Description:
The lightest, prettiest and most handy carpenter tool kit in the world, right on your iPhone! Get 5 professional tools in ONE app at only half the price of buying each! *************************************************** You can hear from app reviewers and happy users: "Not only are these tools functional, they're also gorgeous, with woodgrain and lighting effects that makes them seem straight out of Leonardo da Vinci's workshop." - O'Reilly Media, "Best iPhone Apps" "Top 20 iPhone app in 2009" - Tribune Media "Father's Day App for Your #1 Dad" - CNN "Really handy and I like the style of the user experience a lot. I'm a picky user but I have to say these tools are nicely done and worth the price." -- our customer *************************************************** There are 5 tools in this Carpenter tool kit: - A plumb bob, the easiest way for you to verify the verticality of lines or walls - A surface level, the best tool to level any flat surface - A bubble level bar, exactly as you can see in carpenter tool kit shops, and more beautiful! - A steel protractor, measuring angles from 0 to 180 degrees. - A steel ruler, supporting both inches and centimeters. By swiping it left and right, the ruler is capable to measure things much longer than your iPhone! - Once calibrated, the plumb bob, surface level and level bar can also be used as an inclinometer/clinometer by reading the angles on the screen. Enjoy! *************************************************** A few tips for better use of iHandy Carpenter: - THE PLUMB BOB, SURFACE LEVEL AND BUBBLE LEVEL BAR Calibrate it first before any serious usage! - USE THE PLUMB BOB TO MEASURE THE VERTICALITY OF A WALL Two ways to test the verticality of a wall: 1. Put your iPhone back-to-back onto the wall you measure (Recommended). If the shadow of the plumb bob is on X axis (y equals zero), it then indicates your wall is perfectly straight and vertical to the ground. Please note that in this way the reading of "x" does NOT have to be zero. The back of 3G iPhone is not totally flat. But it's accurate enough just to use the flat part of your 3G iPhone. 2. Put one edge of your iPhone on the wall you measure. If the shadow of the plumb bob is on Y axis (x equals zero), it then indicates your wall is perfectly straight and vertical to the ground. Please note that in this way the reading of "y" does NOT have to be zero. - HOW TO MEASURE THE SLOPE OF A SURFACE A few ways to measure the slope of a surface: 1. Use the Surface Level (Recommended). Put your iphone onto the inclined surface (The edge of iPhone should be in line with the slope direction of the surface. To verify this, just to check whether the reading of "y" is around zero). The reading of "x" is the slope angle of the measured surface. 2. Use the bubble level bar Put one edge or back of your iPhone stick to the inclined surface (The edge of iPhone should be in line with the slope direction of the surface). The reading is the slope angle of the measured surface. If the surface is almost vertical to the ground, we suggest that you use the plumb bob tool to measure the surface instead. -CALIBRATION INSTRUCTIONS Please refer to "Help & Instructions" in iHandy Carpenter settings page

Great app! By: Dc15236 - Feb 5, 2009 Version: 1.5 I started out with ihandy level free, and after LOVING it, I decided to purchase the entire tool kit with my last $2 of my gift card. It is GREAT!!! However, everything keeps changing up and down 5 degrees after I put it somplace. Also, in iHandy level free, you can rotate the level to the right, which you can't do in this version, and that is a MAGOR problem for me, because I never use portraid mode for anything, and the left side has the volume buttens. But other than that, I love it. It's worth the $2. Get it!!! :)
Innovative and visually stunning By: Centauri27 - 27-May-2009 Version: 1.7 Who would have thought a music player could be a bubble level and tape measure? Though I haven't had a chance to put the tools to real use yet, the $1.99 asked for this suite of tools is more than fair considering how much a simple bubble level costs. The app is visually attractive and works well, after you calibrate it (and that's the hardest part to this tool). It's amazing what you can do with the iPod's accelerometer.
