"Mobile allowance" grabs your remaining minutes and texts, how much you've overspent and also when your allowance will update next - all within seconds
Progress bars let you visually keep track of your usage: compare bars to see whether you're using your allowance too quickly
Tapping an item switches between how much you have left or how much you've used
You'll need to enter your O2 online username and password just once (call O2 free on 2302 to get your login details!) and it works over any internet connection (Wi-Fi/3G/EDGE/GPRS)
Your allowance data won't be available if O2 are updating their system and this application is not affiliated with Telefónica O2. Works with standard O2 UK pay-monthly accounts only (not business or Pay & Go)

I'm torn with this review. When I first bought this app it didn't work. The data was incorrect and I was fustrated at having paid for the privilege of being charged to effectively beta-test a clearly underdeveloped programme. At that point it got a lowly 1 star from me!
The latest update has fixed the issues and it now works perfectly. Should I be annoyed that I had to wait for a paid-for app to be developed in order to work? Or should I be pleased that the developers listened to feedback and took the steps to solve the problems they had with their product?
Well, I am pleased and I think it bodes well for future updates/features. A poor start, but ultimately an extremely useful and cost-saving app. Thank you for the update.

I originally downloaded this 6 weeks ago when I accidently went over my messages allocation for the month- it is brilliant! Tell you how many texts (and minutes) you have sent as well as how many are left within your allowance. Is also pretty quick & shows what your next update (billing date) is.
I paid for this application but I see it is free for this weekend only? I would definitely suggest you download it- very useful wee tool!!
Highly recommended for o2 users

This application delivers a wonderful service that cuts out all the unnecessary navigation around o2's web-site. It provides the key information it says it does without any messing around. I did have some initial problems with the app, but the author's customer service was excellent - an automated response e-mail answered my question, but the author was willing to look at individual issues if they were not already covered by that e-mail. TIP: If you've just switched from another network you won't be able to access your info until after you've been with o2 for the first month. This appears to be an o2 issue, not something the author can change. Great value at the price - get it!

I bought the app after reading some of the reviews but found that it didn't work. I an asuning it's the app itself and not O2 as the app keeps telling me. I was just hoping to confirm that the app does work when you have multiple bills on one account. If not, would it be possible to include this feature as I would really benefit from this app as I often use more than my monthly allowance. Thank you for your time and what I'm sure will be a superb app once all the creases have been ironed out.

The application didn't work initially but, thanks to the prompt to email the McNeela Network, an answer was quick in coming. I can't praise Michael enough for his regular updates and commitment to ensuring that I had an app that works.
For some technical reason, O2 don't release the usage data until the second bill (of a new account) has been despatched. So, if you're a new O2 customer, and have changed your username, be patient - it *will* work!

Great little app and buttons to buy too. Allows you to keep track of your remaining texts and voice minutes plus your current chargeable stuff too.
For those interested, I'm on a call package which includes 500 mins. But found I would exceed this. So I bought the unlimited texts bolt on which is for texts only not photo messages. I now get unlimited texts and photo messages now deduct from the inclusive text message bundle at the rate of 4 per message.

Just wanted to update my review as the new updated version of this app popped into my iPhone this morning!
Still five stars from me, the concept of this app is so simple, but the best ideas always are! It works, the new functions added in v1.1 are again simple but effective and present your usage data in an easy-on-the-eye manner and the program now functions exactly as the developer intended, so even if you use your email address rather then your o2 username to log into your o2 account, it now works beautifully!
Added to my previous comments about how impressed with the developer's speed and friendliness of his response
when the initial problem was reported, this remains a highly rated application by me, and highly recommended to anyone on 02 in this UK.
And the icon is cool now too!!!

You guys need to stop rating this application down. Sure there's coding errors somewhere and the developers even admit to that. This means they are listening to us and working on it.
As for the application. I am always logging online or texting to 21202 to find out my balance. Doing this daily is a massive chore. But this app makes it all a breeze. I just load it up and see. That's what an application should be. It does it's job and it's simple. Easy to use too.
If I HAD to choose a fault with it... Maybe the loading time could be quicker but who said that is necessarily the developers fault? It could be my slow connection for all I know.
Seriously, I don't reccommend a lot of applications unless they really deserve it, and this, by far, deserves a recommendation. Well done devs. And thank you!!
Waste of time

Works fine after update. Still in a mind of it was wrong what the developers did.
*Still no update! Seems from the reviews alot more than 5% of people having a problem. Looks to me, you take your chance with this one. It should never have been approved. Don't waste your time emailing the auther. As I previously wrote, I tried and they weren't interseted.*
Doesn't work. I emailed the auther as requested. I got a reply saying they will release an update, and to wait.
We are paying for somthing the auther knows has a problem. Apple need to look at these people more. Why should we be waiting for an update to make this work.
Apple need to provide refunds in cases were the apps don't work as stated in the brief.

