FiresNSW is about bringing bushfire awareness close to you if you live in NSW Australia. Where is the nearest fire to me? Is it where I need to go? Will I need to deal with one on the way?
Data is sourced from the NSW Rural Fire Service, and the iPhone allows us to present this in a location-aware manner. It's not expected to be updated realtime, to the minute, but updates generally occur through the day. Shake the iPhone to initiate a further download.
Two presentation formats are included giving the same information with differing emphasis
a) A table/list format for quick, no fuss, upfront detail with the closest fire alert at the top of the list. Get the full detail by clicking on an item's right disclosure arrow.
b) A map format for an overall awareness of the State's emergency with each fire represented as a red, selectable pin, and the user's location in blue. The red and blue pinhead colours accord with the Apple user experience. Click on a red pin for more detail, and then use the bubble's right disclosure arrow to get even further detail.