My Favorite By: From Brian - Dec 5, 2008 Version: 1.3.1 This is a fun and superb quick reference. Anyone leaving less than 5 stars simply means someone is using a tool for what it was not specifically designed and should examine their own reference point. To be able to use your "phone" as a tool in measuring angles and finding a balance point with such awesome graphics, and to the accuracy that it does have, is a testiment to the technology and to the ingeniousness of the designers.
Helped with a flat tire. By: CoyoteCody - Dec 1, 2009 Version: 1.82 I bought this app mainly because I thought it would be nifty little gaget 'toy'...which it is. However, when coming home from college at midnight the car I was riding in got a flat tire. Looking for the correct place to put the jack, the directions told us 13 inches - none of us having a ruler, my iTouch was useful in helping us find the right place and not break the car frame. All in all, this is an amazing product, no flaws, no problems, fun and apperently useful! A definite recommendation.
One of the BEST VALUE apps availabe By: OzEwebs - 19-Nov-2009 Version: 1.82 Ok, Ok... I agree the ruler is not great it even satisfactory for that matter. Apart from that very small fault, it is a fantastic app. For those people who love to holiday in their caravans (trailers for some countries!), this tool is a must. All you need is a true and accurate pool table to calibrate the app and it all is sweet! Oh, by the way, what you save in the functions of this app, you can afford to buy a ruler a 100 times over.
Great toolset By: Foum - 06-Jul-2009 Version: 1.71 This is an outstanding productivity app. Beautiful widgets together and also very useful. The Ruler is also easy to use for me and I found out some instructions from developer website. HOW TO USE THE RULER l Hold iPhone/iPod against object to be measured. Move the iPhone/iPod to the right and swipe the ruler left, if the object is larger than 7cm/3inch l Press 'C' to reset the ruler l The other 2 buttons on the ruler enable you to change the directions of the ruler.

great looking, great ideas, but... By: mahjr - Sep 4, 2009 Version: 1.71 Four things: > tested it against a real leveler and still not accurate, even after calibration. > the readout of the leveler is different when you hold it right side up or upside down (in other words, using either long side of the iPhone) > the leveler should have the option of either rotating it 90˚, or better, add a horizontal level alongside a vertical one (like a T shape) > NO instructions on how to properly calibrate Please work on accuracy. Thanks!
Cool By: Labeling Deloris Freak - Apr 15, 2009 Version: 1.6 This is a cool app. For all you haters out there, if you haven't calibrated it right you will get poor results. Calibrate it like they tell you to on the screen where you buy it. It really helps. And if it doesn't work your iphone or ipod is broken. I hope you got a warranty. Anyway this is a good app. I use it in math class and I have gotten all my friends with iPhones or ipod touches to buy it. My professor even got it too. Great and creative app. You guys are gonna male good money off of this!
Great little app! By: patski0 - Apr 3, 2009 Version: 1.6 I highly recommend using the 3G Dock for the Plumbob, and removing any protective slipcasing over your iPhone before doing any serious leveling. Get or borrow a real bubble level for setting Calibrations. Yes, each level setting is separate (zero-ing the Plumbob will not affect the Bubble Levels) then turn the Calibration off inside Settings so your friends don't ruin it on you. Watch for scratches when your iPhone is naked!
Pretty gadget By: ThomyNC - Dec 2, 2008 Version: 1.3.1 I generally agree with Captain Carpenter's post. On the other hand it's of course a gadget since the iPhone wasn't made to provide absolute accuracy at any angle. So, overall a very pretty design with basic usability like any tool that's not guaranteed to be accurate.
The level occasionally defies gravity and the bubble flows "downhill", especially after changing orientation. Version 1.3.1 also appears a bit less stable.
