New Version works Great! Thank you! 10+  rating of Free Memory
By: Coldar - Jan 7, 2009
Version: 1.3
Ok....I deleted my other bad review and now rate this superb app as a five star. Through no fault of the developer an older version was put out by mistake but the problem has been quickly resolved with the correct version now for sale. All is forgiven. This version of the application is GREAT. Works very well and very appreciative of dev for making this. I hope to see one that checks battery power too...hint....hint! I appreciate the rush in getting us the correct version Rec.Apps. Nicely Done!
Update: Just when I thought it couldn't get better......it did! Thank you for the battery gauge....love it. Surprisingly no one has made one of these before (other than some complicated graph type). You could have easily made another app just with that by itself but chose to include it free along with the other nice updates.....man....whatda dev! I really appreciate your hard work in bringing this to us. I won't be forgetting your name.

Front Page App  rating of Free Memory

This is my first review, as I've decided I should put a bit back into the community and this app deserved my first outing. I made it a first page app, because I use it all the time to monitor (and free) memory, but also to precisely know how much battery strength is left. By using this, I've really gotten to know my iPhone's bolts and screws, as I've learned what functions really drain the battery and what can be best lowered or turned off to conserve energy. Really, Apple should have provided this app as one of their own. Its informative and very useful. (And I'm usually stingy with my 5- and 1-star ratings...this one deserves the 5.)

Definitly buy now before the battery level is lost it helps a lot and u can see how quick a certain app drains the battery please replace the battery level with something phenominal like digital scales (please) or a g force meter this app is worth it now but not so sure without the battery. I wish Sony comes out with a touch screen/ accelerometer capable device so I can scrap this apple is way to nosy. Apple and AT&T is the only 2 reasons I wanna different device, how's this Sony+verizon+touch screen+accelerometer+memory stick pro duo+more ram+more ram= my dream device also maybe a GOOD mic moral of the story buy this now

This app DOES work!  rating of Free Memory
By: Uturnaroun - Jul 10, 2010

Contrary to what the new reviews says, this app does work. It clears the memory automatically on startup. When you first launch the app, you'll see the current memory status. If you wait a couple seconds, you'll see the amount of free memory increase. There's no need to press a button anymore. If you visit their website by following the link in the app description (recessionapps.com), you'll find more information on the memory cutoffs etc.Original review:This is worth every cent. I no longer need to restart before playing heavy games. I love the battery indicator too.Every iPhone/iPod touch should have this app!

Makes Memory  rating of Free Memory
By: Craiger45 - Jan 2, 2009

After using this App for several days I would definetly recommend it. I have downloaded many Apps to my itouch 2G since purchasing it in Oct. It had started freezing up and I thought it was because Apps I was using were not closing fully or running in the background. I had no way of knowing, but since using this memory freeing App I now have control of my itouch and it no longer runs slow at times or freezes up. This App allows you to 1)free up memory when there is less than 20 Megs available. 2)see how much memory each program uses when it is running by comparing the free memory before and after opening a program. 3)when free memory is below 4Megs and you use this App it warns you "freeing memory may take a long time or reset device", but I have found it took about 15 seconds and did not reset my itouch. This is an App that Apple should include as a default installed program. My only request for a future update is that it would be great if this App could have a small icon running in the upper task bar next to the battery charge icon with a number that represents the free memory available so if it dropped below 20Megs free, it would turn yellow warning the user, and turn red in color when free memory falls below 4Megs. Then the user has the option of freeing up memory. Thanks for creating this App.

My iPhone is fast! Finally! Finally fast dot com! LOL jk but really I was getting tired of having to restart the phone to free up memory in order to do certain things, now I an just use this. Looking forward to a new version where you can clear more memory and don't need to have under a certain amount.Apple should have built this in, along with ability to see specific process info and terminate processes that aren't necessary.

GET IT!!!! You will love it

Works as advertised!!!  rating of Free Memory
By: Sbramell - Jan 20, 2009

I've read the reviews and the negative ones are crap! This program only frees about 20MB, well that is because it kills the memory hogging inactive processes. People have made this a primary compliant and even stated competiting apps are better...well the reason the others apps free more memory is because it kills processes that aren't meant to be killed!! Like the mail and iPod for example. Also I can't believe people are having buyers remorse over 0.99 in the first place! Bottom line is, the developer made a solid app, that performs exactly as described and functions very well. If you don't like the app or feel it not good enough, get off your butt and make a better one yourself! TO THE DEVELOPER: Don't listen to the negative crap, you did a great job on this!

Thank you ! (with reservations!)  rating of Free Memory
By: Fhffegvk - Jul 7, 2010

Ye, you did improve your update, it does now, in several stages, get you 20 mg of memory back BUT it has caused a memory leak so it doesn't work anywhere near as well as it did originally. Within seconds you're out of memory again. If you run the app in the morning you can see that Free Memory, the phone app itself and Mail now use up nearly all the available memory on the 3G phone running 4.0. Rebooting the phone is the only way to get the memory back. Is this a Free Memory issue or a 4.0 update error? Either way it's a problem for the users and needs to be fixed. I may delete your app and see if the problem persists. That would narrow down the real culprit. Suggest you do some checking yourselves!—----------------------------------Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! You don't realize how important some apps are until they quit working. This one seems to work better than ever!Great job guys.

