Just a thought... It may have been mentioned before but it would be great if it could include a tube map... For example if the phone was rotated horizontally it would bring up the underground map - it would only be useful if it does not need to be connected to the Internet. I know there are issues of copyright etc however this could be got around especially as this at the moment is a non commercial venture. Good luck

This app doesn't do very much, but it does just what I'd wanted.
It simply shows each of the colour coded Tube Lines and a symbol adjacent to each with that line's current service status. Tapping a line's entry takes you to detailed information about that line. The information comes live (or as recent as is available) from Transport For London themselves. The text is large and easy to read and all in all it's just right.

Approaching Waterloo this morning I was standing beside the train guard who was making an announcement of "no reported problems on the London Underground this morning". I flipped on my iPhone and TubeStatus told me of "Severe delays on the Bakerloo Line" so I showed the guard the screen and he immediately picked up the microphone again and said "I'm sorry, a passenger has just updated me and there are severe delays on the Bakerloo Line". Of course, TubeStatus was right!
An excellent and very useful application.

As a frequent tube user, its quite obvious to understand the need for a program like this. Upon loading this app it takes the user immediatley to an overall status page, where each tube line is represented with its appropriate colour and name. The initial page is formatted clearly and gives you straight to the point information as you would expect from the tfl website. Upon clicking on a selected line it gives the user a more in depth status of the line. This is a very useful and aesthetically pleasing app which I am more than happy to have on my iphone, job well done to Malcolm Barclay! Thanks alot. :)

Back to 5-stars - an excellent little application

I have used this application on a daily basis since it first was released and has been the most used application on my iPhone. Version 1.2 was excellent and deserved 5 stars. Unfortunately, version 2.0 no longer works. After updating to the new version the tube status was found just one time, now it always says it cannot connect and it never updates.
Three things need to be done to make this a useful application again:
1. Provide an update button to force it to do an update.
2. Provide a visual indication that it is actually updating.
3. Provide an indication on the main screen when the last update was done.
I've reverted back to version 1.2 in the mean time. I'll come an re-write this review if and when the application is useful again.
ADDITIONAL. It's back to 5-stars as the suggestions I made above have all been incorporated into the latest release. This is excellent.

Just what you need if you use the underground!

Fast and gives you the information you need with ease! I used to have a bookmark to TFL's live status webpage on my springboard, but annooyingly it never stays centered where I want it on the page after it refreshes it in safari. But this solves the problem. It's quick, it shows a summary of all lines just like the live status webpage does, you can click on one of the lines for the extra detail if you want so you can see exactly where a problem is on the line.
What would be nice is that you could change the order of the list of lines so you can put the one you use most commonly at the top oif the list. Another nice feature would be if you could click on lines that are part suspended and it shows you the tube map highlighting the area affected (like the website does). Even those it would be nice if these could be added, it still gets a 4 star ranking (4.5 if ITunes would let you, but unfortunatly not :P). Great app, thanks a lot for developing this great free app

I used to rely on the TfL website for checking the status of the tube, but it was unbearably slow. This app fires up quickly and retrieves the latest information quickly, even if there's no Edge or 3G connection available. The data appears to be bang up-to-date with that available on TfL's own website.
About the only thing I'd like to see is the ability to move the order of the lines around to put my most-used lines at the top.

TubeStatus does exactly what it's name suggests- it shows the user the latest status of all the London underground tube lines (and now also the DLR + Overground). So many other apps are trying to achieve a simple concept but fall down on poor usability and on a poor UI. This app does not make these mistakes. Go download this app! One additional feature I would like is the ability to force update with a simple shake, much like the facebook app. At times it does not update and leaves stale data.

I have to say that this app is simply one of the best on the store.
Well thought out - it is simple yet effective.
Couple things for later version would be great
- as many have said, add the DLR and other lines
- Access to the tube mape would be great (although I am sure there are copyright issues with this)
- provide a refresh button. I seam to leave the app active and then have to exit and re-open
- provide a sort option or the ability to change to order of the lines - that would mean i could put my favourite (Central if you want to know) at the top.
- maybe pushing it would be to have a status page on stations.....select your stations from an options page and display the status on them (not sure if this is easy to extract from TFL)

I've been using an almost identical web app since last year, and this one works just as well. Perhaps a little optimization is required to make acquisition of the feed robust and more speedy. Otherwise, simple yet great! An essential tool for using the national embarrassment that is London tube. I've read that its weekend closures and other delights will continue until at least 2014! God help us! [well, god doesn't, but this little app definitely does!]

Having been offered the update I was surprised it was not compatible with my iTouch. However found out that it does not work with os 2.2.0. I also have London City Tube by Visual IT but this opens on a general screen and not the Live Information Screen. For me Tube Status is therefore more useful as well as being free.

Thanks for the app. Use it every day before heading for the tube and it saves a lot of time and stress. A brilliant addition would be to get alternative routes when lines are out of action. E.g. Store my normal route - recognise when a line has problems and tell me where to go. Thanks again.
