Have been wanting to test out one of LB's electronic guidebooks.. Have been playing with this and its definitely worth having something as concise as this - albeit the only barrier to it is the pricing structure. As an ebook/app, it's original price is $15.99 but I think it should not cost nearly the same as the actually physical bool (MRSP @ $18.99) - although some value as been added with the convenience through linking the app to the phone etc.
Being a little sentimental, I still like making my own notes in the margins of my travel guides.. so would look for something that included both the app and book done through say a "gift voucher" for the online store?
As expected from an iPhone app, one click on address and tel numbers activates the "i" in iphone. Although as a non-US user, it would be clever if somehow the app would add the additional international dialing codes (001/010 or +1 etc).
As a freebie, 5* even with the issues about dialing. At the full price, 3* from me.
Last point - I did have a lot of trouble installing this with 0.5Gb of free space. Would hang at about 2/3 of the way through. After my 3rd attempt, I would recommend just leaving it for 45mins before freaking out and rebooting both phone and computer.

Going to San fran in June ,looking at this app made me feel safe knowing that I could just sit at a cafe and plan my next move, where to go and where to avoid.the future of city breaks,and it's free.

Very fun app to explore a city with. It plots your location and tells you all the cool stuff around you. They give you pretty much the whole book, beautiful photos, tons of reviews, phone numbers, websites - it's great!

This app is a handy tool to have, I no longer have to carry any tour guides or books. I love San Francisco, this app has some information about the city I never knew about. GET IT WHILE ITS FREE!

Managed to pull this app down for free because of the wwdc offer! I really can't say anything bad about that deal! I hope LP does this sort of limited free download for other cities. Can I get a free NYC lonely planet guide next? :D

I got this the day before I'm about to leave for San Francisco. I would have willingly paid for it. The map & nearby features are perfect for anyone exploring the city. It's missing a few hotels and restaurants, though, especially south of Market.

This app is awesome. It comes with a phrasebook and city map (worth about $30) and it also offers discounted prices on future purposes. It's perfect if you plan on buying city guides and phrasebooks from lonely planet. Great work guys

This is a great app, so much travel information available via in-app purchase. The maps are what really make this app unique, the Lonely Planet reviewed places are plotted in each city so you can see what's around you - cool!

I have never been to San Francisco so for right now, the application looks great! I look forward to using it and after the trip, I will either upgrade, down grade or elaborate. I think it is great to have this for us novice Frisco visitors