Update: Not sure why you dunderheads are having a hard time figuring out why this app does not free as much RAM as before? The new os 4 uses more than 3.1.3 ever did. Hence the new math! I have a 3G running ios4. This app frees memory automatically upon starting it. The first time i used this new version i went from having 2mb free to over 40mb free. I usually write scathing reviews, but this seems to actually do what it advertises. My phone is operating at a reasonable speed since the os update. Don't let a missing button get your buttons pushed. Just calm down, people, and read the fine print.

Great app and WTF apple!!!  rating of Free Memory

I find this a great app and it doesn't really take 1-2 min or restart my phone. And I mostly use this app more for battery life than freeing memory cuz lots of time I have about 20mb of memory. And I'm personaly a fan of apple product but i really think that apple sometimes do very stupid things. For example why dont they add horizontal texting and normal texting that most other phones have instead of chatting mode. I dont want to jailbreak and pay $13 for a texting app. Can't the developers convince apple to not get rid of the battery or can us as the buyers of this app convince apple to not get rid of the battery?09/02/03

Does what it is advertised to do  rating of Free Memory

When I first got the iPod touch I was having problems with the whole program exiting thing and after I got this I never had that problem again. Now there are two things I must address: first off, people say "don't waste your money just restart your iPod". Well sure that clears a good amount of memory but it kills the battery and takes 2 minutes to reboot. This app takes 10 seconds, even if your memory is under 5 mb. Also I want to add that you people didn't get ripped off about the update. They said in their info "if you can't wait for version 1.5, then download memoryinfo". They also mention that version 1.5 is still being approved by apple, so it's coming eventually.

Seems flawless & usefull..  rating of Free Memory

Purchased and downloaded today and all appears good to go works well and no problems have been evident. The battery status works too and is accurate as it reads from the battery reader as like all of this app. Suprised that Apple couldn't have built this into the iPhone unless they have something better planned in the not so distant future. This app is nice and very important as it tells you more about the iphone's dna (what's happening inside) buy it they might improve the graphics meaning the battery image may appear.

YES IT DOES WORK!  rating of Free Memory
By: DaBigKahuna - Jul 3, 2010

You just don't have the button for freeing memory anymore - it doesn't it automatically. Just launch it and see.Since I presently only have a 3G, I don't know how it works in multi-tasking without a button. Maybe some others can report on that.I mean, if you go back to the app (in the multi-tasking list), does it free memory again? Or do you have to completely quit the app and relaunch?Regardless, the basic feature of freeing memory is still there so, hopefully, those who didn't realize it will try again.UPDATE (from their website): Now automatically frees memory on start and when you bring it to the front. So, apparently when multi-tasking, you just bring it to the front to make it work again rather than having to completely quit the app and restart.

7/2/2010: I've had this app since the 2G days. Loved it on my 3GS during the 3.X.X days. But when iOS 4 came out. The app was killed with it. However, thanks to the current update the app works just as before. However, you have to wait 2-5 sec for the app to "Free" your RAM Automatically. Also, it only frees 40-80MB of RAM, unlike the previous 128MB during the 3.X days. Overall, do not hesitate to buy this app if you're looking for a quick RAM clean-up.

Time saver  rating of Free Memory

This little app does exacly what it says it does, frees space and prevents crashes. Since I got it, never had an app crash or problems with processing speeds. I would recommend this app to anyone who is big into getting alot of apps.Side-note: to shut down an app with the home button, you do occassionally have to hold the button longer due to the activenessa of the app. Example: the music player might take around 10 seconds or more to shut it down...Like I said great little app... Worth every penny!

Works perfectly for both myself and my wife  rating of Free Memory

My wife has had an iPhone longer than I. In fact, I just purchased my iPhone about a week and a half ago. One of the applications my wife recommended is Free Memory. According to her, Free Memory has saved her from resetting her iPhone many times just by freeing up the 20MB of memory the app is set up to do. I installed the software on my iPhone and have had no issues with it. It does exactly what it says.

WORKS FOR OS 4.0  rating of Free Memory
By: halwaterman - Jul 2, 2010
Version: 2.0
Update v2.0It does work. Due to Apple's guidelines, the developers were requested to remove the memory clearing feature. They removed the familiar button we are all used to seeing. But the app now clears memory automatically on start up. Just wait a few seconds, you will see. This is my most used app and I am sooooooooo soooooooo happy that it now works on OS 4.0!_________________________When my phone acts a little sluggish, this is a nice app to use instead of having to go through a full restart. Also, a nice little feature is it tells you exactly how much of your battery power you have left. I always look at that little battery icon up top and think I have plenty of juice to get me through the day, and then end up having to recharge at some point after lunch. C'mon, you gotta admit, the battery icon is hard to get a good read on! This app will tell you the percentage of juice you have left (i.e 33% remaining).
