Description:
MetrO helps you find your way in the public transportation in more than 400 cities around the world. One application for all your trips: download the cities you need and search your route by subway, bus, tram, railway... (depending on cities). NO network connection is required after you have installed the cities. Find the best route from your current location and check the map of the surroundings from within the program (in main cities). Transportation networks evolve frequently, so does MetrO! We provide monthly updates, including the latest changes. For a few cities, you even have access to data taking into account temporary disruptions, monitored day to day. MetrO is offered for free by Kinevia (i.e. Patrice & Frank), the expert in public transportation navigation on mobile devices since 1999! Don't forget that MetrO is the result of a collective effort: our data can be kept up to date only with your help! Note: this first release still has a few shortcomings and various improvements are planned. Watch for updates!

Reviews:
At last, the best public transit route planner comes to the iPhone/Touch By: PDC Larry - Aug 9, 2009 Version: 0.9.1 MetrO is simply the best route planner for any device. 200 city transit systems, many languages (currently only 2 for the iPhone/Touch, but more coming), Location Awareness. And it's free. I've been using MetrO on my Palms for as long as I've had a Palm. Now on the iPhone, and better than even the Palm version. Specifically, network maps are updated on an almost daily basis (over the net) so the program is aware of temporary disruptions and rerouting without having to install updates. Note also that many of the city "networks" are maintained by volunteers, so if your city isn't covered contact the authors and volunteer to compile the necessary data to add it. Interesting that there are a number of negative ratings, with no reviews. I can't imagine the thinking behind them, unless it is authors of competing, less powerful route planners trying to boost their own ratings. Merci to Patrice, Frank, and all of the contributors to MetrO's extensive databases.
Killer app 4 iphone By: JSL! - Aug 2, 2009 Version: 0.9.1 One of the great handheld apps. I used this app to show off hand held devices when I first bought a palm III. How these guys keep giving it away (donate!!!) is amazing, but I thank them weekly for it. This should be the #1 iphone/ handheld app around the world. Every time I am wacked in a foreign city I thank the gods of all that is good for Metro. Thank you guys you are Loius XIII of the app world. JUST GET THIS APP.!!!.
Used it on palm, windows mobile, now on iPhone By: Mikegoldenapple - Jul 31, 2009 Version: 0.9.1 The best and most useful full featured easy to use FREE transport app for the iPhone. Thanks to the developers.
Calculate your route in seconds from point A to B under any transport City system around the world. It shows journey time and shortest route with least changes too.
Just add the Cities you want and will use. Also useful points of interest in the app.
Works without data/wifi so you can access it sitting on a train in a tunnel where there's no reception.
All round BRILLIANT. 5 stars for this app.
Metro ROcks By: ZogJones - Jul 28, 2009 Version: 0.9.1 Just to clarify. The App is called METRO. Not "every single bus line in the world". That being said it does have several night bus lines, and shuttle buses. When you select a major metro area...you get the major metro area, with all connected trains in that metro area. In other words San Francisco gives you BART, Muni, Caltrain, VTA lightrail....you get the idea. Even ferries in some cities. I have used this app around the world, and it just continues to get better. It has saved my bacon more times than I can count. Many thanks to the authors for this wicked cool app getting ported to iPhone. Not sure why the negatives ratings with no reviews. Ignore them. Its a free app. If you travel for fun, you should get this app. If you travel for work...you NEED this app.
Now for the iPhone--wonderful! By: Brenden777 - Jul 26, 2009 Version: 0.9.1 I have used this app since 1999 on my Palm. In fact, I kept my old Palm Edge just to use this app. The iPhone version is, of course, even better. I went anywhere I wanted in Tokyo, Paris and London without any fuss or hassle--it was like I knew the metro (and sometimes bus!) systems like the back of my hand; I felt like a native. Perfection. Now I can travel with only one device--my iPhone; my fanny pack is gone forever.
EEEXXXCCCEEELLLEENNTTT!!!! By: Jsafford - Jul 24, 2009 Version: 0.9.0 I've been waiting for this to get transferred over from the Palm OS. This app is THE best Subway/Metro app on the market! It has practically every city you'd ever go to, and it makes you feel like a pro navigating all the different transportation networks of the world. I felt naked NOT having this app when I switched from the Palm to the iPhone. I wish i had it when I was in Barcelona recently. It's packed full of tonns of useful info on transportation networks and tourist attractions. Best of all... It's FREE!!!!! I can't recommend this app enough!!!!!!
Brilliant Application By: Vagrant.us - Jul 18, 2009 Version: 0.9.0 Why is it so great - You can use it offline. Download the city/cities you need and you're good to go. No need to worry about data access if you disable it, or don't have a data plan when traveling. Don't forget your passport and don't forget MetrO. While this works fantastically on my 3GS, I've used past versions as well with the Palm OS and Windows Mobile starting back in 2002. I've used it in Paris, London, Tokyo, San Francisco etc. Ease of use is great and helps me move about like a native. While I find hard to get lost in a large city, if you do wander about, just punch in the station you're at and where you want to go. Landmarks and special interest locations are sometimes included in the cities, as well as bus routes. A big thanks to the developers and all those that contribute for each cities data.
Finally and Fantastic! By: Chase76 - Jul 14, 2009 Version: 0.9.0 This is a FANTASTIC app for those who travel regularly and tend to use public transportation. I began using MetrO 5 years ago when I had a Palm Treo. I have held onto my Palm Treo all these years (even without service) just to use this app. I have been following the progress of MetrO from the beginning and I am thrilled that it has finally hit the App store. Run, do not walk, and get this free fantastic app. This app would be great at a few dollars or more and it's even more amazing at free! Everyone who grabs this should remember it's always nice to donate to developers that put out quality products for free.
metrO for my iPhone! By: Alexxx Ingente - Jul 13, 2009 Version: 0.9.0 I used to have metrO in my O2 XDA II back home in the Philippines. It is one of my favorite application, perfect application at no cost at all. I can use it now in commuting to Boston and use it in my future travels here in the US. Good thing, I suscribed to the metrO yahoo group for updates. Thank you so much to the creators of this wonderful program as well as to contributors! MABUHAY to Everyone. . . . . . . . . . . .

