zoom out clearly enough?? Central line on departure boards now too - this developer really listens! Also I think opening on tube status is better as it's the one thing I want to check in a rush and not faff with more screen taps especially if I'm walking. How about user settings to keep everyone happy??! Only one minor minor gripe - I'm not a fan of the apps icon, the free version looks better to me and a certain other dodgy app has the proper underground logo, which I like but suspect is a breach of copyright... Great app still! Also why is this app currently no. 20 in the top 25 and yet another app with far worse reviews is no. 10???
Simply THE best Tube app. By: Go-Gator - 09-Aug-2009 Version: 4.0 I have been using this app for at least 5 months and decided to write a review ad I am so impressed by this app. Very intuitive, informative and user-friendly interface. App provides up-to-date info. Now with the addition of push notifications for delays this app raises the bar for similar but highly over-priced apps that don't even provide a quarter of the functionality of this app. I would even go as far as to say that this is an under-priced app for sheer functionality and usability. I evev use the Bus app by the same developer and it is equally brilliant. All in all a 5 star app for 59p. Well done developer and hope to see equally top-notch quality apps from you in the future.

Amazing By: Dannyspeed - 19-Apr-2009 Version: 3.1 I downloaded this app yesterday before Going on my travels for an evening out. I was simply blown away with how good this app was. I very rarely use the tube but this is a must even if you use it once a month.
This app tells you when the next train is coming, and I found it very accurate.
I got on one of the last metropolitan line trains from moorgate to Harrow on the hill. My final destination needed to be Pinner. But not knowing if there would be a train leaving harrow for Pinner. I started this app up mid joirney and it told me what was the remaining trains leaving Harrow. The final train was heading to uxbridge. So I planned to use this train to rayners lane and taxi the final part of the journey. Without this app I probably still be traveling home ha ha.
Well worth the £0.59
9/10 for navigating London's sprawl... By: Carlos Ricci - 05-Aug-2009 Version: 3.2 This app has carved TIME off my journeys into around the Smog. As I go to university in London, we sometimes have lectures and talks off campus at places I've never even heard of... Not to mention any rendevous at underground clubs in the evening to check the lastest Dub-Step, art and films out. And it never fails to get me where in need to go with the nearest Tube Station...
Plus with delays, works info, station closurers, etc... all covered in real time, it allows one to plan for and circumnavigate around any issue to get to where you need to go on time.
Only a 9/10 because it doesn't work on all Underground Stations... Would be really handy if this worked Underground on all Tube Station through Wi-Fi connection. A suggestion for London Underground to get on the case!!!
Simply wonderful By: A_D - 12-Apr-2009 Version: 3.0 Updated review for 3.1: Time-tables, expanded departure boards and improved routing are all most welcome and well implemented. TubeDeluxe is now clearly the best application of its kind - both in functionality and ease of use. One of my top 3 apps. Simply indispensable if you get the London Underground. It is well thought out, quick, easy to use and doesn't crash - NOTE TO THOSE WITH JAILBROKEN PHONES - How many times do you need to be told that route planning does not work on your hacked phones? Very friendly developer responds to queries quickly and adds features on a regular basis. Departure board implementation is the killer feature of this application. TFL have (still) not seen fit to provide those of us on the Piccadilly line with electronic departure boards so this is the easiest way to find out when your next train is due.
Invaluable By: ronnythefiddle - 20-Jul-2009 Version: 3.2 I use this app every day to check my journey to work. I can't recommend this app highly enough, it's simply must-have for anyone living in or visiting London.
The live train info is very useful for deciding whether or not to leg it for a train or buy a coffee & paper first!!
And at 59p it's a bargain. Also try London Bus made by the same developer for a TFL journey planner style app covering all of London's public transport.
The best as of 04/09 By: Codeye Dave - 01-Apr-2009 Version: 3.0 This is the best tube app I've tried, and I've tried every one I can find on the App store. It's quick and has just about every feature on it you could want; I've already been saved a few times with Status/Locate. The only minor problem I can find is that in landscape view the map doesn't remember the last area viewed or zoom level as it does with portrait view, but obviously this is a very minor issue. Great app!
Best of the bunch. By: Ray vonn - 27-Mar-2009 Version: 3.0 Updated to 5 stars for excellent update.
I've tried a few of these tube apps and this is head and shoulders above the rest. The 'locate' function is great. It found several stations around my new job (when my lift home didn't turn up)and gave me distances to them before showing them in Google maps.
Fast clear map (looking forward to landscape mode).
Bought this after the heavy snows and its updating tube-line info has proved very helpful. 4 stars (will upgrade 5 for promised updates)
Absolutely fantastic app and incredibly useful to the commuter By: Antony Leather - 03-Jul-2009 Version: 3.2 Even if you know the tube like the back of your hand, there are many stations that don't have live departure boards. These are now available on the TFL website but London Tube Deluxe grabs the data and displays it all in an instant. You can see where your train is and how long it will take to get to your station and this works even way out of town. It enables you to make quick and informed decisions to get home quicker. But that's not all, it has a superb map and route planning facility and also has a full list of tube line status reports so you can see at a glance if there are issues. In addition you can use the GPS to locate nearest stations. In short it has everything you need to make your tube journey that little bit easier and knowing when your train is going to arrive is a godsend for those of us who's stations don't have live depature boards (as we all know how punctual the tube can be...) Fantastic app and worth £5, never mind 59p! Bargain!
Great By: CBI 84 - 02-Jul-2009 Version: 3.2 Just a couple of suggestions; could we get a decent zoom and scale version of the tube map rather than the fading effect, it just feels a bit sluggish to use and I avoid it mostly because of this.
Also when using the journey planner it would be nice to highlight the route on the map maybe in a flashing or glow form so that you could follow the route exactly rather than having to look around the map to see wherw the rings are if you are unfamilar where your destination is.
Another good feature would be to push "planned engineering works" so that we could know in advance I know that the tfl sends out emails a few days before to notify passengers, that would be a nice addition to the app. It might be good to allow this info to be stored offline somehow so that a Internet conncetion is not needed constantly to view the info again.
This isn't a dig at the application because it is a five star app without a doubt, I would just love if these features could be implemented in future updates.
Thank you for all your hard work!!
Well worth the 59p By: Seifbs - 20-Mar-2009 Version: 3.0 I was an avid user of the free app, and today I bit the bullet and upgraded; simply the best 'chewing gum' money I've spent in a while ...this is several orders of magnitude better than the free app, ESP the map which is viewable in landscape mode. Tinkering around I found that I could search for a station, and click it on the map toplan my to/from journey right there!
Mr Barclay, it is developers like you that make the iPhone smartphone ecosystem the best. Well done !
Fantastic little app for any London commuter By: Wozwozza - 30-Jun-2009 Version: 3.2 If you commute in London you must get this application. In one day this app has earnt its money back for me. The ability to see the tube departure boards is fantastic, especially as you can make them favourites. For example, this morning, arrive by train at Liverpool Street, check Central line see 1 tube in 1 min, next one in 6 mins! Uh oh.. that means it going to be packed... so i take the tube via Hammersmith & city/circle line to Farringdon instead... probably the same journey time, but saved myself the stress and cramped jouney on the central line. Same again on the way home, could see there were problems on the central line, checked the departures ate Chancery lane, 7 minute gap between tubes! so again, i take a different route. 10/10 money well spent.