Only a few refinements necessary By: Captain Carpenter - Nov 28, 2008 Version: 1.3 4Puf and BubbleBoy have covered my concerns however, I do see some value in this App therefore, would like to see the mentioned modifications installed in the next updates. If using the non button surface of the iPhone, the numerical values are upside down. You would think that since the graphics flip with orientation of the iphone so would the numerical values..? Rookie oversight here and hope this is improved in future updates. Calibration or "zero" button needs to be included in the task bar. Once the device has been zeroed it should swing incrementally be it vertical or horizontal. Once the device has been zeroed or calibrated, it is unlikely it will need to be used again for the same operation. Therefore, a discreet location is fine. The "invisible task bar" should not be ENTIRELY "invisible." Perhaps invisible but easily found underneath the "i" or a discreet, small, semi transparent icon but as is the invisible task bar is very difficult to find when moving from one application to the next. Finally, the buttons. As mentioned in paragraph one, The iHandy is right side up with the iPhone buttons compromising the surface to be measured. Bummer. Otherwise a nice App. C/C
very nice! By: 4Puf - Oct 20, 2008 Version: 1.0 This app is really nice and the graphics are stunning! I wanted to send suggestion to the developer but unfortunately there is no way to contact him/her. So here are my suggestions: - The bubble should move in an exponential way. Real bubble tools have the bubble in the middle only when the surface is perfectly horizontal and 2 degrees plus or minus will bring the bubble all the way to the end. The bubble in this app doesn't move the same way. It is linear. - when using the bubble, the screen should flip when flipping the iPhone. Who would use it on the side where the buttons stick out? - the offsett button is too easy to hit. I want to be able to tune my bubble once and never hit that button again by mistake That's all. Good job and waiting for the next release.
Very Useful By: artistjoh - 19-Oct-2008 Version: 1.0 As an artist having a level or plumb bob in my pocket is particularly handy for straightening pictures at an exhibition, a ruler with millimeter or 1/16 inch increments, a protractor for measuring angles in artwork, a surface level for setting up a camera on a tripod for architectural photographs or panoramas. Perfect for an artist, but I am sure most people will find these basic tools useful from time to time. None of these tools are quite as convenient as the real thing, but then the real thing is very inconvenient to have in the pocket all the time. This app replaces separate apps for each of its tools and is an appreciated addition to the App Store.
Yeahhhhh greedy teacher By: Mike??? - Sep 3, 2009 Version: 1.71 First of all i like to say that this app works really good, the only tool that is useless is the ruler, please update the app and remove the ruler, and put a compass instead. Everything works fine just calibrate it, especially the plumb bob, wich my teacher told me is useless,it does work. My teacher only wants me to use a real one instead of this one, wich i understand but i think hesss jealous because i just bought a realllllllllyyyyyy cheap plumb bob.
Nice App but... By: Thomasj106 - Jul 9, 2009 Version: 1.71 This is a cool, fun, and functional app...if you calibrate it correctly. First off, the instructions shown here WILL NOT calibrate the levels correctly. You simply cannot put the iPhone "against" or "on" a surface as instructed and then push the Calibrate button. Not unless you know that the surface is dead level or plumb. Placing the Plumb Bob against a straight corner does not mean that the corner is plumb. Straight is not necessarily plumb, so calibrating it that way will in no way be accurate. Placing the surface level on a flat surface such as a table does not mean that that table is level...just flat. Again, your new level won't be accurate. So if you want to use this thing for real...and you can...calibrate with an accurate level or even better, with a laser.

A former Apple "Hater" By: WillTheElder - Feb 4, 2009 Version: 1.5 I've had my iPhone for little more than a month now. Virtually everyday I find a new "toy" that delights me. Today I found this app and have to say, being a "level freak", I could have never imagined that someone would invent such a wonderful item that can be so easly used with a iPhone. --- Thank you (p.s.- I'm in my late 60s)
Cool stuff By: obamaking - Feb 4, 2009 Version: 1.7 I'm so glad there are more and more cool iphone apps. This is the one. It's so cool to see a carpenter taking an iPhone out of the pocket other than carrying a heavy tool kit. Like what it says to be, it is really handy.
Excellent app By: Matt Stubbs - Jan 27, 2009 Version: 1.4 Nice app at reasonable price