At last MetrO for iPhone By: TSD04 - Jul 12, 2009 Version: 0.9.0 I have waited anxiously for Patrice to complete his development effort to enable MetrO's use on iPhone. And finally.....thank you Patrice.....that time has come. MetrO is one of those applications that once utilized becomes indespensible. I held onto my old trek 650 much longer than I otherwise would have because I did not want to lose access to MetrO. You will not find another more functional and capabile transport app. The fact that it is offerred for free is amazing. Patrice a paypal donation is headed your way. THANKS AGAIN!
Finally a ubiquitous Metro App By: erayl - Jul 12, 2009 Version: 0.9.0 I've used this application on a Palm Pilot to travel the world for over ten years. When I moved to the iPhone, I missed this app more than any other because I could not find an adequate replacement. Well it's here now and is more convenient than ever! Any of the 400 cities can be downloaded in real time, and it can locate the nearest station to you for geographically supported metro systems. This is a must have app for the traveler.

Flawless port of the Palm app By: kaszeta - Jul 12, 2009 Version: 0.9.0 Straightforward port of the Palm app. Excellent public transit planner, since unlike oh-so-many other apps, it has several decent features: 1. It caches data, so you don't need a Wifi or 3G connection to plan your travel, 2. It has data for just about every public transit system out there, and 3. It's free My only requests? 1. Could they get the London *day* buses integrated into the London schedule? The buses are often a faster solution than the Tube and trains. 2. Actual route maps would be good, 3. Integration with the maps application. But an outstandingly good initial iPhone app
Simply the best By: Metro NYC - Jul 12, 2009 Version: 0.9.0 This Metro App is simply the best application/guild for any rapid transit commuter. I have previously used it on the Palm, after a much anticipation...it is finally available for the iPhone, and for FREE as always.
This app is very user friendly and the interface makes it very remarkable, the learning curve with the app on an apple device is about 10 secs. if even that much is needed.
The developers have work long and hard at bringing this powerful app over to the Apple brand. There time, commitment, and dedication truly shows in this product. That is why, even though it is FREE, I do not mind giving a donaton to their cause.
Thank you guys for a brilliant app!

Excellent Port By: DIGITALgimpus - Jul 12, 2009 Version: 0.9.0 I was a MetrO user when I had a Palm for many years. It's the only app that thus far I haven't found an iPhone equivilent. They have finally ported it over. It feels like an iPhone application but still retains the useful features of the Palm version. If you live or work in a city, or travel this is an essential application. It makes life so much easier to just enter your location and where you want to go and get a list of your travel options. At this price (free) you get way more than you paid for.
FINALLY!!!! It's Here and Fantastic! By: Angelyon - Jul 12, 2009 Version: 0.9.0 Along with Documents To Go, MetrO is FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY made it's way to the iPhone. A huge huge thunderous applause and surge of gratitude to the makes of MetrO. I've been following their blog and understand their initial balking at porting over MetrO to the iPhone. But with the encouragement of literally thousands of patrons and MetrO fans front all over they buckled down and delivered. I honestly can now consider my transition from my last smartphone to the iPhone complete with this app. I have used MetrO for years and it has come in handy numerous times in different cities, from San Francisco to Paris. Up until now I was literally lost without it! Eeek! Thank you Patrice and Frank for listening to your patrons and coming out with an iPhone version. You have won your friends over a thousandfold. Support them by going to their website!
