Great app for the vacationer. When in an unfamilar place you can see what is available, where it is located, how much it costs, and how other people rated the food, service, etc. Please get this app and give back to the hungry by rating the places you eat. Only you can help the screaming children at the adjacent table whose parents did not screen their dining choices with Urban Spoon. Please help the children!

This app is very amazing and has made it very fun for my girlfriend and I to decide on places to eat no matter where we are. Urbanspoon is doing a great hop now of getting out of just working in bigger cities and has set up all of the resteraunts in my po-dunk town and its surrounding area. The review options are amazing! You can write the review straight from your iPhone or just simply rate it if you liked it or not. Wonderful app!!! Keep it going and get it now!!!

One of my favorite apps of all time! A must for anyone that is tired of eating out at the same ole' places. I discovered a whole neighborhood of good resturants that is closer to my home than my usual places. It's a blast to shake the phone and see what comes up. I'm completely entertained...and eating much better than I was before. Who knew there was a sushi place right around the corner!? Best app yet!

This app is REALLY great.
You select your city, and it finds all eaterys within the area.
If youre low on gas, you can lock in your criteria to only search eaterys within your town.
Low on cash? No problem. Just lock in one or two cash symbols to find low-cash eaterys.
Craving chinese? Lock in chinese.
This app is extremely helpful and its helped me many times, and Im sure it will help you too.

Seems to work quite well for me. Granted that I'm on an iPhone and have data wherever I go. For my girlfriend's iPod Touch, she plans an outing from home, and then we just write down the directions. I love the ability to pull in local info, and edit the DB. Just needs some more participation. Rather than emphasize the "Friend" network aspect, users should be encouraged to update the listings as they see them. 4/5 for ease of use and features, but follow through is lacking.

Unlike Local Eats, the other similar app I paid for and found had no restaurants anywhere near me (so much for "local!"), and had odd, limited reviews, this one has lots of restaurants in my area (Clear Lake & Galveston County, southeast of Houston), including ones I've never heard of but sound interesting. And for some reason, the casino-style selection process is so much fun, it makes you want to play with it just for kicks. Great job--thank you!

If you have a 3gs this app is just wow with the addition of AR (note: only works with 3gs because of the compass). For those who don't know what this is, it uses you camera and pulls the picture up on the screen and lays little makes where restaurnts are and this is by far the best one because it has the most complete list I've seen from a number of apps, also you can manually fine tune you location by draging the little blue dot that says where u are to help get better results

I've found this app to be 1st class and it works everytime! It does count on users to update it with reviews etc to help others, I live in Huddersfield and tend to eat here along with Leeds, Bradford and Manchester and have found lots of the restaurants on the app to "like" or "not like". But I've also added 4 missing restaurants which were reviewed by the urban spoon team and added to the app within about 8 hours. It's useful, it's free, and the more active users the better it will become!

I was reading some of these reviews and I couldn't believe some poeple would give this app a 1star??? Seriously folks before you rate an item you should consider what it promised to deliver. Sorry just mad about these jacked up ratings because they affect my decision as to whether or not to buy it.
The application works flawlessly in my city. I live in Columbia and just moved from San Antonio and it works for over there too. Every place I've dined at is listed from $ to $$$$. I love how you can shake the phone and it finds a restaurant for you and you can lock in place, type of food, and price and it'll select a restaurant and you can read about it, the reviews, and then decide if you want to eat there.
Before I bought this app I had Yelp! And Yelp! needs a lot of updating because it doesn't have almost any restaurants when compared to this app. I am going to try out maybe one more app because like I said this only works in cities and I'd like to leave some reviews for my fav places back home in our little town that didn't make urbanspoon list!
Bottom line if the city you live in is listed you will be doing yourself a huge favor by getting this app!

This app is perfect for someone who resides in a large city, with too many places to pick from..For those people that only get restaurants in neighboring towns, it's probably because you're in a small town & the restaurants in your area are numbered- meaning this app cannot be expected to serve every area.Btw I love the random aspect of it.. I just ordered from a place that no way I would've learned of without urban spoon.

Urban Spoon has taken me and my girlfriend to so many great restaurants that are off the main road. We would never have found these smaller non-chain diamonds in the rough without US and the iPhone's gps and google maps integration. It really lowered the barrier of entry to trying new places, and the reviews have been helpful in vetting out the bad ones. There are a lot of appps that recommend restaurants, and US is among the best.

Simply dynamite, after these last couple of updates. I didn't realize how completely it had replaced my other restaurant-review and restaurant-locating apps until I noticed them recently while reorganizing my iPhone. "why is that there?" I wondered... had been so long since I'd used it. Out went the other apps... And I'm using UrbanSpoon on my laptop now too, it's so helpful. One of VERY few iPhone apps that have a web version I find equally excellent.Now if only I could afford to eat out more often...

I am an incredibly indecisive person. "what do you want to eat?" I don't know...what do you feel like? "whatever you want." Jesus that gets old! A neverending conversation between my girlfriend and I. We used this application this weekend, freaking perfect! Ended up going somewhere new and it was great. I really like being able to read reviews, rating, and average price. I found my area (Portland, OR) to have lots of restaurant choices.

We were on vacation recently. Used this app almost everyday to find restaurants near where we were staying on the east coast of FL. Gave many good old standards- i.e.Darden types come to mind, but also many great local hangouts. We liked that you can lock in locations, type of cuisines and/or price ranges. Good to help narrow down the choices. This is a great app for those who travel or if you are just tired of the same old "what's for dinner?". It's also helpful that is lists the website/menus (if available) and can get you directions via maps fairly easily.

Look, I am a smart adult, so listen:This is a must have app! I have looked at this app, driven to the resturant, and ate, and this thing never wronged me!If you choose shake, where it randomlychooses, you can lock your town so it's near, lock the kind of food, like hot dogs or donuts, and also lock the price! For that your choices are $, $$, $$$, or $$$$. I would pay $10 for this app! Worth 10 stars!!!

I downloaded this App when it was first available as I thought it was a fantastic concept. However it didn't work at all where I lived. So what did I do, well rather than complaining like a little girl and deleting it in a huff I emailed the creator requested that the city I live in was added and sure enough after a couple of updates it was there. It now works great and contains many restaurants near me. After all patience is a virtue. Keep up the good work.

------update------- Update seems to have done little than add a browse feature. Shake should more appropriately be called Whip or Crash because of the force required to move the wheels. ------original------- I find this app very useful to suggest places, then I use Yelp to read more detailed reviews on which dishes to pick/stay away from. Suggestions: 1) Allow users to write reviews or integrate with Yelp. 2) Adjust the "shake" sensitivity so that you don't have to swing it like a bat. 3) Allow a list feature so users can we just how comprehiensive the list is and perhaps allow users to make their own suggested restaurants.

We love this app for its ability to introduce us to new cafes and restaurants (the 'shake' came up with Tiger Mottle on Sunday and it was a fantastic find). We like being able to review (and tell people about) our favourite places, and to take photos and add them to the listing. The Google map function is brilliant, the quick link to the restaurant's website is often very handy, and the browse/search function is fantastic. We use this app all the time, as we tend to eat out a lot.
