Description:
Technical Note: If this App (or any other App) crashes when loading, reboot your iPhone/iPod Touch to fix it. We are very proud to announce the release of a2z Pro. The sequel to a2z Convert. a2z Pro is a community driven units converter. The new a2z Pro allows you to add your own categories for units that are not already included in the application. What's more, is that once you have created that category, you add the units (and their relevant conversion formulas) and then you can upload it to our server. That way, fellow a2z Pro users can browse the online catalog of categories and download a conversion category that is of use to them. The process of creating your own category is straight forward, but you will need knowledge about that category in order to make it accurate and worthy of sharing. We will of course check all units uploaded to our server and approve them before making them available for others to download. To make things more interesting, we've included an icon set of 240 Apple friendly icons to choose from for your own category. Your name will be added to the category and you will be able to see how many people have downloaded it and benefited from your contribution.

Great App and impressive support! By: Normwood - Sep 8, 2008 Version: 2.0 Downloaded this on 9/6/08. Great App and super support. E-mailed developer this morning (Sunday) to ask how to add a specific unit that wasn't in the database that I use all the time. I had tried to do it on my own but couldn't figure it out. Developer responded within an hour with step-by-step instructions on how to add the unit and included the conversion factors that I needed to use. Very impressed!
6 stars By: Macamask - 01-Dec-2008 Version: 2.0 This is simply excellent! Best converter I've seen, better than the one on my HP PDA and Nokia E65 by a long shot.
Even if you don't need it now I strongly advise you install this app. just to have the extra features on your iPhone/iPod!
The person who give it 2 stars because of conflictual problems is a little harsh. Conflicting applications must be impossible to forsee and circumnavigate if u think about.
This is a great app By: Spellsinger - 06-Sep-2008 Version: 2.0 Found a company that listens to comments - thanks. One thing that isn't obvious from the description, not only can you add your own category, you can add units to existing categories. What would I change? Ability to organise and delete unwanted currencies, scrolling is long winded to reach the major currencies - also, you can't set a default currency. Finally, it is a slight nuisance having to erase the default "1.0" unit in every new window - minor complaints not to detract from the overall high quality.
Excellent By: stevenh0616 - Mar 18, 2009 Version: 2.0 This program is great. I love how customizable it is and to be able to download additional conversion apps is great. Couple of items that would make the program better:
1. On list greater than say ten or fifteen items it would be nice to have the letters on the side to browse as opposed to the wheel. For instance in converting currencies or when browsing for additional conversions, it is difficult to quickly get to what you're looking for.
2. Each category defaults with 1.0 as the value, but when you click in the cell you have to clear out the number before you type. Kind of a pain. Maybe have it clear out automatically.
Other than that the program is extremely useful! Thanks

Great App, Great Developers! By: Fledermaus-R-Us - Dec 22, 2008 Version: 2.0 I've tried other conversion apps, but this is the best yet. You can add your own categories and, if you can't quite figure out the syntax for formulae, you can email the developers, and get a prompt answer - they answered my inquiry in less than an hour! Now when I go to ship something via the US Postal Service, I can enter the number of ounces (from my scale) and convert instantly into the format that the Post Office requires: Pounds and Ounces. All App Store apps should be like this!
Great app, love the ability to create you own conversions By: shomann - Oct 6, 2008 Version: 2.0 I stumbled onto this a week or so ago when browsing the many different converter programs. This app does quite a few things very well and adds the ability to create your own conversions. Not only that, but it is very easy to browse their online database of other useful conversions that the end-users create. There are a few little annoyances, mostly UI improvements, but the app itself seems pretty stable. I would classify this as a "must-have"
Most flexible By: Fizzbuzz - Oct 1, 2008 Version: 2.0 This program is not only well designed, but also allows download of user-contributed special conversions as well as roll your own. The only quibble I might have is that it does not yet allow editing of the order of currency conversions nor remember the base currency selection, a minor annoyance. I'm not really that interested in having the Freedonia Groucho and other minor currencies come up every time I open my copy of the currency table. Highest rating, and free to boot. Users may miss this gem because of its title, which does not have the word "convert" in it.

Extremely useful By: Rrggcc - Sep 7, 2008 Version: 2.0 By far this app blows all others out of the water as far as its utility.To the DEVELOPERS:It would be very helpful if it saved the last unit under each category (ie: the currency converter makes you have to scroll all the way down if I wanted to change the unit to US dollar instead of saving that entry from my last use. In my haste to get to the end of the list of currencies, the app ended up closing out and going back to the homepage).Other than that I use this on a daily basis.
Excellent app, a few things missing By: Greogory - Sep 8, 2009 Version: 2.0 A2z Pro is an excellent unit conversion app. The shareable categories are a great boon so that users often don't have to reinvent the wheel when they need a conversion category, and they can share their own knowledge and creativity.
3 things that I think are mandatory for me to give this 5 stars:
1. Search functionality within the category download feature so users don't have to scroll the whole list;
2. A categorical list of categories available for download. For example, list dowloadable groups of categories for data, chemical, language, weight / mass, velocity, constants, etc.;
3. The ability to edit existing units, in addition to adding or removing units, within a category if an error is discovered, a mistake is made adding a new unit, or to see how a formula was created for reference.
Very customizable By: MeCrabby - Mar 13, 2009 Version: 2.0 You can download catagories that others have created or do the math and make your own catagory. I would be nice to combine catagories maybe. Ex. the volume catogory is kind of incomplete but you can download someone elses volumes catagory that has more conversions. I'm just lazy which is the whole point. Looking forward to other people creating more complete catagories so I don't have to.
Very good, very useful By: Shoey5 - 1-Mar-2009 Version: 2.0 Pros: Great conversion program. I like the currency update and ability to download new catagories. And program interface is very clean.
Some suggestions
- It would be nice to have a number pad for entering values instead of the full alpha-numeric keyboard.
- So many catagories, program should have filters for favorites, all, and custom
- Currency also needs filters for favorites. So you can see currency between a favorites list instead of scrolling around.
Get rid of the change unit button and set it to whatever unit user clicks on will be the base unit coverting from. Example for weight, user clicks on pounds, it becomes highlighted so you know that's the value your converting from is pounds and then just enter values.
Great Great App! By: MacMan! - 7-Sep-2008 Version: 2.0 This app is so easy to use and and can be completely customized to your own needs... from the order of the categories to the units that are present! You can also create your own unit categories and submit them to the app server for everyone to download. One suggestion: as more people create categories more and more unit conversions get created, however I don't appreciate having 4 "volume" categories in my app. Every so often can you update the default categories to incorporate more common units. -Or come up with another way to avoid this problem. Thanks! Overall, great download and I am glad it's free.
Suggestions By: Geoquake - Jan 6, 2009 Version: 2.0 The app has tremendous potential but here are a few suggestions
1. In conversions show significant numbers rather than fixed decimal. i.e. If two units have more than three orders of magnitude difference it shows only 0.000
2. In download section, it would be much easier to navigate if categories are arranged alphabetically.
If you implement these changes i will be quite happy to contribute more categories
