Great little app

This is a fun little app that comes in handy at parties, concerts, or when you just need to kill some time. There are plenty of customization options as well as pre-set features. My personal favorite is the lighter setting. All and all this is one of the most fun apps that is available for the iphone, and you can't beat the price point. I look forward to seeing what applications DoApp will produce next. Great job!

Best free light (so Far)

Apparently, this app was introduced at $0.99 but has since dropped to free. In the "free" market for lights, this app is now king. Not just a white light, not just brightness control, not even just a handful of colors. Turn on your light, set it to any shade and brightness you want. Then set it to strobe and have it blink at one of 5 speeds. And the trippin function takes it a step further: strobe with constant shift through colors.
Now they've added a bunch of the other features: specialized alternating colors, a bic lighter, and more. This is pretty much the end-all of free and paid light applications.

Perfect for when I come stumbling into the apartment at 2:30am wasted and sadly try to get to my room with falling over something or stubbing my toe on the coffee table. I suppose it would be cliché to use at a concert when the band plays a slow sexy song, or could help you kill your battery if you don't wanna let iTunes keep you awake all night. My only problem with this app is that natural sunlight tends to render it useless, ie finding a frisbee in a tree or a car in a parking lot. Overall, I will enjoy using this app really late at night and I must say, "Kudos to you Mr. Scientist. Kudos to you."

This app outshines (sorry, couldn't help myself) the other light apps available. It has more features, especially with the last update additions of police, fireengine, and lighter options, and is much better designed. I also like how easy it is to change settings, unlike one other app which you have to exit the app, go into settings and change things from there.
Overall, a top-notch job.

This does all it says, it is easy to navigate and has plenty of fun options. I really don't what people are complaining about. It is a fully functioning flashlight and if you want to fun it up, you can!!! The fact it's free?? Fantastic!! I read all the reviews on all the flashlight apps and the only complaint I saw on this was that it's not fun enough!!??? All those people with unrealistic expectations pulled down the ratings of this app. Trust me it works great and I know it will come on very handy when my kids lose stuff in the dark, and truthfully if I lose stuff too !!! Great job on this app!!

This is a simple flash-light application. It turns the screen white so your iPhone throws off as much light as possible to help you see. I don't understand people rating this less than 5 stars because quite simply it does exactly what you'd expect. It makes light. It has a few more features than the other free one, and quite frankly if you're considering paying for a flashlight application....don't. Flishlighs light, the iPod can only emit so much ligh, so unless your purchase transforms your iPod into an actual flashlight it's a silly waste of money.
Heck before I this I just used the (included) "Notes" app.

I'm another customer who thinks that it's bad business to have an "update" that turns out to be a "downgrade." Plus, like a lot of others, I am already having trouble finding space for all of the apps that I want, so the idea of breaking up 1 app into 2 separate apps is INSANE, and just makes my problem worse. I will not be downloading the update for this app (or any other updates for it in the future) until this issue is remedied. If they do fix this issue, I will give this app the 5 stars that it then deserves.
UPDATE (Nov. 30th): I have to give props to a company that is willing to correct it's mistakes. Thank You, DoApp! I have changed the rating back to the '5 stars' that it has earned.

I Decline Your Upgrade (update)

UPDATE: They put "a" lighter back in, but with an unnecessary woodgrain background, and now you have to "strike" the lighter to turn it on. What was wrong with the old lighter? That's what everyone was on about. I'm only giving back 5 stars as props to the developer for reading the reviews and responding quickly.. Also...NEW PROBLEM: The previous version held its settings; this one does not. Coming back to the Normal mode (flashlight) sometimes gets stuck on another color. PREVIOUS REVIEW: Removing a popular feature is NOT an "upgrade" in my book. Why did you think it was a good idea to suggest using up limited app space just to enjoy one whimsical feature in an entirely separate app?

This is a great app I use it daily at work. I'm a security guard on a loading dock on lower wacker in Chicago so I would like to help divert traffic to the outside lane with a BIG strobing arrow. If you could add this that would be awesome. Right now I use strobing yellow and red lights maybe a strobing "STOP" in white letters with red background also could be added. Thanks guys great job on this app!!!

The extra effects are nice. And the built in lighter is a nice touch.

I really liked flashlight, but mylite seems even better. The various extra light and strobe effects are more interesting than I would've thought. And a nice attention getter when everyone else in a dark area is trying to signal their friends with just a white light. So overall, this is a very handy, very helpful application. Not only is the flashlight useful, but the included 'virtual lighter' is sort of nice, and the various strobe effects might be fun for those who like to try and give epileptic seizures to their friends.

My house lights had just gone out and I didn't have any candles and couldn't find my flashlight.
Unfortunately, I found the app one day late. Nonetheless I’m prepared for next time.
The strobe light and other light schemes are great. Adjusting the light color to your liking is amazing.
I can see my walking path very clearly when it's completely dark around me.
Very useful app.

So I downloaded this app it seems like moments after it was graciously changed to free and I am extremely happy that I did. Had a storm yesterday that was powerful enough to knock down a tree in my back yard. The power went out for the first time since I have lived there. Not only was I able to see with my new flashlight app but I was also able to entertain my little one while we waited for the power to come back on. Serendipity? I don't care, I just wanted to see my way to the breaker box and found entertainment on the way.

I LOVE THIS APPLICATION!!!!!!!

I don't care what anyone else says about this application, if you have an iPhone then this is something you need! When I've been stranded outside without a flashlight, this is better than alot of LED flashlights I have! When I was stranded on the side if the road with a flat tire & no flares, I used the strobe feature! When my kids wanted to blow their birthday cake candles out again & again, I just used the lighter feature! If you don't have this app., get it! You never know when you're gonna need it!!!!!!!

I got instant laughs. Then someone told me, hey you should get a lighter on your phone too! I then pulled out the lighter!! This is a fun concert app that doubles as a flashlight!! **The only thing I want changed is the name and the icon, otherwise, fantastic!

The title says it all. Though I have some ideas for the next update. The strobe needs to be MUCH faster. I've seen a real strobe light; this is as slow as a snail compared to a real strobe, even on the fastest option (10). Also, maybe a accelerometer option for the lighter so when you turn the iPhone or iPod Touch the flame stays upward like a real lighter, and also a black background for the lighter. Also a candle option. Please click Yes below so the developers see this. Thank you.

this is a cool app. it's fun to show people and is entertaining. only problem is it crashes if I don't use it for a few days. I also would like to see some cool updates and more effects. it's still an awesome app and worth... oh wait, it's free! get it it's worth your time(update dec 1) thank you for replacing the lighter! only 1 suggestion, remove the menu button in the lower right corner on the lighter and the "doapp" logo on the lighter. They're distracting from the actual app
