Reviews:
Finally!!! By: planeKrazy - Nov 7, 2010 Version: 2.0.0 Finally I can access flash videos which are so common on numerous websites. I know you are busy but optimize for iPad please. To all the complainers here - it's about time Apple sets a minimum IQ limit before they sell their iPhones. Half the people here are bitching about stuff skyfire NEVER promised you when you purchased the app!! So either you can't read or you have a very low IQ? I'm guessing both!! Good app Thank you
Bravo By: epic1044 - Nov 6, 2010 Version: 2.0.0 First of all, thanks to Apple for approving the app. Skyfire is a perfectly functional browser with a couple of twists. Most notably, the ability to watch Flash videos will plug one of the last holes keeping my iPhone from being my favorite web browsing device. Skyfire also let's you toggle between desktop and mobile mode, letting you view desktop-optimized versions of websites that would otherwise force-feed you mobile versions. The browser performs quite snappy, and Flash video transcoding is handled at a perfectly tolerable rate on Skyfire's servers.
What every free tv lover waits for! By: Arc's Panacea - Nov 6, 2010 Version: 2.0.0 Skyfire at first glance is a Safari clone, but it didn't take long for the app to prove it was much much more than that. The addition of flash video capability (which Apple villainously disallowed due to their petty disputes with Adobe) single-handedly puts Safari to shame and opens up the net to thousands upon thousands of hours of wonderful, free, streaming greatness. Thank you Skyfire. I've been waiting a LONG time for this!
I think It's Wonderful! By: Nakcol24 - Nov 5, 2010 Version: 2.0.0 Update: Doesn't work with nbc.comI was one of those people that had to wait for it to come back to the App Store. I hit the buy button before I read all the negative reviews and I have to say that it does exactly what it says it does. I have an iPad and even though you have to hit the 2X button, it's actually not that bad. I tested Skyfire by going to a couple of sites and I didn't have any issues with viewing videos....for an example, I went to MTV.com and watched the Trey Songz Bottoms Up video and it was crystal clear using the 2X. It was actually a lot more clearer than some of the regular webpages that I visited. If you haven't downloaded it, I would definitely try it out. Yeah there's no trial version of the browser but it's less than $3.00. You can always backup it up to itunes and wait for the updates if doesn't suit your taste. I actually like but that's my opinion.P.S it took less than 10 seconds for the music video to load!
Skyfire delivers By: Cincycinco - Nov 6, 2010 Version: 2.0.0 If you're a smart app shopper (and even remotely competent) you should read reviews of an app before purchasing it, and I'm not talking reviews only from the app store. Most of the poor ratings come from people who don't understand the features. This app does exactly what it promises and it does it well. They have improved the zooming issue that was a complaint and I haven't had any server problems streaming Flash videos. This is a GREAT app! I highly recommend it. The only thing I would add would be scrubbing within the timeline of flash videos. Other than that, top notch! 2.99 well spent.
Finally Daily Show on iPhone! By: Attorney from St. Louis - Nov 6, 2010 Version: 2.0.0 Works perfectly on my 3GS. Now I can finally watch Comedy Central on my phone. If for that and nothing else this is worth the price. I'm sure they need to work out some bugs, guess what so do Apple, but it didn't stop you from blowing $300 on a phone that didn't send photo messages when you first got it, so for $2.99 I think all the haters should shut it and figure out a better use for their time. Like I don't know, maybe a girlfriend? Just saying...
Some ideas and review By: Secres - Nov 3, 2010 Version: 2.0.0 As soon as I saw this on the app store I bought it and from first feel I love it works very well and is going to replace my safari browser now but there's a few things I would love to see in the next update, for one if there's more then one video to watch on a web page let me pick which one I want to see, second world be when I'm watching a video please let me scan through where in the video I want to see so if I hit the done button then I can easily get back to the place I was at, and third! Please add retina display! That would make it so much better but other then those few things I freakin love this app now it's such a good idea and how they made it work quite well
Does what it says. By: Report a Concern - Version: Was hoping for a nicer browsing experience but it didn't add anything. My company website is flash based and instead of loading the page as a whole it detects and picks only a small playable video rather then reloading the flash site. Flash.com didn't even load.Went to a video site and when I selected video option got an error message in return. Waste of money and I'd actually like a refund if possible.
Escapistmagazine works. By: Bluedae - Nov 6, 2010 Version: 2.0.0 Those of you who are zero punctuation fans know what I mean. Otherwise when I got a can`t play screen it asks if I want to report it which is very proactive. I feel one of 2 things will happen with app (or both). 1: This app is so high profile and the devs are getting so much publicity and revenew that they will be able to improve and provide the program everyone is seeking or 2: A more well off developer will mark this success and try to copy then outclass it. Either way in the end we the consumer will win.
Excellent app try it out By: SlvrVette - Nov 6, 2010 Version: 2.0.0 I'm glad I got this now I can watch funnyordie.com, todaysbigthing, etc from my iPhone I am quite impressed for a device that is flashless. The integration is awesome, no crappy logging into a server or having to jailbreak to watch flash movies. These idiots that are hating on it don't realize it's not supposed to have flash games and the reason it was spotty at first is their servers overloaded with all the downloads. I look forward to it's future.