Okay, that's a lie, they're pretty much the same, but My O2 is free, but before you stop reading this please consider spending that 59p to support this developer.
My O2 would not be around if it weren't for this FOUNDING app! This was the first. The application that gave influence to all the other UK bill apps.
So yes, by all means get My O2 but why not get this first, to say thanks to the dev, even if you do delete it straight away! Xxx
Good app, worth the money

Agree with the other reviewers, a simple but worthwhile app. A little slow getting the data down sometimes, but I suspect this is due to the O2 servers or my connection speed.
Couple of possible improvements;
- top and bottom of the screen are not lined up (on 3GS)
- icon does need changing, is it possible to show remaining minutes/SMS on the icon like the unread email count?
All in all, nice one, thank you.

Well worth 59p to keep an eye on my usage easily. Just discovered I have 12 hours left and 8 days to use it. I'm gonna go on a phonecall marathon! Would have wasted most of that call time so this app paid for itself already.
Wish I could give it 10 stars to balance a few of the low rating reviewers below whose 1 star scores are probably a more accurate review of themselves and their own inability to read and follow simple instructions.
If it seems like it might be useful to you buy it, you won't regret it. I didn't.

This app basically easily displays your current calls, texts, additional money spent and lenght of time until your next bill. It really is very useful, to let you known exactly what usage you still have remaining. Yes you could go onto safari and do it yourself but this does it quicker with all your information displayed in one place. I found the app to be relatively fast on speed on wifi (around 10-20 seconds to display the information), with the speed naturally decreasing down the scale with 3g, edge and gprs.

An excellent app. My first ever purchase of an app as I only download the free ones. When I saw this app I immediately knew it would save me money in the long run. I try not to use my phone too much as I never know how many minutes I have left. This app solves the problem and for only 59p it worth every penny. When installed on my phone, it worked once I put my username and password in. Thank you.

Downloaded, thought for 59p, you know, you get what you pay for!
I checked online with O2 and it was accurate.
Since I got my iPhone in December 07, my bills are never the same amount, so this app will hopefully help me to remain in my allowance.
You have to add your username and password, but it's not explained who or where the details are stored.
Would love to see an archive of previous months usage!
Well done Developer, this app should come with all iPhones, it's awesome.

Excellent app, shows not only how much of your monthly allowance you've used but also what you have left and how long you have to go before the end of the month, for voice and texts. Also shows details of costs outside your allowance. If o2 updated there website the app is updated very quickly to ensure it can still report your usage. Developer is also very quick to respond to any question you might have. So in summary... No wizzy graphics or multicoloured screens just a very useful/functional AWESOME APP!!!

I accidently inserted my email address instead of username. I emailed the developer and he replied promptly with the solution.
Basically in the next version you will be able to use your email address.
To fix the problem for now:
1) Plugin iPhone and sync the Apps back to the computer.
2) Quit iTunes
3) Hold the Mobile Allowance icon on the phone until it wiggles then using the little X delete the App. Press the home button after.
4) Open iTunes and sync the Mobile Allowance back to the iPhone.
5) Open the Mobile allowance App and insert your 02 Username and Password (You can get this from the 02 site)
No more expensive bills!!

This a god send of a app! Thanks guys! It does what it's meant to do and says. Set up could not be any simpler. It provides instant access to your minutes and texts, most importantly a simple visual representation of usage.
Only thing I can think of for an improvement would be to have some kind of setting to warn of nearing end of usage.
However, 59p is well worth it, thinking of all the money I will be saving!

This app fills a niche in the Market, yes it did stop working for about ten days, this was not the fault of the application or the developer but actually O2 for changing the way in which data is displayed on their web pages.
The slow update to correct the problem is not due to the developer being slow, but actually down to apple taking ages to approve the update - anybody with a little awareness of how this application works will tell you the same.
As far as I'm concerned this is a super little aplication and it does everything it says on the tin.
Anybody who has negatively rated it obviously doesn't have the understanding in how this application accesses the data from O2.
Well done on an application that is actually useful, perhaps O2 would assist you to develop it a little further? Eg, numbers dialled and sms'd?
Can't live without it.

Before this app became available I was constantly going over my text allowance on the iPhone. As every iPhone user knows, there is no facility to alert us as to how many characters we are typing in a text, have left, or how many texts are being sent in one go! (boy do I wish some genius developer would come up with an app for this)! As a consequence I was frequently being billed well over my monthly contract for this. At one point I endured a bill of £120 over and above!
However, since using this app I can now clearly see at the touch of a button how many texts I've used and have left. Yes I do have to wait with either a few hours or one day for the system to update but that is o2's dept and not the fault of this app!
If you are like me and need to keep an eye on your texts or minutes then this diamond of an app is for you!