I am very happy to have Skyfire! By: catfinley9 - Nov 7, 2010 Version: 2.0.0 Last night I watched a movie on my iPhone. I also watched a television show. Today I explored further I watched videos on PBS, History Channel, ABC and more. I watched more movies on Crackle. This is something I very much wanted to be able to do. Skyfire makes my iPhone feel complete. Skyfire is very good, even though it just came out for the iPhone a few days ago. AND It will get to be even better in time. Thank you Skyfire Labs. Good job.
What? This app works perfectly! A huge achievement for the mobile web. By: Adam74- - Nov 7, 2010 Version: 2.0.0 I think it is really, really odd that there are so many one-star reviews for this app. I have a 3Gs with the 4.0 upgrade - a basic setup - and I can play any Flash files the internet has to offer. Also, despite strange reviews that were posted as recently as today, no, there IS a backspace button and very fast load times. I don't mean to sound paranoid, but I can't help but think that something is fishy about the source of all of these low reviews. The app just opened up my phone to the full internet for $2.99, site after site is working flawlessly, it is a ginormous achievement in the mobile web world for the iPhone. Yet, Apple is remaining mostly hush about this development. What?? Jobs needs to get off his snooty-minded monopoly-approach to business and support fantastic tech like this. This app is a solid breakthrough.
People are morons By: Mr. Quackers - Nov 4, 2010 Version: 2.0.0 This app is great. It never says it can run games. Also it even says it's list of sites that you can run Flash video is growing. Skyfire even let's you tell them what sites do not work so they can add it to their list. Another thing is their servers are being bombarded because this is such a successful app, they are working to purchase more servers. In the mean time, it is slow. You people are ignorant, do you know how much computing power it takes to transcode all the videos everyone wants around the world? Give Skyfire a break, this is the first app of it's kind. Give them time to polish. Short story - wonderful app with plenty of potential, keep the updates coming and the servers up, and the app will be amazing.
This is HTML5 you're watching By: robfuzz - Nov 7, 2010 Version: 2.0.0 This video is a converter. Not everything can be converted yet. I can't believe I'm watching Daily Show clips on my iPhone! I saw a clip referenced on Facebook. I copied the link and opened it in Skyfire and almost cried from happiness. The videos play great for me. Great UI. Very easy to understand and use. This app is the best advertisement HTML5 has ever had, but I think people are expecting too much right now.
This Browser Gets The Job Done By: o_Randy - Nov 6, 2010 Version: 2.0.0 Skyfire does what it advertises. It allows me to play Flash video on those rare and few sites that don't support HTML-5, such as PCWorld and the New York Times, just to name a couple. For only three bucks it's a great way to enhance your iPhone/iPad video viewing functionality. Because of the graininess involved in multiplying this app for my iPad, I can't wait for the version designed specifically for the larger screen. The conversion speed was acceptable, especially when you consider what is technically going on behind the scenes. That's why I highly recommend this App.
Great app By: jeans94621 - Nov 3, 2010 Version: 2.0.0 This is a great app. I don't know what all the complaining is about. The app works great for me. Go to abc.com and watch your favorite shows. Or go to vh1 or bet.com. Yes it takes a minute to buffer but on my windows mobile phone it would start right up and then keep pausing to buffer in between. I rather wait for about a minute and watch the video straight through. This app works better on iOS than on windows mobile. Stop complaining and give it a chance especially since so many people are using the server right now.
Great start! Hope it only gets better!! By: Ksegs - Nov 7, 2010 Version: 2.0.0 Plays flash video on the majority of sites, just like it says. If you expect it to do what it says it does, you'll be satisfied. Is there room for improvement? Of course. Retina display support would be awesome. I assume as the servers are upgraded, the video will be played in increasingly higher quality, and the sooner the better for that. But for sure this is better than anything else out here and highly recommended.
Decent but... By: Jrvideoviewr - Nov 7, 2010 Version: 2.0.0 The app is decent. It does finally play flash videos for the iPhone which is awesome. Though, it seems to have problems with 3/4 of the videos I try to play (Megavideo, Facebook, Myspace, and a few other flash video supporters don't seem to work) Also, rather slow connection even with fast WiFi connection. You can't fast forward or rewind or skip around. Considering this is the first version, once they work out the bugs and get some updates on it, hopefully it'll be a lot better. If you want to watch flash videos on your iPhone, then this is certainly better than nothing.
Works By: Colin.A - Nov 6, 2010 Version: 2.0.0 I wouldn't normally review an app like this after visiting only one site, but other people have done so in their negative reviews, so I will balance that out. It worked for Colbert Nation, which would be my main interest (other than the shear genius of the concept). By the way, this simply shows you H.264 video encoded from their servers from the Flash original, so it is unlikely it would impact battery life as some have said. The quality was not what I would want for viewing on something larger than an iPod touch, but our router is unreliable, so it might have thought I was on a slow connection. Bummer I can't seek or see the length of a video. But I expect it will improve. I'm just grateful that it works and someone had the guts to do this!
Enjoy it when you can!!!!! By: Amaru DEL BRONX - Nov 5, 2010 Version: 2.0.0 This app is awesome! It let's watch some videos on certain websites, so of course it's better to have something than nothing at all. Just watched bully beatdown on MTV.com on my iPhone 4 so I'm happy. However, it's crazy but sooooo true. Flash videos kill the iPhone battery sooooo quickly. The episode was about 25 min long, my battery was at 62% then it went all the way down to 27%!!!! This is not Apple's or Skyfire's issue/fault. But rather Adobe's flash videos encryption... So use at your own risk. I would still recommend it though, nice app!
